Essencial Único

The most delightful and interesting "grandmother's perfume" I know. The term "old" here is purely a compliment; there's something quite elegant about this fragrance. It's very floral, with the powdery nature of jasmine and iris in the foreground, followed by other white florals and the strong notes of rose. All these elements grant the perfume a mature, stately air. Amidst the floral curtains, the spicy notes float clearly: the slightly warm cardamom, the characteristic copaiba of the line, but here it's more comforting and diffused among the other notes. There are so many notes, but the outcome is something that speaks softly and in hushed tones. (By "hushed tones," I mean the impression it gives, because its performance is impressive and its longevity on the skin is even more so.) Somewhat paradoxically, I don't find it an easy fragrance, and it's certainly not for everyone, possibly even coming across as peculiar. Some might even interpret it as austere. Truly, it's a rather contradictory perfume with its almost verbose complexity of notes and a serene result. To me, it's a scent with so many cohesive and harmonious layers that it remains intriguing no matter how often I smell it, even if its fragrance isn't among my all-time favorites. Another perceived contradiction. It's not an utterly delightful scent that captivates or makes one's mouth water, but it gradually unfolds in perception, never standing out as the best fragrance at any moment, but always remaining intriguing with something extra to be discovered. Edit: Lately, I've noticed that some perfumes remind me of others not necessarily because of their scent or specific notes, but due to the evocations they bring in their composition, their "ethos," or personal character if they were a person. For instance, Y EDP reminds me of Malbec Noir, Coffee Man of La Nuit de L'homme, and Man in Black of Oud Pimenta for men. These fragrances are far from being similar or inspired by each other, but they might convey the same discourse in different rhetorics. In this sense, Essencial Único reminds me from the get-go of Dior Homme Intense, one of my favorite and most personally resonating fragrances. The Dior is simpler; this one is bolder. Dior has a hidden sensual side, while this one seems more aureate and less sensual. Yet both convey the feeling of a very unique personal sphere, a scent that never fully reveals itself, always leaving something hidden. In terms of obvious similarities, both have the presence of iris and a powdery aspect. Here, it's more moderate and interacts more with other notes than in Homme Intense. But that alone doesn't solidify the association; not to mention, this powdery note comes from the blend of white florals, making it perhaps more natural, while in Dior it's more of a backdrop. Yet, both give me this sense of restraint, a unique personality, and perhaps even what I'd call an "evocation to mysticism" or "something behind something." In Homme Intense, this is a sensual, occultist mysticism; here, it's less evident as such, more traditional, and therefore more diffused. Maybe, as an analogy, it's like the deep inner life and unique character of a religious grandmother.

Composição linda, harmoniosa, elegante e complexa, fugindo da obviedade em perfumes. A nota de copaíba é DIVINA, a abertura especiada picante combina perfeitamente com toda a composição, o lado atalcado da Iris dá uma delicadeza pro soco da copaíba, o jasmim não carrega nenhuma doçura mesmo com o fundo de baunilha. Só não é perfeito pela nota de osmanthus (e que tem em VÁRIOS perfumes nacionais :c ) que me deixa enjoada. Em mim traduz talco confortável floral com copaíba. Delicioso.

It's true that the fragance reminds you of a soft far away but I fail to notice anything else to justify making another perfume. I will let it macerate to see if I can pick on anything else that enhances the fragance and its lasting power. Because as it is, I would rather apply far away.

Too woodsy, sweet and resinous to be called a floral fragrance. More of the same for Natura's creations.
