Essencial Desejos

#1716 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Because Veronica Kato is the perfumer involved in every Natura EDP I own and she has her go-to base and mid-note combinations that she repeats a lot, there is not a lot of wild divergence in the “Essencial” or “Homem” fragrances lines. On the plus side you kinda know what to expect: versatile, inoffensive, good quality, but scents probably no one will ever recognize. Personally I could not care less. If I wanted every twenty-something woman to recognize the scent I’m wearing I’d just wear Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage or Eros like every guy they meet at the clubs. Still, if you lean toward popular mid-range lines from Chanel, YSL, Paco Rabbane, then the Natura “Essencial” and “Homem” fragrance lines will definitely have something that will be your jam, though none of them are going to blow your mind. As to what this is similar to: I don’t get how anyone associates this with Chanel “Egoiste”, a completely fruit-free scent. But the folks smelling M. Micallef’s GNTONIC are not wrong. The same key notes are there, but the Micallef isn’t half as complex. “Desejos” is definitely the better scent and about $90 less in price. They have managed to go all in on the fruit stand without creating a sweet scent, adding spiciness, keeping it nice and “masculino.” Quality is always non-negotiable for me, and this scent delivers. I applied this at 630:am before heading for a 3.5 mile lap on the lake, despite which four hours later this is still a nice strong skin scent. You do want to give this an hour on the skin before deciding how you feel about it as the dry down is way better than the opening. I still have “Essencial Atrai" to evaluate tomorrow, which will complete my acquisition of the thirty Natura EDPs available, but of the twelve “Essencial” fragrances I’ve purchased to date, this may turn out to be my favorite. This scent is versatile enough for any purpose, won’t offend in tight spaces, and solid quality, earning the $92 I paid for it. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

Recommended sprays: 10–12 (it’s weak) Opening and initial impression: Smells like a lime gin and tonic Dominant notes: Gin, bergamot Projection duration: Half an hour Projection range: Intimate (sometimes I can't even smell it myself if I apply it to my neck right after spraying) Longevity on skin: 2–3 hours (being generous) Evolution: The scent becomes fresher and spicier, reminiscent of the spices found in the drink (coriander, pepper, and juniper) Ideal weather: Hot Ideal occasions: Hot weather, the gym, and lounging at home Vibe: Freshness—like sipping a lime gin and tonic Similar fragrances: GNTONIC by M. Micallef and its inspired versions Strengths: One of the best and most unique scents I’ve ever smelled Weaknesses: TERRIBLE performance. You can barely smell it—you have to press your nose right against your skin to detect it—and after about 2–3 hours, it’s completely gone. My take: I bought this perfume at a Natura store. I was misled by the scent on the paper strip; I thought it was worth spending 280 reais on it. A week of use was enough to prove me wrong. The scent is truly wonderful, but given the PATHETIC, HORRIBLE performance, it’s not worth the price at all. There are infinitely better fresh fragrances in this price range. Final rating: 4.5 Would I buy it again? Only if it were free.

hahaha about the guy below, don't believe in these notes here buddy, its all marketing, they can put whatever they have in mind. Now let's talk about the fragrance. If you already know the OG (Natura Essencial, from 1995), basically its like a watered version of it, like they got the juice of the original and diluted in some alcoholic note, Gin maybe? Woody and aromatic peppery opening, the notes i got is Open with this amazing Gin, and a bit of nutmeg, some kind of pepper, bergamot and lavender a bit of cardamom there, a bit of priprioca in the drydown u will get a mix of ambery mixed with a bit of cedar, a bit of vetiver, more tiny sandalwood and some ambery/musk just tested for 2 days, i don't see any similarity as Platinum Egoiste or GNTONIC. last 8 to 9h with 1 to 2h of projection after 5h the scent is very close to the skin, no more projection after that thats a shame because the OG is way more powerful and has a huge sillage and amped this aromatic woody fragrance.
