Secret du Nil

This is pretty random. I purchased a whole bottle of this, maybe two years ago? I have not worn it one time. Not one time. I have no idea why, I just never got to it. But, one of the things I love most about this interest is rediscovering. And that's one reason why I purchase items even if I don't get to them right away. Secret is one of those that had to wait for a time. It was worth it. I live in northern California and it's already pretty warm. I think it was 70° today two days after the end of February. I was not expecting anything specific when I sprayed this. I forgot what it smelled like. I'm glad I did! Upon application, I experienced a very realistic and high-quality bright and bitter orange blossom. Very very beautiful. It reminds me of Neroli From PR. My favorite brand of all time. And my favorite bitter orange fragrance of all time. In my opinion that is the pinnacle of a bitter orange blossom fragrance. Secret is not better, but it is similar! And in my opinion, that's considered a home run. The biggest difference is the gentle sweetness and the bitterness that comes from the almond within the composition. I do understand this brand encompasses honey in every fragrance, but I don't sense much here. I'm fine with that. I'm sure it's there supporting the beautiful orange syrup. Every note is very well balanced. It's fresh, like you are putting your face up against a wild orange blossom bouquet next to the Nile River. That is exactly what you get. No individual or egocentric personality coming from the perfumer. I don't like that in this composition and I'm happy it's not here. The exceptional orange blossom in its entirety, settle comfortably next to the Nile River. I do not say a fragrance is gorgeous much, but it is here. It's not projection mania, but it's good enough. The same goes for longevity. This is perfect for the daytime. A daytime date perhaps. On a sunny day! It is very elegant in a carefree and casual sort of way. Not too formal at all. But not juvenile either. You certainly have to love Orange blossom, and if you don’t, don't bother. But if you do, you have to try this! Do not think of this as too sweet or gourmand on the almond, this is not that at all. This is a well balanced fresh white floral with a gentle breeze of sweetness. I have noticed that luckyscent has gotten rid of three fragrances from this brand including the ones from Bali. I find that interesting for some reason. This brand does not get talked about much and I think that is unfortunate. This fragrance alone is worth talking about. I can't speak for the others, but I can speak for this one. Especially for $200, it is a good purchase for someone whom loves orange blossom. If you are a collector, you have to have this in your collection. Especially for spring time. I highly recommend!

Secret du Nil is one of those perfumes where patience is rewarded. The opening is woody and citrusy, pleasant enough but not particularly remarkable. However, within less than ten minutes, the fragrance transforms and reveals its true beauty. The drydown is where the magic happens: a smooth, expensive-smelling blend of creamy almond, soft musk, and subtle vanilla, supported by elegant cedar nuances. It feels refined, comforting, and effortlessly luxurious without becoming overly sweet or heavy. I was also pleased to find that the honey note is not prominent on my skin. As someone who generally doesn't enjoy honey in fragrances, I was concerned it might dominate the composition, but fortunately it remains well in the background and never distracts from the beautiful creamy-musky accord. What begins as a fairly straightforward woody-citrus scent evolves into something much more memorable and sophisticated. For me, the drydown is the star of the show and the reason to wear this fragrance and also the fact that it is a very unique scent to me, unlike anything in my collection!.

This is so beautifully done!! Angelic, almost! Actually, at first spritz, this reminds me of a bath gel for babies made by Klorane. I used to bathe my babies with it...It’s very nostalgic to me. Now, it’s not at all shampoo-y and soapy. It’s very citrusy at first but with a good amount of powdery-ness and sweetness. There’s a delectable aspect to it that brings this fragrance to the edge of a gourmand but not quite. The floral notes keep it from veering into full gourmand territory. This is so beautiful and especially in warm weather, it is magnificent. Does it remind me of Egypt or the Nile as its namesake would suggest? No. But it sure is nostalgic, soft and very tender to my nose. I love it!! This is just a sample and I hope to get a full bottle very soon!!

This is beautiful! This is sharper on the opening neroli and orange but I love it if you like neroli your safe. And the give it a few minutes it becomes soooo smooth creamy neroli vanilla and sweeter with orange and honey on my skin I can smell the honey and sugar and it does definitely transport me to the Nile! I am in love it was a blind buy as the site was on sale and I’m so glad the was successful as this has mixed reviews about being to sharp and bitter! I know peoples skin has different chemistry but this is amazing if you like orange blossom kind of scents vanilla neroli you will like this. It’s now not just a new relief it was a good purchase it’s a new front of shelf favourite!

This fragrance has captured my heart by how many beautiful childhood memories it evokes. The best way I can describe it is...blissfull youth. It is not youthful in a way that is immature or unwearable; the bitterness in the almond and citrus notes counteract the sweetness from honey and icing sugar, which is then grounded by a musky-cedar vanilla base. The result is a soft, airy citrus vanilla scent enhanced with candied nutty goodness. It projects incredibly and is not overwhelming with great longevity. Very suitable for year-round wear, daytime wear, cozy days in, you name it! Amazing value for the price IMO.❤️ Update: The dry-down smells VERY similar to the OG Princess by Kilian!

A gem. It is all I can say. Ethereal perfume, great for spring. Is uplifting, bright. It literally makes me smile every time I wear it. This perfume is radiant, floral confidence, is bright, but still powerful floral aura, not light or girly, but think flowers that smell and look expensive, this makes me feel sophisticated and noticeable. Similar to Sintra and perdizione, which I own, but this found a home quicker here through its uniqueness. Safe blind buy.

I've never been a lover of neroli, but this is beautifully done. Rather than sharp or bitter, here it is smooth, enhanced with a bit of honeyed sweetness and softened with almond. I am becoming a real fan of this house.

So, I recently became intrigued (once again) with mixed (and slightly gourmand) almond-centric fragrances. After completing much research online and elsewhere, I decided to buy generous sample decants of: ~1725 Casanova Histoires de Parfums ~Secret du Nil Nectar Olfactif ~Blu Indaco Giardini di Toscana ~Almond Harmony The House of Oud And I must say, I really love all four fragrances much more than I hoped I would! I think I just love a pretty, well-blended almond accord! This is surprising to me because almond is not a note I actually thought I enjoyed (as much as I do). Secret du Nil is a very pleasant surprise. I know zero about Nectar Olfactif and I don't believe I've ever sampled their fragrances in the past. I definitely never owned a full bottle. Secret du Nil opens quite differently from the other fragrances because upon application, the neroli, bitter orange and orange wood notes are very evident. I like the opening because it is not the spritzy, tangy, sharp, or bright opening one might associate with citrus fruit openings. The neroli and the bitter almond keep the fragrance from becoming too sweet. Because there are honey notes listed in the perfume's ingredients, I braced myself for sticky-sweetness overload. But again, the perfect blend of bitter almond, neroli, orange wood and honey keep the fragrance beautifully balanced. Secret du Nil is a bit sweeter in its drydown...but not too much. Throughout its wear, I detect bitter almond, bitter neroli, orange wood, cedar, honey & vanilla. The perfect blend of bitter and sweet notes makes this perfume pretty spectacular. But note: DEFINITELY MUST LOVE NEROLI in order to have this perfume work for you. The neroli is omni-present. Not sure if Secret du Nil is full bottle worthy...but we'll see how it goes! A very lovely, wearable, unique perfume for sure!

This is very nice, the opening is sharp neroli, so you do have to enjoy neroli to like this one, but then in the drydown becomes sweet and almondly creamy.It is so well blended,but i don`t`know what to say about the performance yet, it seems like a more close to the skin scent which is not necesarly a bad thing, just don`t expect a beast mode:) Update:i gave it a full day test, unfortunately it does not last at all on me, after a couple of hours i can barely feel it (maybe in my hair...but that`s all) i will begin to try some layering with it to see it i can get something better.

I am obsessed with the opening of this fragrance. I get a ton of bitter orange + neroli that makes my eyes roll back its soo nice then the sweetness comes out soon after. I really enjoy this fragrance. My goodness! I will get a full bottle soon as I pass my boards lol. This will be my treat. Can anyone also suggest any fragrance that encapsulates the opening notes? I would love to sample

Very nice and familiar profile (Memo Sintra, Kilian LDS) but this one is on the gentle side.

My opinion of this keeps changing. I’ve gone from loving it at first to not liking it at all 😂 I also love the original D&G Devotion and this is nothing like it! I do think it does smell similar to Sintra by Memo Paris which I actually like and have bought since testing this. So the initial opening is really punchy, in your face neroli. Once it dries down (a couple of minutes) i found the scent to be absolutely gorgeous initially, however it reminded me of something I just couldn’t put my finger on. I realised that something was dry shampoo. The scent also intensified! I sprayed it on and went to bed. When I woke up, the already strong scent of this had quadrupled. I had to scrub it off. I can imagine this would be really overpowering on a hot summers day. If you have Melipona from this collection, layer it with Secret Du Nile. It transforms both scents into something divine. Unfortunately I just can’t wear this on its own.

I see mainly positive reviews of this fragrance, but I would certainly recommend to sample before you buy a full bottle. The top notes have something which could not be appealing to everyone. I don't know exactly what it is. Is it the bitterness of the top notes ? It was a no-go for my wife :-(

Opens with a blast of bitter neroli (reminiscient of Guerlain Nerolia Vetiver Harvest) and quickly transitions to something that smells like sugary orange blossom, almost IDENTICAL to D&G Devotion. Hilarious. Sometimes I also catch a wiff of toilet cleaner smell. Thank god I only got a 5ml decant.

I began searching for a decent almond scent that was not too mainstream or overly sweet, as I wanted something unique and feminine. I own Bois Dore by Van Cleef & Arpels , with this being completely the opposite of that one. It opens with a burst of bergamot ,neroli & suprisingly well bitter orange ( love it)which creates an initial bright impression that does not last very long. In the background, there is a note of fresh nuts, although I would not describe them as almonds. They remind me more of fresh hazelnuts as if one were picking them directly from the tree. Unfortunately, this fresh quality fades quickly, much to my disappointment( some below don’t like teh first burst of freshness). It dries down into a very comfortable, sugary, almond-like fragrance. It is not generic, but rather somewhat different from anything I have smelled so far. I would consider it a great option for a signature scent. However, I would not say that it lasts very long. Its longevity is around 5hours&it remains quite close to the skin. I enjoy this perfume because I like exploring niche and unusual fragrance houses that are not widely promoted by YouTube influencers. Overall, I would rate this fragrance 8/10. I would certainly repurchase it, as I have found myself wearing it for 3 days in the row before I decided purchase it,which is quite unusual for me.

Beautiful, feminine, and unique. Okay so first things first, here's the actual note breakdown (from the european site I bought from): Bergamot, Bitter Orange, Almond Orange, Neroli, Roasted Almond, Honey Vanilla, Sugar, Cedarwood, Musk If I had to pick the most prominent notes in this I'd say they are are the almond, a powdered sugar, and neroli. Starts out a powdery almond with powdered sugar and the bitter orange/bergamot combo in there adding zest to the sweetness. In the mid, the orange is more prominent; it's sweet and honeyed. The almonds and powdered sugar are still there (now a little less powdery than the opening) and the neroli also really blossoms. This perfume doesn't dramatically from the opening to the mid like some fragrances do, but the bergamot and bitter orange and some of the initial powder do tone down a bit and the honey vanilla orange facets come out to play more. Still there is always that zingy fresh neroli uplifting it; this never becomes gooey, and the almond as well is very prominent. Vanilla becomes more and more noticeable longer in the wear. This is definitely a gourmand, plenty of sugar here, but nothing gooey, sticky, or heavy.

My newest obsession 🤩 got a sample and immediately bought a bottle the next day. I got a “damn you smell good” compliment lol. It is so nice though. The reviewer below me described it well. To me it’s an almond powdered sugar scent with neroli sprinkled in. Gourmand for sure but not cloying at all. Has an airiness to it, nothing heavy. Sweet but in the best way and can be worn in the heat no problem. Very femme, youthful and pretty. Also this has outstanding longevity and projection, just wow. So happy to have discovered this one! If you’re looking to buy this, I found mine at profumixluxurybrands - they have great customer service and ship fast to the US.

I love melipona but don’t like this at all This opens very sharp and has a bitter soapy neroli note throughout. I don’t get any sweetness from it It definitely has moderate projection and I could smell it quite strongly- has a vintage quality to it but not in a good way Does not smell like devotion at all which I love. This is like a dated neroli soapy scent with no gourmand facets like devotion has. Devotion is candied orange this is just bitter neroli and bergamot Definitely not for me I scrubbed it off

I was so impressed by the beautiful reviews below so I got a sample, but eventually did not really like it. It is not modern or youthful or airy, in fact, it is very dusty and powdery. To me, it smells like old person's body odor mixed with dry neroli and bitter almond. I don't get honey or sugar or any kind of sweetness. It also reminds me a vintage fragrance from Caron called Farnesiana.

I am surprised at the "Reminds Me of" section, because Secret du Nil does not resemble the orange blossom+marshmallow perfumes like LDBS and Guimauve at all. It's very pollen-y, it's so photorealistic on my skin that it reads as fuzzy. If you've ever eaten raw bee pollen then you know what this smells like, it's not plush and marshmallowy at all and the sweetness comes off a little smoky.
