Souls on Fire

In the opening, I immediately notice a potent and fresh pink pepper. I almost feel that it gives off a sort of fermented scent, but not in a bad way. Osmanthus, and also jasmine, are the main players in the opening. They provide a beautiful, white floral character. There is also civet, which gives the flowers a sense of completeness and is reminiscent of older floral perfumes. In the background, there is labdanum, adding a sticky sweetness. As it begins to settle, the jasmine becomes even more prominent, and the overall scent turns more floral. The pink pepper, with its freshness, disappears, along with the fermented note. I start to notice a tobacco note emerging. It is not strong or overpowering, but soft and sweet. In the dry down, much of the floral character fades, leaving mainly labdanum and the tobacco. I find the perfume very calm and gentle, evolving significantly over time. It projects well, but not excessively. It does not last very long, as it is primarily a natural perfume, which typically has less longevity. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys floral scents, or to those looking to try something new and unique.

First impression: Freshly made dry apple cider with spices and soft animalic notes. When I close my eyes I can definately see a warm sunset, and it evokes a faint memory of the sound of an acoustic guitar and laughter in the far distance. It is really giving "evening picnic in the height of summer"-vibes. Very beautiful and pleasant. Smokeandhoney here below gave it a just description, I totally agree! Edit: it just came to my knowledge that Neshama use natural civet. I was going to buy this, but then I saw the "contains real civet" on their homepage. I wish they could use synthetics, I cannot support civet farms or hunting for the sake of human vanity no matter how sustainable they say it is... :/

I made a Fragrantica account just to leave this review, I'm really impressed with this scent. The opening is a sharp mix of pink pepper, basil, and tobacco. I didn't immediately like the opening but it's since grown on me, especially knowing how good it gets once it dries down. Speaking of, the dry down is an intoxicating creamy apricot from the osmanthus with an intimate quality courtesy of the civet. It sits very close to skin which I actually love. It's one of those scents you catch a whiff of every now and then and are reminded how good you smell. It's sensual in a very "nuzzling into your lover's neck" kind of way. Leans feminine. Intimate but not provocative.

The moment I smelled this for the first time it sailed up to my top three perfumes ever. This is my perfect fruity chypre. The animalic notes paired with the fruitiness of osmanthus and some of the zestiness from the basil and pink pepper ... I’m in heaven. This is heavenly and perfectly sensual. I also met Simon Shaer, the perfumer, at a fair and was amazed at his vision and perfectionism. Looking forward to buying everything from the brand.

The scent is so unique, and so beautiful. All notes are so nicely blended and balanced. I can’t say exactly which note is more prominent on my skin, but it’s a fresh and unique scent. Love at first sniff. I’m looking forward to se what Simon comes up with next🌸

This smells luxurious and rich. I literally couldn't pick out 1 note on my own. I thought maybe it was iris and amber. Even reading the notes, I would be lying if I said I picked out them smelling it. This smells opulent.

Perfect perfume for any season, any gender,not sweet too sweet, perfect Really universal perfume. Smell is expensive

Absolutely beautiful. Just a shame I am so averse to the smell of basil as it makes it difficult to put into the love category for me. That said the sillage is beautiful, just if you don't like that harsh basil smell then don't smell up close on skin. It has a real fermented cider-like vibe to it, which is lovely. Dry herbal notes help lift it up and turn it into unique fresh summery scent. If you're wanting a deeply unique scent that gives a Mediterranean summer picnic vibe, give this a try!

I think this one is a gem. Lovely opening. Alluring. I like the hint of tobacco in the drydown. Great performance. Not for me but I do enjoy it. Wouldn't be mad if my wife wore it.

I see a lot of other people love this one. Unfortunately, something is smelling almost like a fecal oud on my skin primarily and I can't get past it. I know there's no oud listed, but this is how this scent is coming off on my skin. Perhaps it's the civet(?). I'm getting a bit of florals underneath, but not enough to save this one for me. For that reason, this is a "must sample before you buy" perfume.

For me, this is Golden Hour in the Greek Islands, bottled. It evokes a very specific time and place of midsummer evenings in Greece, flowers emanating their fleshy, humid, indolic fragrance after the day’s scorching sunshine. The musky, animalic tones feel like the warmth of skin that’s basked in sun rays all day, aglow with fresh sweat, scattered with sand and crystallised ocean spray. The hay like tobacco lends a raspiness just like the dried up shrubs on your walk back from the beach along dusty roads and just enough basil to lend the herbaceous essence of slightly scorched olive groves drifting in the warm winds. Although this perfume evokes memories of summer for me, it can be worn in cooler climates. It isn’t strictly a warmer weather perfume due to its depth and dark edge. It is full bodied and voluptuous, rugged and textured and so natural. A beauty of a perfume that is more than just a scent or a note pyramid, it is a feeling, a colour, a place. I’m honoured to write the first Fragrantica review for Souls on Fire.

Astoundingly good stuff. I would compare this to Bandit to be honest. Weirdly, I get a big galbanum at the top. A musky Galbanum Osmanthus with sweet, golden dried tobacco leaf. No galbanum listed though, so it is perhaps the osmanthus providing that leathery, bitter, fruity, slight IBQish nuance. Don’t get much jasmine either. This one should have won that year of AOA tbh. Linear but a very, very complex and nuanced smell. Golden sunlight. Note: I have the original old packaging so the batch formulation could be slightly different than the current, not sure though
