Absolutio

I'm long overdue to sample and re-sample Navitus Parfums, which are now on Fragrantica, and I'm starting with Absolutio, part of the initial release of seven fragrances in late 2019, and probably my favorite after initially smelling each of the seven in the first version of the discovery set. It immediately fits my sweet tooth as a mix of toffee, saffron, resins, spices, and woods, primarily, to my nose. It’s not over-the-top sweet, and I kind of like the vague, almost metallic sharpness to the toffee. It’s not sharp in the sense that it’s powdery or screechy, but rather just edgy in a way that deviates from the outright sweetness that accompanies some caramelized confections. I suspect it could be the almond and saffron that temper the toffee this way. It’s not a full gourmand—despite most of the listed notes being edible—but rather, a woody/slightly spicy blend with the toffee standing out, in concert with the caramel and almond, though I do not personally detect the chocolate or apple. Again, the saffron could be key, or perhaps the almond. I’ve seen some comparisons of Absolutio to both Maison Francis Kurkdijian Baccarat Rouge 540 as well as Initio Oud for Greatness, and I vaguely get the connection, but it’s pretty faint, at least on my skin. Yes, it’s a somewhat sweet fragrance like BR540 but not nearly as bright, and it does have a dark, vaguely floral side to it like Oud for Greatness, but that connection is even weaker, to me, than to BR540. It performs quite well on my skin, very strong at the onset but a reasonable medium projector for a number of hours. Medium-strong on projection, strong on longevity, at parfum concentration. Currently the standard pricing for some of the fragrances ($195/135 for 100/50ml, in the case of Absolutio) is discounted 30% on the Navitus website. They’re also sold at the US boutiques, Perfumology and Osswald, both of which are still selling online. Overall, I’m a big fan of Absolutio. It’s sweet but not too sweet to scare aware many of the sweet-averse, I’d say, and it smells well-blended and has a certain completeness and well-roundedness that I really like. Occasion-wise, it surely feels more appropriate for cooler weather but this is one of the cases in which I feel it could work well on a summer evening, though I would not wear it in the heat of a summer day. 8 out of 10

Let me start by saying that the comparisons with BR540 are a bit misleading. Even though any fragrance that uses synthetic ambergris (ambroxan) might remind you of BR540, it doesn't mean that it smells like it. The Absolutio perfume is all about a combination of Dark Chocolate, Caramel, and Toffee, with a cherry accord that is perfectly balanced with hints of apple, cinnamon, and leather that comes from the Saffron note. It's a dark, sweet, and captivating fragrance that is more similar to Gritti's Duchessa. It's a unisex perfume that leans towards the feminine side, but it's not for those who prefer light and airy fragrances. Instead, it's for those who appreciate rich, darker scents. This fragrance carries beast mode projection, and I can confidently say that after wearing it to a beauty pageant, one of the event workers came up to me and said that she could smell me all over the room (even though it was a big event center). Absolutio lasts around 10+ hours and stays on clothes until you wash them, and even then, the ambroxan undertones can still be smelled. Therefore, if you can't smell it after a few hours, it's only because your nose has gone blind to it. Overall, this is a lovely scent that I adore. To me, it's like a darker version of Lost Cherry, with a cascade of notes that makes it intriguing and multi-layered. If you're someone who loves gourmand fragrances that are deep and rich, then Absolutio is just the right scent for you. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Wow, it's amazing to me how people smell a few fragrances and feel they have a license to throw serious shade. I never understood Steven as being the owner. If you look on the website it has a leadership section that clearly states he is 'Creative Director', not owner. Please investigate more completely before you start bashing a brand new perfume company. In this day and age don't we all have bigger fish to fry than slamming someone trying to start a new business?? I don't care who the holding company is, otherwise I'd never buy another Kilian and many other perfumes. I am not affiliated with Navitus or Steven. I just hate it when people come on here acting like they know things, when in fact they do not.

Okay so here it is...there is something fresh, sweet and magical about this fragrance. It truly is unique. Right now, it is a cooler, windy Summer evening, and this wafts in the breeze just as beautifully as it does on a Fall day. I don’t get a cherry cough syrup vibe at all - I actually experience a refined apple and cinnamon ambergris with saffron airiness that is just lovely. There is something very attention-grabbing about this one. There is a salty, effervescent freshness about it, with a cinnamon saffron backdrop that is delicious. Definitely worth a try. It reminds me of a cinnamon almond apple tea with spice. Yummy!

I purchased the discovery set as soon as it came out . Once I put my nose to this fragrance I knew I had to have it and I ordered it right away. In my opinion its a beautiful blend that reminds me of Initio's Oud For Greatness & MFK BC540 extrait de parfum.Im not great at describing notes/ scents . I pick up the sweetness from the toffee and the apple & the spicy kick from the saffron. Beautiful scent deff on my top 5. This lasts and lasts and lasts ! I don't understand why my comment was deleted. It wasn't negative at all, I love and own this fragrance!

@Donker, obviously you are NOT a fan and do not watch his videos. He clearly stated in a video last year that he partnered up with an over seas company and they were funding the project. Stop wasting your time bashing youtubers on this site. We really need an option to report posts on this site for people who are trolling! It's about the fragrance NOT the person behind it. This is beyond annoying

I HAve it and also has baccarat rouge edp and extrait. The only similarities I detect is sweetness fron the saffron mixed with the almond, but I detect about 45 50% similarities. No more. And oud for greatness smells NOTHING to absolutio. And when I say Nothing is nothing. I LOVE br540 and absolutio and I HATE oud for greatness.

The dislike comments here are from little boys who are just coming of sucking on Playboy or Brute Aftershave bottles, move on and leave the MEN to comment.. This is an amazing scent from Navitus,I a warm and spiced, lasts a good 5/6 hrs on my skin.

Perfect date night fragrance. Performance is great all around. Both men and women can easily pull this off. Very smooth, sweet fragrance. Thumbs up Navitus

Trying out my trial size of this one today! I can DEFINITELY see the resemblance to BR540. Especially with the saffron/muskiness. But I agree with fellow reviewers. It's a slightly cozier/winter edition of BR540. I'm struggling with Navitus at the moment. Every tester I've tried has been good but not great as far as its longevity/silage goes. Which seems so strange considering the price tag. If I'm gonna pay this much for a full-sized bottle, it NEEDS to perform! It's a good thing that I bought the discover sets first. But now I fear that I won't have "discovered" a new scent to buy a full size of. Side note!: As this is drying down, it reminds me of Not A Perfume Superdose from JHAG. Which unfortunately has this odd burnt rubber scent to it??? Now I'm REALLY unsure of this one...

I think this is a beautiful fragrance. I wish it was just a little sweater in the dry down. It’s definitely unisex. I get why people say it reminds them of BR540. It’s the saffron and light sweetness. It isn’t a dupe but I see the DNA. It’s like a more spicy and Christmas version of BR540 extrait. The mid of the fragrance reminds me of Kilian’s Angel Share. I also wanted to say that Navitus customer service is really great! I’ve come back to add that the sweetness totally depends on the weather. In the dead of winter the sweetness hides. I get a lot of the oak moss and driftwood. Now that the temp is 40s the sweetness shines and so does the longevity. This is a GORGEOUS scent. It’s like a cinnamon 5R540 extract 🤤

Okay, so this is Bertrand Douchaufour's take on BR540, his DNA is all over it, naturally, and I get hints of some of the ingredients used in Jubilation XXV. It is not like Oud for Greatness (apart from the BR540 aspect) and contains zero oud. Definitely not worth full retail, but a nice chocolatey & oakmossy take on BR540.

Gorgeous presentation, and fantastic spray nozzle. I get a cherry opening, and then as it dries down i get toffee and wood with hint of chocolate covered cherry in the background. I’m also picking up the ambergris which has a slightly salty feeling. Creates a magical scent bubble and smells very refined.

Was sooo looking forward to this scent but have to admit i was pretty disappointed. Based on the notes being right up my alley and overall YT reviews i thought ok this should be one i love. I was expecting a dense, rich base beneath the saffron but instead i get a drier feel from Absolutio. Mainly i get is a lot of saffron... which took my nose directly to MFK’s Baccarat Rouge. And while i never got that “medicinal” vibe some people get from BR540... i certainly did from this. I do get a vague cherry-almond accord in the opening but it’s overpowered by the medicinal facet. I hate to say it but... feels like cough syrup more than anything else. Unfortunately that feeling doesn’t really subside in the heart, and only tones down in the dry down, which goes from cherry cough syrup to cherry candy. Projection isn’t too impressive either. Points for lasting power, I’ll give it that. I got a 50ml bottle during their 60% off sale and let’s just say, i’m really glad i didn’t pay full price for this. Frankly Red Temptation by Zara or Cloud by Ariana Grande are just as good (if not better) stand-ins for a BR540 dupe. If you still want to try it id say get a decant or sample first. I think scentsplit had some. Cause this is not blind buy worthy in my book. And definitely get it on sale! I’ve tried the fragrance a few times and just... i don’t want to smell like cherry syrup/jollyrancher, sorry lol. I had high hopes and am sad to report that Absolutio scent did not live up to them. Oh well...

It's funny, cause I got a mini sampler of this one to make a video talking about circus themed scents (I believe it was recommended in a slide tiktok as a circus scent), but it was not circus-y at all. This reads christmas candle to me. It must be the cinnamon, toffee and caramel that together are a warm spice, then with the hint of apple, more of a room diffuser apple than apple pie. And while the warm and spicy scent of a pre christmas candle sounds appealing, there's something about this scent that really throws it off. Maybe it's too sweet, maybe it's the oakmoss. But either way, it smells like christmas with a distant scent of something turned.

This smells like "Oud for Greatness" 80 percent of the time. That being said, it’s an improved version that adds some sweetness to it. Think cinnamon sugar cookie level of sweetness with a saffron driftwood foundation. This will last 6 hours with a strong projection. Again, this has a strong relationship with Oud for Glory, a clone of Oud for Greatness. Overall, not bad, but not impressive in my estimation. 6/10

Mehhh...even though there is no oud listed, as soon as I sprayed this I got a blast of oud in my face. It quickly dissipated into a burnt sugar muskiness. Not terrible but didn’t knock my socks off.

I don't like it when I'm being manipulated, or lied to. (Unrelated to the fragrance): I have always been a fan of Stephen and his channel but after his release of “his fragrance” line I got some red flags. He often contradicts himself and upon doing further research (looking up the brand) it says Navitus Parfums is part of a holding company based in Dubai. Which apparently has been around for 45 years and have dabbled in investing in many different areas. Aside from Stephen’s promotional videos on the website his name is not mentioned anywhere, it is clear that he doesn’t own the brand. He is promoting the brand, thus he can't be objective about the reviews, not him, or his youtube friends. I hope it was built on his vision but there are just too many red flags including the trademark not even owned by him. Now everything he does with that brand seem awkward to me. With him telling everyone how much time he took to think of the logo and the name of the brand. How much it meant to him despite not even owning the trademark or any mentions on their actual site. Low key seems like a well made (but not flawless) marketing scheme by that company lol. it looks like the trademark is not even owned by him. Now for the scent - If you smelled oud for greatness, this is almost it - Sour pink toffee-candy like, with a metallic note to it. It's very sharp scent, that will hit your nose immediately. Notice the bottle color too, I do think this smells pink-red. I would expect to pay around $70 for 100ml of this fragrance, It lasts a good amount of time (6 hours on my skin), projects for 1.5 hours There are 7 scents in the discovery box, i will mention that the fragrances leaked in the box. What was important for me is to see for myself wether the hype is real, and i was proven that 'Redolessence' along with 'Brooklyn Fragrance lover' had created hype train and FOMO for this dubai company to make more $, and the way they presented the fragrances doesn't match reality/my expectations. These people don't genuinely speak out their thoughts infront of the camera. Same goes for Aaron Terence Hughes, I don't trust neither of these 3 guys when it comes to their own/friends fragrances reviews. I'm glad that i only paid $50 and didn't fall for the blind bottle purchase, as that would've really disappointed me.

Absolutio is very interesting, as most of Bertrand's scents are, but it is ultimately too weird a blend for me. I understand someone finding it magical... and I kind of do too, but I think it comes down to too many sweet elements mixed with weird things like oakmoss that "don't want to be sweet"--at least to me. It brings to mind the idea of an animated movie with a wild plot and wilder visuals (I just saw Spiderman into the multiverse... so something like that goes with this somehow.) Bringing my comments back to practicality... Almond is always risky for me and if you tend to avoid it I would say you might not like this. I don't find it woody at all--my best overall description would be a hyped up sweetness combined with herbacous touches. I will use my sample up, continue pondering this but I would not buy. I revere the perfumer--Mr. Duchafor, I'm still in your debt for Rhubarb Sherbet. (If you want to try a masterpiece of freshness by him, try THAT!)

The main notes I get from this perfume are Green Apple, Driftwood, and Ambergris with some dry Oakmoss. During the dry-down, I start getting the sweeter notes to pop out which is mainly the saffron. People around me describe the sillage to smell like sweet pastries. I am not a fan of its dry-down as I was with the opening. The dry-down gets overtly sweet syrupy losing its beautiful heart notes, it's mainly saffron and cherry like sweetness with some clean white musk at the base. It's a pretty good fresh unisex fragrance versatile for all occasions. Juice and the blend are definitely niche quality. Longevity is over 8hrs with good projection and prominent sillage from the saffron sweetness.

I have to say I love the presentation, the bottle, its very long lasting, projects very well, and the sprayer. Those are all top notch. What I dislike is the juice. I'm only going by what I smell, and what I smell is a medicine like cherry syrup. It's not my thing. I don't smell toffee, apple, chocolate or caramel. I have tried this multiple times trying to like it but all I get is cherry cough syrup. Maybe my nose is not developed enough to pick up all the notes. I feel like I'm crazy but that is what I smell. Test before you buy.

This smells a little funny. This tries to be BR540 in a woodier and spicier way. I believe this is much closer to Haltane than it is to BR540 because of how woody this smells. The saffron is strong but blended a lot with many of the wood notes. The sweetness is minimal. It almost competes with this base-heavy fragrance. And the spiciness is working with the wood notes being almost seamless.

A clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone. Did I mention it's a clone? And yes I smelled all of them thanks to a friend's discovery set.

I don't know how some people refer to this as a gourmand. It does list gourmand notes, but I barely smell them in the background. I can tell that it is blended well, but I just can't use this one. I am not sure which notes or combinations of notes are causing this but this is one of the few fragrances that I have smelled that make me feel sick.

Not worth spending your money to even sample. Huge pass on this brand.

As far as clones go this is one of the better clones of BR with a difference. Prominent toffee apple and saffron, bottle design ok but clone of RJD. Last on my skin 5-7 hours, worth the price ? no, not even with the heavy discounts Navitus offer. So here is why and here is the rub. I agree with other reviewers and in particular to Donkar, this is a company the fragrance community should be concerned with. If you are an overseas buyer like me this is how this works. You buy off the Navitus website, the money goes to Paramount Impex LLC in Dubai, you receive confirmation order email from Navitus customer services and you receive your goods, in the box is you packaging receipt from Navitus 31-37 38th Avenue Long Island NY. (a warehouse). If you receive contaminated goods like myself, the older bottles are clear and you can see floaters and brown bits inside the perfume, you would complain. I did and Navitus claim the confirmation email form their customer services is not them ! even with all the the above evidence Navitus say this is a third party and cannot give returns or refund. Note that website has no contact number or address, so why the secret and denial ? One, it dissolves all of you consumer rights, two, its a way around the regulatory bodies like IFRA and OPSS for product safety. So if you are a UK buyer beware you cant get your money back if the goods are faulty and Navitus know this. Try a claim on your credit card issuer. If you product like mine has floaters or going cloudy, don't spay on your neck or near your face, try your hand first. Steven Gaurielatos and Buck Moore as just the faces of someone selling poor quality perfume at inflated prices from a warehouse. Beware, ever had the feeling your being scammed ?.................

I normally stay away from fragrances that are likened to Baccarat Rouge because I already have it and don't care for a redundant scent with a similar scent profile in my collection. However, I was intrigued by the notes of apple, caramel and toffee so I got a hold of a sample. The initial spray is kind of reminiscent of BR540, but I think it's much more similar to Mancera's Instant Crush. Sweet and very dense smelling. After that, I get a lot of cherry (I'm guessing this is coming from the almond note) and something spicy that almost begins to smell metallic on my skin. The cherry note comes across a bit like cherry cough syrup, so I'm not loving this so far. I only sampled this to satisfy my curiosity so I'm not torn up about not liking it. But as with everything, get a sample if the notes sound interesting to you.

I would appreciate it if the review section of Fragrantica looked more like a fragrance website and not reddit. Have you smelled the fragrance? Do you own it? I and many other rational individuals are only interested in hearing about what the fragrance smells like. I don’t care about personal opinions on the individual. I don’t care if they aren’t “fragcom” enough for your liking. I just want to know do you own this fragrance and what does it smell like? Would you recommend it and when would you wear it? That’s it. I hope Fragrantica cracks down on this because I know that I’m not the only one who is tired of seeing brats complain about how they can’t stand the person behind a fragrance brand. If you don’t own the fragrance please move along and save your high school, immature opinions to yourself.

A beautiful sweet amber type vibe from the toffee. On my skin this develops so beautifully. Within a few minutes, it flirts with a great Christmas'y spice vibe, but never fully commits to being a "Christmas" fragrance. The notes would say something like apple cinnamon but I also say something like cloves in an orange. I really get captivated, and I am loving the smell. To me, this brand always represents something that it relatively safe but easy to love and a step up in quality from a lot of fragrances. It smells like the type of scent you'd see marketed at a four-star hotel in Boston. Like a lot of rich, new England type folks would really love this brand. smells expensive without trying to flash to people you are rich. This brand is the LL Bean of the fragrance industry.

This feels musky like The new Roja Parfum Colognes and really lacks the depth i was looking for and expecting. Although this is well crafted and high quality, I cannot seem to find or identify any natural notes or aspects of this that smell or feel high quality or niche to my nose at all This is the one I was most exited about and I sadly find this a bit boring. It could be good alternative to Bacarat Rouge 540 Extrait, if you can get this for around 150 usd This is not what I would expect for a gourmand fragrance at all , but it is silky smooth

Fully agree with KayelnOmaha: mix br540 and angels share and voila. But I find this leaning more masculine than either of those two. And the heavy dose of musk is giving me a headache. I can see this smelling good on a man, but my husband won’t like it (he only wants green/blue scents if you know what I mean). Going through the red discovery box my problem with nearly all seems to be that none of them are all that unisex. And no, I don’t find every perfume is unisex. I don’t want to smell like a barber shop or cigar shop, no thanks.

Absolutio is by no way, shape or form a duplicate of MFK's 540 Extrait but I can definitely smell some similarities with that burnt sugar cookie/candy apple/cherry almondness going on here. It also remindes me of Initio Oud for greatness at times but man, this juice smells so good! Salty, woody-sweet goodness. This one goes on a path of its own, being sweeter than extrait 540, however, has more depth with that kick of cinnamon, caramel and chocolate. Has great performance and just a long lasting quality fragrance that I love ❤

This fragrance starts off with a cherry 🍒 vibe that I get. Even though there's no cherry listed in the notes. I then get the Saffron. As it dries down I pick up on the Toffee then the Driftwood and a hint of the dark chocolate that gives you that gourmandish vibe. The Ambergris I pick up slightly gives you a salty vibe. Overall this fragrance smells refined and amazing. The scent bubble it creates is gorgeous. People will feel captivated when they catch a whiff of this fragrance.

If you're looking for a chocolate, caramel, toffee and apple fragrance then get Arcanum. Absolutio smells nothing like the notes. If you're looking for something that smells like christmas wreaths (cherry+ cloves) then get Absolutio. Absolutio was marketed as a gourmand scent but I think even virtus is a lot more gourmand than absolutio. I've tried 9 from navitus so far and absolutio is my least favorite. My favorite from the brand out of the 9 I've tried is aweigh

This fragrance strongly reminds me of Initio Oud for Greatness. For those that say BR540 I don't get that AT ALL. But REGARDLESS this is a very nice fragrance. Don't let the fragrance snobs hate be your deciding factor or my words either. Get a sample for yourself and try it out. Don't ask people "hey is this worth getting?" because I promise you the answers you get won't help you.

I just love Absolutio, the opening is cinnamony sweet and saffron is magically blended. The sweet mild spicy dry down is the best part BR540 and Oud for Greatness in one I guess. Whatever it is, I will buy for sure. Longevity is good 5-6 hrs on forehand I tested. Sillage was ok I would prefer to wear it in cold or probably cozy evening.

I can see why people compare this to BR540, Oud for Greatness and Angel's Share. I pick up all three of them. While it is not a dupe it smells like BR540 with the cinnamon Christmas feel of Angel`s Share. I have all three and love them all. I consequently think Absoltivo is beautiful.

Those fragrances will have same ratings like Jeremy's fragrances, and you know the reason.
