oooo this is really nice. I got this sampled and the atomizer arrived broken which is a bit of a piss take but oh well. The fragrance it self is absolutely beautiful. To me this is a really nice, sweet, spicy syrupy smell that smells like narcotic delight on absolute crack. Damn this is good. Boozy, sweet, spicy and syrupy. Things you may have heard before but you need to try this its so so so good. also ive never had this happen with any other fragrance but at work i wore this once and i got 2 compliments from customers throughout the same day randomly at different times and they asked what i was wearing so that was pretty awesome good projection and performance

Now this is my love, it's musky woody and warm, opens with sweet and soft cinnamon and cognac then becomes sweet musky and woody with some nuances of tobacco complementing this perfectly. One of my favorites to be completely honest

This does just smells similar to angel's share but lord it smells so calming in a way, such a soft experience. Its mostly woods, cognac, and cinnamon being mostly present throughout the whole wearing experience.

Extremely beautiful , it reminds me of Tobacolor/Tony Iommi, but not sticky sweet like them, it's more of a musky/dry cinnamon tobacco boozy scent.

For me this combines musk and tobacco in an amazing way, the cognac does support the tobacco with a sweet touch which I love. Amazing fragrance!

Beautiful scent, i strongly recommend it, specially if you enjoy sweet fragrances. One of my favorite perfumes of all time.

Love it! Never been a big fan on wearing a perfume daily, however this one changed my mind.

I love it when my husband wears it!

It's not listed as a note but I get a very strong licorice scent. I like it. Not love at first sniff.

A perfume named after a prisoner opens with cognac. A liquid that calls itself zek—Soviet camp slang for an inmate—arrives wearing the smell of a brandy glass dusted with cinnamon—which is to say, the smell of the interrogator's study. Pleasure sold under the name of suffering. The verdict could be written in three lines. I did not want to write it, so I went looking for an escape route first. This essay is the record of that route, and the proof that it is closed. The escape route was this. What the narrator of Shalamov's Kolyma Tales dreams of is not freedom or justice but sweet condensed milk in a can with a blue label. What Ivan Denisovich counts at the end of his day is the extra bowl of kasha he has managed to get. What camp literature testifies to, again and again, is that at the extremity of deprivation the imagination does not turn toward abstraction; it turns toward sugar, fat, and warmth. Dreams do not grow poorer. Dreams grow concrete. Might Zek's cognac, cinnamon, and tonka be read, then, not as the smell of the camp but as the smell dreamed inside it—pleasure remembered rather than pleasure possessed? The conditions under which this reading would hold can be stated precisely. The smoked wood in the base would have to keep its distance from the center of the warmth, framing the sweetness throughout as something not here. And the drydown would have to resolve not as a depiction of pleasure but as its recollection. The evidence says otherwise. It paints, almost systematically, the opposite landscape. The most eloquent review describes this scent as everything you would want to taste and smell inside your home on a freezing, snowy night—superb cognac, plum-filled gingerbread, baked cinnamon—and closes by reporting hunger, a craving for winter pastries. Note the geometry. The snow is outside the window; the nose is inside, by the hearth. It reverses the prisoner's position. Another witness wears it to work and is surrounded by compliments; the community's classification ranks smoke last among five descriptors; the tobacco is described as bright, light, irresistible. The testimony speaks of this perfume consistently in the present tense. The warmth is not remembered. It is owned. The author's own gloss weighs against this reading. The official text itself explains the smoked wood as an evocation of crackling bonfires, a symbol of strength forged through hardship, and the tonka as a comforting conclusion that mirrors triumph. The smoke-as-distance that the dream reading required was never part of the intention. And this same text does not speak of the history invoked by the name. It tells a creation myth—God, ashamed of Siberia's barrenness, never looked back—and praises resilience, while remaining silent on who sent people there. The name says camp; the copy says God's shame; the liquid says gingerbread. The three layers do not betray one another. The two layers beneath the name are in perfect agreement on the depoliticization. And my own wear test settles the account. On skin, Zek is a cozy scent from first to last, and it does not change character into the drydown. The sweetness is there; the membrane of recollection never forms. The smoke is certainly present but never comes forward—even the crackling bonfire of the author's gloss remains, on skin, a background ember—and the moment when it might work as an instrument of distance never arrives. What remains is the substitution test. A proper name can be said to belong to a work when replacing the name changes what the smell means. Strip Mitsouko of its name and something is decisively lost. In fairness, the instrument should be calibrated. There are two ways a name and a smell become inseparable. The Mitsouko mode is historical—a century's chain of reference, a fixation accumulated after the fact—and it cannot be asked of a 2023 release. But there is a second, structural mode: the name's claim is legible in the composition from day one. In Molecule 01 the name simply states the structure; in Odeur 53 the concept can be read off the liquid at once. What this test demands of a new work is not the former but the latter—the weak criterion that renaming it would cost some part of its meaning. And the criterion is agnostic as to mode. Not only earnest illustration but irony, the Duchampian gesture of declared arbitrariness, pure poetic contrast—all are passing modes, so long as they can be read. If the cruelty of selling hearth-warmth under a prisoner's name were signaled anywhere as irony, renaming it would destroy the irony. In Zek there is no such signal. The composition is silent, the author's own gloss—bonfires and triumph in dead earnest—forecloses the ironic reading, and an irony no one can read is indistinguishable from the absence of irony. Zek fails the weak criterion in every mode. Rename it Fireside, and the only thing lost is this essay. Not one molecule of the formula demands revision. In this liquid the name functions not as an organ of meaning but as an exotic phoneme on a label; indeed, among all the testimony I was able to examine, not one person stumbled over what zek means. The depoliticization begins in the copy and is completed in the reception—and this is not an indictment of consumers' laziness but a description of structure: in a discursive space that lacks a critical apparatus, the heavier the name, the more frictionless its passage. It should be added that half of this failure belongs to the gradient of the medium. Perfume is a hedonic consumer good, and every commercial force tilts every composition toward the hearth. That is precisely why a heavy name is a declaration of intent to design against the slope—at least for a house that itself proclaims what its names mean and presents its naming as a program, the choice of a name is itself the assumption of an ethical load. In Zek's composition there is not one trace of resistance to the gradient. Material: 7/10. Solid construction within a saturated genre. What deserves note is the design of its persistence: the boozy cognac impression does not vanish with the evaporation of the top notes but lasts for hours on my skin—suggesting a boozy accord woven into the heart and below (damascenones and whisky lactone, I would infer). The unanimously praised drydown owes much of its quality to this endurance. Together with its reputation for price-performance, this is honest work in the value-niche tier. Had it been sold under the name Fireside, this essay would have given it the same score and a short recommendation. Concept: 3/10. The prisoner's name does none of the work the name demands. The ambition of the naming program—Zek, Azad, Prometheu, Leviatán, an attempt to build the thematics of captivity and freedom into a house grammar—commands a certain respect. But in this first work the name is borrowed gravity, and the liquid does not even notice the weight of what it carries.

Zek, by Necalli, smells like the most delicious cognac in the world, tobacco leaves, smoke, plum filled gingerbread and baked cinnamon. This fragrance is absolutely delicious, it is everything you want to taste and smell inside your home during winter, on a freezing, snowy, late-evening. The perfume is very strong, it has a 25% concentration and it lives up to that concentration. Zek made me hungry and left me craving winter baked treats.

Probably the most masculine out of Necalli's whole line. Heavy cinnamon with musk, wood and amber that are blended perfectly.
