Arezzo

Opening is very fresh. The manadarin is lovely I wanted it to hang around for longer. But then the mid comes around and I get the brandy and plum lingering with the orris butter. Very gentlemanly and refined it then gets very base heavy the tobacco is really pleasant layered with incense. The patchouli and oud awakens the senses. This is not a harsh oud and is so wearable. This is a straight up woodsy chypre style fragrance which will work so well in the colder months, although I have a feeling I'll wear this in warmer months too. It has that N&W signature with a nod to the elegance you come to expect. But far enough away for it to be unlike any of their previous releases. This really does stand out on its own. To label a fragrance to a certain demographic is difficult - because each to their own. But with this I would go out and say this is more male in their 30s+. Autumn/winter is where I'd say would be appropriate to wear. Dressed up would be the ideal, but also office friendly. As I write this I'm getting into the dry down and I can say this for me is where it is starting to truly shine. It just makes me smile and I can't wait to wear it on a night out over the Xmas season. I had concerns that without sampling I may have something in the same ball park. I can safely say, I don't. My collection is coming along nicely and as a fragrance enthusiast this will be something that I will enjoy wearing. If I was out and smelled this on someone else it'd certainly get me asking 'What are you wearing?' It really is a beautiful fragrance and would urge anyone to make a purchase. Really well done to messrs Stephen, Naughton & Wilson. A fantastic release.

Finally doing a long overdue proper sampling of the latest release from Naughton & Wilson in 2024, Arezzo, a beautifully spicy and lively tobacco-forward blend that fits so nicely with the brand’s “classic meets modern” sensibility so sturdily implemented in the prior releases dating back the better part of a decade. Arezzo entails tobacco, brandy, plum, incense, orris, and oud, with support from woods, patchouli, musk, and citruses. It fittingly feels like a bit of an ensemble with tobacco at the front, followed by the boozy sweetness of brandy and oud, and then a mixed sharp, dark, smoky, balsamic, woody entourage. In the US, Arezzo is priced at $180 for 100ml, so slightly higher than the rest of the house’s catalogue, currently, but I’d argue it’s still an unusually good price for the quality and performance, and should note that there are often deals to be found in US retailers (like Luckyscent) or even the house’s own site that are sometimes applicable to US buyers. Also, it’s quite potent in terms of performance, like the spicier Gravitas and Chypre Fulminare before it, so it’s really an impressive entry overall that’s definitely now on my list to buy at some point. 8 out of 10

Pls stop calling something classic and timeless like this dated. To me this is a more masculine take on guerlain's Habit Rouge. I like habit rouge a lot, this is better. What can be said for all fragrances from the line is that their all very mature, masculine and that they perform. You dont worry about longevity, performance, sillage, as they are all just right. And the scents themselves are truly all eloquent of class and sophistication. Well done, love it a lot. ( edit: this does smell just like jhl, only arezzo is blended much much better)

Starts with a kind of plummy booze and musk that has a little doughy almost flour like texture - the sort of thing that people might call play doh vibes I guess - but in a very positive way. Then turns into this eternal spiced woods. Vaguely reminiscent of the Les Eaux Primordiales Oud Superfluide riff on OFG. But not so dark. Really very very durable and extremely enjoyable. Seems not very “mr smelly” style (ie not a vintage fougere) but who cares - it smells awesome. Fine job all round.

A very nice enjoyable fragrance, a little dated and overtly masculine. Some have said the oud stinks a little, I don't think that's oud I think that's ambergris, I have noticed it in other fragrances from the house . It last all day on my skin with sillage being moderate for me. I will be buying another bottle.

This... is opulent and adds to the definition of masculine. Wearing this is wearing confidence, sophistication, with a dash of mystery. Not for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoy this. Scent: 9.25 Projection: 9.25 Longevity: 9.5 Value: 9.25

So far this is my favorite N&W Fragrance. This exudes class with its complex mixture of notes. It is very well blended and none of the notes are either overwhelming or overpowering.

Absolutely gorgeous...and I don't normally like "traditional" masculine-marketed scents. The notes are well-balanced and this has a smooth texture to my nose.

the animalic nuance and the barnyard cambodian oud makes this shine for me especially in the opening

Based on a decant. I've tried to get along with this. It's good but I prefer this style of perfume with more fruit/booze rather than leather. (Leather isn't listed, I think it's the tobacco and oud combination playing with my nose - at times there even a whiff of skank). What might I wear instead - the likes of Mugler's Pure Malt, Luten's Ecrin de Fume, TF's Tobacco Oud, even Mitsouko, all carried by a boozy note. To sum up: For me, Arezzo just falls very slightly short of a love, a decant is fine. 3.5/5 PS N&W's fragrances are very fairly priced, this is good value if you like this style.

It opens with a burst of spiced citrus before settling into the warmth of plum brandy, like sipping a drink in an old, dusty library or private study. So far, this one’s my favorite from the brand. I can’t wait to see what they create next with Old Money.

I'm disappointed in Arezzo. When I see notes of plum, spices, and brandy, I get excited. But those notes do not manifest much at all. Very subdued. The 'Fruity' and 'Sweet' accords are ranked too high in the stack. Instead, I get a bandaid-like accord that reminds me of the nasty Chypre Fulminare. Probably has a lot to do with the shared labdanum note. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned in reviews to this point. I hate Chypre Fulminare. It smells like the underside of a bandaid that was ripped off the ass of a yak. Similar to Dior Jules for me. The brandy, plum, and spices in Arezzo do prevent it from being as nasty, at least. But I expect the plum, brandy, and sweet spices to manifest much more. I would rather Arezzo have a base closer to Gravitas, then add the brandy, plum and spice excitement to that, rather than the band-aid labdanum chypre structure of Chypre Fulminare. Arezzo could serve as a formal wear accessory, much like a YSL Tuxedo, Oxford by Roberto Ugolini and others of similar profile. Its not that bad, but I'm disappointed. So my Naughton & Wilson fragrance opinions so far: Gravitas: Very Good Bon Viveur: OK Arezzo: OK but disappointed Chypre Fulminare: nasty

I struggle to find the right words to describe my impressions of Arezzo. It is not a terrible fragrance and I respect the intent behind it. That said, I don’t enjoy the wearing experience. The very first whiff suggests a gentlemanly, sophisticated scent but the oud and ambergris quickly take over and only increase their positions as the fragrance develops. The prominence of the anamalics surprised me. It was as if the gentleman that this fragrance suggested it might be had stepped into a mess with his John Lobbs and unfortunately dragged it onto the carpeting of his social club upon entering. I don’t know if this is a shortcoming of the quality of the oud and ambergris, or the blending of ingredients or simply an unsophisticated interpretation of my olfactive sensibilities. Fortunately, I also sampled Gravitas Essencia from N&W and I liked that very much!

I got this one from a bundle on the website. It smells amazing. Just not my style of fragrance. I should have researched the notes more.

My fifty-something year old friend told me that he felt too young to wear this and that the performance is weak. That has put me off purchasing this because the price is extortionate.

this is a lovely release by Mr Smelly, it's got so much depth and likability, certain aspects remind me of Amouage and other parts remind me of Roja Apex, begins with a sort of boozey spicey orange opening then transitions in a boozy woods with a plummy note , finally you get some of the resins incense an maybe something that resembles burning cypress, I can detect a bit of oud also running through the whole thing to give an almost tobbaco leathery feel, presentation and quality are absolutely top notch , blending is truelly impressive, I'm reminded of fragrances like Overture man and pasha parfum and strongly like Roja Apex, overall a very pleasant Autumn/winter warmer.

This is simply a smooth very very woody aromatic fragrance. There is no skank or barnyard oud here. Whoever said that below is not telling the truth. The whole experience is well blended and smooth. This is best Woody fragrance I think I've smelled. I get no booze really until the dry down. No plum at all to me. This is a deep wood fragrance that is very very well blended.
