Homem Verum

I just got it and I'm already in love with this stuff. Most remarkable CH Men imitator that I've come accross. I recently tried Mercedes-Benz Momentum Intense, which is not horrible to me, but when I dove deeply the leather in there is too much like burnt plastic. Homem Verum is more pleasing even than CH Men to me, and that was formerly my favorite fragrance (trying to still reserve judgement). It is definitely more noticeably green to me, even very very slightly more noticeably sweet, and definitely has a subtle aromatic quality about it. The opening is where it is greenest and freshest, of course, but it retains some of those elements for a reasonable length of time, at least compared to CH Men. I am not the best judge of performance, maybe because of my burnt nose from years of smoking (I tend to get nose-deaf to certain things, CH Men-type things included), but it is probably a good sign that I can smell this stuff VERY strongly long after I am totally unable to detect CH Men sprayed at the same time. The only knock I have against its scent so far is probably that its sweetness is slightly more on the "bubble gummy" side than CH Men, but not everyone might feel that way or even agree. It's pretty minor. The subtleties in the differences between this and CH Men beyond what I've said are too difficult for me to exactly explain, save to say that it seems to be slightly greener, fresher, deeper, extremely well-blended, and (to me) even more pleasing overall. I will spend some more time with it in different conditions, but there is no doubt that this is an absolute 10/10 masterpiece (granted it's standing on the shoulders of CH), and for anyone just wishing that CH Men was never reformulated, this in my opinion is superior to any previous formulation of CH Men. I should mention that I own batches from 2010, 2012, and current, and this beats everything in both composition and performance. EDIT: After a little more experience, I still love it, but one knock against it is that the sweetness that you get in the dry down is a little more on the bubblegum side of things which I tend to dislike, and I get none of that with CH Men. It's not too bad, but definitely worth mentioning if that is something that bugs you.

This will forever be one of my favorite hidden gems. The original CH Men was my signature scent for a couple years and ultimately ignited my passion for collecting fragrances. One day I found out it had been repackaged and reformulated, so I purchased a sample of the modern formulation to see for myself and indeed it had lost a bit of its magic and performance. So I set out to find something with a similar scent DNA that performed better, and boy did I find it here. Homem Verum is spicy, fresh, green and woody, I pickup a nice dose of peppery cedar that makes this unmistakably masculine, and a perfectly balanced sweetness that makes this feel cozy and cuddly too.. Everything is balanced in a way that is super pleasing to smell in the air and it projects within an arms length for several hours and leaves a nice scent trail for at least a couple of hours. I’ve received several compliments while wearing this one. A female friend told me I smelled “so good” and a girl I took on a date later told me “I love your smell”... so trust me when I say this one is worth checking out if you like the idea of a fragrance that is slightly sweet and fresh, with added depth from spices and woods. Perfect for Fall Weather in my opinion.

#1133 in my "Tour de Fragrance" If you like CH Men as much as I do, this scent improves on that formula with iris, added musk and not so much of the sweetness of the entire CH line. This has everything I like about CH men and more, including copaiba, one of the unusual South American biodiversrity ingredients, like priprioca, whose use is unique to Natura. And this was only $42 at PureBrasil.com, as opposed to he $65 I paid for CH Men at Jomashop, and I got it FedEx in a week. Great vendor that packages correctly, ships immediately and communicates every step. I like that. I talso like that Natura uses environmentally friendly packaging, magnetic caps, and grown-up bottles shaped for easy shelving. Wish the Arab houses would follow suit. The scent is just warm, inviting, cuddly, and the girlfriend says "Hmmmmm. I like it!" Wear this to the office if you have a co-worker you're looking to hook up with, but don't overdo it in the car pool. Definitely a date night scent that I think is versatile and masculine without being pushy about it. A successful blind buy for me!

An inexpensive fragrance that smells very similar (95%) to vintage CH Men. Great scent with very good performance. Absolutely worth a blind buy. Love it.

To my nose, this is a relative of CH men, with the sugary note backed by suede. Sophisticated syrup vibe, almost opulent, but not overly so. Unlike CH men, this does not vanish from my skin in a couple of hours leaving only a bland sweet/burnt smell. This actually lasts 6+ hours on my skin, with that sweet top note of CH men present for most, if not all, of the time. edit: a few wears later, I am back to let you know that I managed to detect an aldehyde note, which might well have to do with its goof projection and lasting power. This note is a slightly pungent and soapy, as in Comme des Garçons 2 Man.

A very nice scent for fall, very woody. This smells like a combination of Carolina Herrera CH Men and Dunhill X-Centric. It has that vanilla note front and center with the sage. Even though the sage is a top note, it sticks around all day. Very sweet but also very spicy. I also get a hint of tobacco in the drydown. Lots of wood on the tail end. Powerful projection and excellent longevity, 7-9 hours easily.

A couple months later, to me this feels like the best alternative to Tuxedo, which was way too expensive for me to justify. I will say, I miss the patchouli. But besides that, it is a very similar fresh airy vanilla sweetness that is beautiful and elegant. Absolutely love this one!

Initial notes: citric feeling at first, leaning to Memoir D'Homme by Nina Ricci - no notes in common between these, though. It calms down leading to acute notes (feeling like needles to the nose) with some balsamic accords playing around. The dry down is unmistakenly woody, I would say of the generic type. Don't look for clearly identifiable notes: the sage, black pepper, nutmeg, violet leaf, jasmine, amber, suede, vanilla, iris, vetiver, musk, cedar and sandalwood are simply not there for this is a chemical soup of the kind to be smelt to - I can't detect the cashmerean nor the copaiba because I don't know how they smell like. The composition cries synthetic, which, of course is not a bad thing, per se. Unfortunately, this is not the case for NHV. Nota bene: when it happens that I have the chance of smelling these kind blends I immediately think of some classics and how much perfumery lost when it comes to chemistry and blending. Eau Sauvage smells like jasmine, OK; Hedione, but still, it smells like jasmine. In these the feeling to the nose is that of a big question mark.

. Aos que falam com CH Men, o Homem Verum não é doce. Já provei o Ch Men e a baunilha é bem presente. Ele tem uma faceta canforada, lembrando gelol ou cremes de dores musculares. Não é um perfume bom. A performance é pífia.

Reminds me of CH Men, especially in the opening, but less sweet and the leather is almost a faint scent, in my skin. It is not a bad perfume, but I find it uninteresting, so I will stick with CH Men.

I purchase this fragrance because I was looking for something like CH men that performs. Homem Verum was more on the fresher side in the opening but after it starts to dry down it begins to resemble the older CH men that's a bit deeper and richer. HV smells like if CH men released a Parfum version that performs. I don't know how HV is able to have that sugary leather vibe that CH men has, since the notes are very different, but it does and does it very well. Performance on HV is more than I hoped for, 9-10hrs of longevity with 3-4hrs of great projection. Is it blind buy worthy? Yes, but only if you really enjoy CH men and want something that outperforms it. Keep in mind that it is a bit more citrusy/fresh but only in the opening. It's addictive, sexy, and versatile 10/10.
