Virtus

To my nose there is a strong resemblance here with grand soir, but it's like a distant cousin. A bit sweeter than grand soir, with more going on. There's a strong, savory, almost gourmand vibe that encompasses the entire fragrance. The vanilla and benzoin are noticeable but not overbearing. There is an immediate kick in the face from the spices in the topnotes, especially the nutmeg. I get a strong patchouli presence in the opening as well which augments the nutmeg in an interesting way and really minimizes the terpy-ness you typically find in cardamom and nutmeg. Fruit lovers, be wary of the mango and fig nectar notes here. They are not hugely present in this composition to my nose. They exist to dull the other stronger notes. You occasionally pick them out when they shine through, but there's enough other notes that they tend to get lost in the mix. Imagine Grand Soir but with a bit of an animalic, almost oceanic vibe from ambergris, sage and driftwood. Add some tobacco, nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom to spice it up and drizzle honey and wax all over it to keep the spices from stealing the show. Add a side of over-ripe mango and a smidge of fig pulp. That's what you have here. I think this is unisex, though some might call it a bit more masculine. There's a sweetness in this fragrance but it's very tame. I gave this a proper wearing and i loved how it's such a chameleon. One minute you're smelling honey-drenched tobacco, the next you're getting bits of mango and fig or spices and patchouli. The patchouli and ambergris are really not that skanky, to my relief.

Gorgeous! I will be buying a full bottle soon! It's hard to find a tobacco fragrance that is perfectly unisex, but Virtus is just right. I put off trying this house due to the low ratings and people saying that the line is full of clones (it's not). I'm actually furious at Fragrantica and the moderators for not taking action against the unjust hate certain houses get. I misleads people. Obviously Fragrantica does NOT put fragrance first. Beware. Always sample for yourself!

This is a gorgeous fragrance. Completely unisex. It has an earthy wet tobacco accord in the beginning and as is dries down it gets sweeter without ever being cloying. It develops a slightly fruity vibe to add to a honeyed earthy tobacco aroma in the bulk of the wearing. I'm loving this!

This is an amazing fragrance! It has beautiful rich notes of Tobacco, fig, honey and Ambergris! Its better than a lot of niche fragrances and is very affordable. The projection is good with a fantastic performance. One of the best tobacco fragrances. Its worth trying!

The smell is mysterious, enticing, delightful. One drop on my wrist and I was constantly smell-checking for hours. I can see why people may not like this- the tobacco musk can be overpowering for some. However, for the rest of us... This is a world of wonder.

It's an excellent tobacco fragrance....it gives vibes of sweetness,creaminess and excellent tobacco notes and many more.....feels complex in nature... Bought from perfumologist in india.....Very good lasting also....

Another unbelievable fragrance from Navitus. I bought Intimus a few months back and just received Virtus. Both are just great. Performance is very good on Virtus and extremely good longevity.

Definitely a Red Tobacco smell alike. The opening is not as weird as Red Tobacco which is great and Virtus has longevity and it performs well. It smells awesome.

Navitus Parfums Virtus is one of the original seven that I’m retrying as part of the first discovery set, and its milky sweet fig / tobacco combination is front-and-center from start, and largely defines the fragrance for me. It has spicy nuances that are very interesting, as well, stemming from notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, fitting partners to include with the sweet, milky fig accord. I do also detect the vanilla and a vague woody quality, as well, while missing most of the other notes. There’s something vaguely familiar about it to me, but it does not remind me specifically of any other fragrances. I’m not a huge fan of fig-intensive fragrances generally but Virtus is more or less right up my alley in terms of fitting my own appetite for gourmands and semi-gourmands, with the spices and vanilla further making it a bit more foody, even with the tobacco. And I feel it’s a well-crafted fragrance, very good on performance. The Navitus Parfums line is sold on the house website, currently discounted, as well as on the websites of Perfumology and Osswald NYC, both of which also sell samples. 7 out of 10

It was a long long road for me to finally get my Virtus. I preorder at launch and it went into customs hell for over 4 months so I was ready to give up when the day finally came and god damn was it worth the wait! To me Virtus has a very complex composition and just getting a whiff puts so many images in your head, it’s a great collection of notes and sensations. There is the sweetness of the honey, the creaminess of the fig milk, there’s some woodiness with the driftwood, spices and the main player is a gorgeous tobacco. Virtus is quite an olfactory experience that didn’t disappoint. Performance is very good, I went to bed 7 into it and it was still going strong.

This is a delightful spicy, dried fruity concoction. It seems perfect for: cold day hunkering down with a book; jazz bar with friends; date night too but maybe not first date. It has a lot of personality. On me the prime elements are the spices up top, the honey and beeswax I think, and then tobacco/vanilla. Recommend it definitely.

HILARIOUS This is both funny, interesting and quite a statement that Navitus has chosen to clone one of the few Alexandria fragrances (Hafez 1984) that is sold as an original creation... That said, I love them both - Great perfumes!

@larvikite what are you talking about? I own both and similarities go as far both using tobacco as a main note. They are both great and yes, they both fit the same occasions but clones? Not a chance

Sniffing my way through ten samples from this house, and I'm realising they're mostly syrupy sugar-bombs, and this is one of the sweetest of them all. If that's your thing, you might like this but this type of perfume is nauseating to me after 10 minutes max.

Beautiful opening, but then after about 10 minutes it became a skin scent and nothing special as the opening. I was very much looking forward to this perfume, I was disappointed but only because of how weak this perfume was on me.

This is straight up Mancera Red Tobacco, which is a great DNA imo. The opening of Virtus is nice, but it gets too milky and proceed to a cloyingly synthetic phase in the drydown. I suspect it's one of those aroma chemicals that prolong the fragrance longevity. Bottom line - if you've got Mancera Red Tobacco or Carlisle by Parfums de Marly, you can skip virtus. If not, then you should be comparing these three side to side and decide really.

Fragonard used to sell these amazing Fig Tobacco candles, but sadly they discontinued them. Ever since, I have been searching for a perfume that resembles that intoxicating smell 💔 I was using the search by notes feature on Fragrantica when I found Virtus, and I was excited because along with fig and tobacco it contains saffron, which sounds like a heavenly trio in my head 🤔 Upon first spray, the predominant notes that I get are tobacco, beeswax absolute, and honey. The honey notes are beautiful, EXCEPTIONAL even, but sadly the fig milk and saffron are lost to me 😔 As it dries, it patchouli becomes the strongest note in the composition. I finally understand why people sometimes describe patchouli as chocolate-esque, because here I definitely get the smell of dark chocolate. While I think this is a solid perfume, unfortunately it is not exactly what I was searching for. I agree with @aaronmy, as this perfume enters the dry down it DEFINITELY reminds me of Red Tobacco. That's a perfume I'll never forget 😅

The opening has (to me) a strong propolis note. Maybe it's the composition of beeswax/honey/saffron/patchouli. The daffeon is blended beautifully btw. Just plays really well with the other notes and is not sharp at all. Then I get a delicious fragrant tobacco that is supported by the saffron. The patchouli is not the fragile kind, rather solid and a little bit damp but not at all trying to push everything else down (which is rare on me because my skin amplifies patchouli very much). All in all a very classy scent. And although I somehow picture a guy in a tux in a whiskey lounge it is a unisex fragrance that I would wear as well.
