Raised Spirits

I ran, not walked, but ran to this site to comment after receiving the newest batch directly from Navitus which took 18 months to macerate. Well over a year ago I decided to change my diet by becoming a teetotaler along with cutting back on white flour and sugar. After experiencing this pimento opening it turns out I’ve just decided to wear the booze and chocolate. I can’t drink like I used to, but at least now I can smell like I still do. The opening hit me with this warm, boozy rum note reminiscent of a stronger Monkey Special opening, the kind that instantly transported me to a koa wood-paneled Hilton Waikoloa Village Hawaiian lounge where the chairs are worn-in wicker and leather where the mierda is this buttered coconut accord coming from, and the bottles on the shelf have been waiting years for the right company. Then that caramel and brown sugar rolls in, sweeter than a Butte, MT Casino barmaid winking at you after payday at the coal mine. The opening is not flashy and it’s not loud. It’s simply comforting. Postscript Uno: My dioses mayas del grano de cacao this stuff is maikaʻi loa excelente. Six hours later and the dry down is a beautiful Tahitian vanilla bean that avoided morphing into a cloying powder, although I wish there was more tobacco in the closing act. I may be mistaken, but I also smell a faint rose for some odd reason. The sillage remained strong for roughly three hours. Postscript Deux: This is the third consecutive day I have worn Raised Spirits.

How to write a review that accurately describes this?! It's truly amazing. I sampled first, as boozy fragrances are usually too loud on my skin, but as soon as I sprayed, I smashed the button to buy a full bottle. Vanilla - check Sweet - a bit, but balanced Boozy - yes, but not overwhelmingly so What makes this a real "stand-out" fragrance and different from another boozy vanilla (::snore::) is the pimento leaf. This is magic. And with the oak and cashmere wood, it gives the fragrance a smooth and grounded landing. I get no tobacco from this -- but perhaps the vague impression of a wet tobacco leaf if I think really hard about it. I would never claim this this had tobacco in it if not prompted by looking at the notes. Overall, dark and mature. Perfect for cool weather and gloomy days. My husband says it smells like the old fashioned doughnut shops with creaky wood floors and spiced hot drinks that you might still find in the Catskills in some tiny town that time forgot. This is just SO GOOD. Great staying-power, too.

A rich boozy sweet caramelized vanilla and tobacco fragrance. Quite unisex in my opinion. With 6 sprays I get a nice scent bubble and 8 hours of wear time. I love how weather plays a part in this scent. In the warmer weather I get that initial blast of pimento and Rum and tobacco. The caramel isn't as sweet. It's like being tipsy from a glass of rum while smelling pipe tobacco that hasn't been smoked yet. In the colder weather I get this beautiful rich caramelized vanilla tobacco fragrance that has a slight booziness to it. Now it is a bowl of sweet caramel candies and vanilla taffy next to a bowl of sweet pipe tobacco that hasn't been smoked with an empty rum glass that still has a lingering scent next to it. I find this to be quite sweet in the colder weather and more spicy in the warmer weather. A beautiful gourmand fragrance that I love to wear all year but definitely find it more feminine leaning in the cold weather on my skin.

This is a warm, sensual fragrance that perhaps leans just a bit masculine. I am shocked that this doesn't have any cardamom in the notes, perhaps it's the tobacco in this that reads like cardamom to my nose. It is such a cozy scent that I find very comforting with a lot of similarity to one of my favorite fragrances, Jovoy's Remember Me. To me - Raised Spirits is a bit deeper and heavier and therefore better suited for winter, whereas Remember Me is my perfect fall scent. But honestly they are similar enough that I do not need them both.

I was scared it was going to be too sweet because of the caramel. I was also worried it might be too smoky because of the tobacco. I even feared it could be too green due to the pimento leaf. But I was WRONG! It arrived in my mailbox just a minute ago( July 20/25) complete with a mini sample of the same (Raised Spirits). I sprayed it on my wrist as I walked back home. This is SEXY, SEXY, SEXY! 🫦

I am addicted to this fragrance! It was one of my most worn fragrances last winter but today I craved it, so I decided to wear it. Glad I did!! Wow, what a difference warm weather does to “cold weather” fragrances. My husband said -after an hour of wear time - “you smell like candy.” I said “Sexy candy?” He said “no... just candy.” 😆 Whatever. This is definitely back up bottle worthy.

Starts off green and aromatic with the pimento leaves. Mid notes are very reminiscent of jazz club, married to by the fireplace, with a bit of vanilla 28. Deep dry down is almost 100% by the fireplace or most similar to Emir Camp Fire by Paris Corner.

This one is so damn good. It is also back in stock at Navitus, per an email I received from the brand. Run!

I expected a very gourmand scent but the pimento leaf really augments this fragrance. I get a boozy rum topnote initially, with the pimento leaf really pulling it in an interesting direction. The pimento leaf is ever so slightly herbal but adds an element of spice. This scent is not cloying or sugary at all. I've not tried Minuit et Demi (or Changing Constance) so i can't comment on whether this is a clone of anything, but the notes in this one differ enough that i wouldn't say it's meant to be an exact clone. Moreso a boozy fragrance inspired by other similar fragrances but taking a different approach to the drydown. That's fair game. Overall this is a slightly boozy, spicy vanilla with a little bit of a cozy woodsy backdrop and a vague hint of tobacco. Not as sweet as i expected, so i'd say it's very unisex, possibly even leaning a touch masculine depending on your tastes.

I’ve had a 3 ml of this for two years that I’ve tried on and off and a finally getting down to the last of it - this is a wonderfully boozy, woody, lightly smoky scent. Now that it has aged significantly, it is almost nuclear in its longevity and the woodiness or tobacco element seems very dense and concentrated yet sweet. I would compare this to tobacco vanille, by the fireplace, frapin 1270 also comes to mind, maybe even some other incense-forward fragrances as well. It’s pretty intense. One spray on my hand in the afternoon overtook the other fragrance I was wearing and I can still smell it the next morning and on my sheets. I think I prefer this on a man—I don’t think it’s necessarily masculine but it is very cigar bar, bourbon vibes and I’m not sure I would want to wear regularly.

It’s extremely similar to Changing Constance. If you have, you almost don’t need the other one. Raised Spirits is a tad sharper and has a noticeably greener opening due to the pimento leaf vs pimento in Changing Constance. I haven’t tested the longevity yet, but I think Raised spirits will last longer.

Navitus excels at long lasting gourmand fragrances and this is no exception. Whether it's a dupe or inspiration it is long lasting and perfect for both sexes. All of the gourmand notes are easily detectable and sillage is great without being beast mode.

Dry down is similar to Changing Constance but stronger, and the vibe is along the line of Minuit et Demi, so if you like those you may really love this. I don’t love it because of the opening though. The “spirits” part of the name Raised Spirits is very apropos, because it opens *very* boozy, and smells like actual liquor to me. I don’t do shots anymore but this reminds me a lot of my favorite shot I used to love when I did. It was called a “royal butt” in the bars I frequented, and contained Crown Royal and butterscotch schnapps. This perfume smells exactly like that to me, and as much as I loved that shot, it does bring back memories (some pleasant, some not so much) of drinking too much and acting up in bars.

It needs to macerate for 2 to 3 months. I bought it fresh and it was all straight pimento leaf, butter and salt. The smell of bouillon cubes. Only after 2 hours the scent started to dry down to sweetness and becomes very cozy. Now 4 month past, I can appreciate the composition. But it is still hard to wear, you still smell a little like roasted chicken. Fun holiday scent, Thanksgiving juice.

They were very clearly trying to dupe Minuit et Demi from Fragrance du Bois as they smell very similar. This is made even more clear when you look at the note breakdowns side by side; the formula is the same. All of the people I've seen claiming otherwise are biased youtubers pressed to be the next Navitus collab. I'm not crazy about oak so I prefer Minuit et Demi as it has cedar instead. It's not a bad fragrance at all, but it's 100% a dupe. As with everything that comes from Navitus, I prefer to sample first because some of the scents are redundant for me as far as scents I already have. And this fragrance was indeed a solid reminder of why I just won't blind buy from this house.

This does remind me of Minuit et Demi, but they’re not identical. Raised spirits opens up with a blast of fresh black peppercorns. The peppercorn note is so realistic it really took me by surprise. As it dries down you get that delicious blend of caramel, brown sugar and tobacco with some of the spice from the peppercorns. I kept waiting for it soften in the drydown, but it stayed pretty rich. It’s a much stronger and full bodied scent than Minuit et Demi. I can see this being unisex, where Minuit et Demi is more feminine since it’s a little fluffier and sweeter. Longevity is great, I get all day wear from this.

This is just fantastic. Leans pretty masculine in my opinion because of the warm spicy mix (rhum, spices, tobacco). Slightly boozy, slightly spicy, a touch of tobacco and just a wonderful caramel and vanille. Caramel and vanilla are really the king here. It feels like a distant cousin from Jazz Club, if you swap the main notes (rhum and tobacco vs sweet caramel and vanilla)

So I got this sample and compared to changing Constance and minuet Demi fragrances. They all smell very similar however this is my least favorite bc it smells more masculine and the opening is a little harsh with the pimento leaf. Constance and Demi smell almost identical to my nose with Demi being the winner bc of longevity.
