Lautus

Lautus is my first sampling of one of the new trio from Navitus Parfums; it’s a versatile offering along the lines of Navus, Primas, and Intimus, that’s fresh, but with lots of nuance and depth. The neroli and juniper, for example, remind me of Navus, while the Rosewood brings me to Primas, but also with lavender, orris, verbena, ambergris, vanilla, and woods. There’s something sultry about it, dry like Navus but slightly sweet like Primas and Intimus. It’s a really interesting creation. It’s also sharp, with the verbena and orris, but not disruptively so, sort of pivoting to a cleanness, with the lavender. I’m not familiar with cascarilla, but I suspect that its spiciness could be a key aspect of Lautus, as there’s something vaguely spicy in the background. There’s a general barbershop/fougere vibe to it (with the lavender, woods, vanilla) so it has a certain familiarity, ease of wear, masculinity, and versatility. It probably is the most signature-scent-worthy fragrance in the line that I’ve tried so far, as much as I love Absolutio and Intimus. And while it does lean masculine, ever so slightly, with some barbershop kinship, it’s certainly not prohibitively masculine; it’s quite unisex. Also, Lautus feels familiar in a way, as there’s something about it that’s accessibly crowd-pleasing, but with some departures from the norm that give Lautus its own personality. Additionally, it performs well, at parfum concentration, much like pretty much the entire line I’ve smelled to date, with the ouds being slightly stronger than the rest. Lautus is sold in the 50ml size only at $135 via the Navitus Parfums website and is available on the website of Perfumology, as well, but not yet Osswald NYC, best I can tell. Overall, Lautus is great, among my favorites from the line, along with Absolutio and Intimus, and I certainly recommend trying it out. 8 out of 10

I confused to the low ratings on this fragrance. I can understand that it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but there is nothing polarizing about it to cause such a revulsion. So, I encountered this fragrance upon purchasing the 15ml trio sampler. My husband immediately fell in love with it. He enjoy iconic fragrances like TF Oud Wood, Oud for Greatness by Initio, and Dior Fahrenheit. This really appealed to him and I think it's due to the classic lavender and juniper opening with the sandalwood dry down. It is immediately recognizable, manly (if I may say), fresh, and just attractive overall. It has a niche quality with a mass appeal as well. I purchased the full size for my husband as he has gone through the 15ml quite fast. Again, I have no idea where those "dislikes" are coming from since I've seen stinky butt fragrances on here with less dislikes, which leads me to think there's something behind that. If you're a regular guy looking for a unique and attractive fougere that can be an everyday, signature fragrance, this is excellent.

Too bad there appears to be politics going on with the low scoring of this Frag. Seems unfair and potentially misleading. My take: The opening is just stunning. Chypre'/ Fougere like aromatic. Rich floral, slightly green/citrus. The Yuzu in the opening and the unusual heart notes create a fairly unique scent. Nicely projecting, superbly blended with a slowly transitioning dry-down to beautiful woody vanilla. Very expensive smelling. Seems to me it would be quite versatile. 9 out of 10 for me personally.

@Andy The Frenchy i have 10ml decant of Roja Dove Danger parfum cologne! But it has this cumin note that in my skin smells like sweat it's awful! And also i pay $70 for my bottle of Lautus at ebay! I would never pay retail for any fragrance when you can buy it cheaper at ebay you just have to be careful of the Russian users who sell rip off bottles and check if the user has 100% of good transactions!

I have read so much hate for this scent, some people say that is a copy of Roja Dove Danger! But when i get to the Roja Dove Danger page here i read that it is a copy from Heritage or Guerlain or Tom Fors White suede, i don't know why this site is getting so toxic. I just want to smell nice.

I purchased a sample trio which included 15 ml bottles of this, Arcanum and Opulentas. This is my favorite of those and it smells to me, a lot like Penhaligon's Blazing Mr. Sam. Ultimately, I think is this is very unisex though I find it opens with a traditionally masculine smell.

I love how elegant this fragrance is. I think it's traditionally "masculine" but I love the way it smells on my skin. Very creamy, long-lasting citrus with lavender & sandalwood scent.

One of the best daily and casual wear fragrance. it very good in Lasting is esly 6+ and projection is very good in starting 2 hr

Vintage version of Davidoff Zino Compliments? One, but I have not worn this one very much. This one starts out like the vintage version of Zino Davidoff. A warm wood soaked in citrus and sprinkled with Lavender. A good Barbershop type of opening. A few hours in, the citrus starts to fade a bit and I get a smooth, creamy, slighly sweet sandalwood with citrus overtones. A few more hours it Lautus becomes a slighly sweet and slightly spicy wood scent and remains there. I get good projection and longevity on my skin. This leans more masculine to my nose. If you like Zino Davidoff, or barbershop scents, you should try a sample of this one.

This is ok. Its dry down is earthy, dark, and interesting. It is quite masculine and does make you curious the more you smell it. It's alluring to my nose. It makes me wonder. This would not be bad as an everyday scent and I believe that it would be likable as a signature. I'm not sure this would appeal to the masses, but it would make you stand out if that's your vibe.

It is nice. Very nice opening. However, it is a cheaper and more synthetic version of Danger with a higher artificial vanilla note in the dry down.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Copy Roja bottles. Copy Roja Scents. Charge $195USD a bottle....haha. Just go with the real thing, Danger, and you will not be duped.

Lautus retails for $195/100ml. A fragrance highly inspired by Heritage and Zino, sold in a copy of a Roja bottle. Isn't what we call a clone? Oh no....sorry.... It's only a 'clone' when it's a Middle Eastern brand that releases it, but when it's an American youtuber, it's just 'inspired'.... At least, Middle Eastern houses have the decency to sell it for way cheaper... what a rip-off. Clearly a potential strong design patent infringement case, here. @Chino1690: yes, Danger is very inspired by Heritage and Zino, and so is this one, but given the bottle and price tag similarities with Roja's, I think that it is fair for people to think first at Roja. For who just want to smell nice, Zino retails online for $20 and Heritage for $50. No need to go feed the sharks, like Roja or Steven, for example. That said, if one wants a higher-end take on Heritage or Zino, I'd suggest to go for Roja's Danger Parfum Cologne, which retail for only $30 more than Lautus at discounters, and is vastly superior to this one. Had Lautus retailed for under $50, my verdict might have for sure been different. In terms of smell only, I give Heritage EDT 9/10 Zino 8/10 Lautus 7/10 Danger PC 9.5/10 Just make the ratio price/quality math.

Very pleased with this fragrance..elegant, classy barbershop style, my favorites...reminds me a lot of Zino Davidoff with a citrusy touch up top. Overall for me it is an upgraded Zino..there is also a profile resemblance with Roja Danger Parfum Cologne..Performance is very good. A great every day modern upscale fragrance. 8.5/10.

Reminds me of a barbershop'd version of La Nuit by YSL. Jury is still out on whether I like this one or not.
