Amazon Lily

I like this. Which is weird, everyone seems to hate this. I do not get any citrus. I do not get any 'industrial cleaner.' Instead I get this refreshing, green scent. It smells like Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. You are in a swamp and aquatic animals with lots and lots of teeth are trying to eat you. It's green and fresh, but there are watery notes and metallic notes in there. It's a very strange and unique scent, and apparently I am one of the few who adore it. I will be buying a full bottle. UPDATE: I have bought a full bottle. UPDATE: The drydown: It smells like you have just been swimming in a lake. You have just been swimming in a lake, a lake full of predators. This is just completely addicting. I can't stop smelling myself and I can't stop choosing this perfume over all the others in my collection. Completely compelling and thrilling. UPDATE 07/02/2018 - I am still in love with this stunning, unique scent.

This ones weird. Blind bought this cause it was getting discontinued despite the negative reviews. Hated it at first but slowly got used to it. Smells literally nothing like lilies or the amazon. It smells like lime freshner you can get at target but with like wild animal pheromones mixed in. I feel like if I wear this in the rurals a stag is gonna jump and dry hump me. I found myself coming back to it though. You'd have to test this one out before getting it cause its very niche to put it nicely. Its gone now so good luck getting your hands on this musk bomb.

I love this perfume. I think the main note on me is bergamot, but it doesn't really smell like a citrus cologne. What it smells like is sweetarts. Originally when I sprayed this on, I was overwhelmed by smelling like a sour candy! But now, several years later, it's really such a refreshing and different smell from any other perfume I've ever tried. It does smell completely synthetic, it's true. But all of the nest fragrances have hours of longevity on me (odd, as most perfumes have very little).

I'm back, and with an updated review ! So I dug this bottle out of the back cause I happen to be broke and in need- It actually smells lovely?? In recent years I have gravitated towards musky scents so it only makes sense that its an immediate yes for me now. But I couldn't shake out the febreeze citrus note that I remembered it having. Maybe its cause its had time to age in my closet but its actually much more pleasant than I remember. Will absolutely be in my rotation

A humid scent, watery/aquatic, weird, and right up my alley. Truly what a Brazilian jungle would smell like. Please don't be dismayed by the negative reviews. This is one you have to try for yourself. I prefer the hand cream to the EDP, but both are perfect in small doses. I'm actually pleased that so many people dislike this scent; it keeps the price low for me!

I'm new to perfumes, but I feel confident that this bizarro scent is definitely not for everyone. Blasting, astringent citrus out the gate with hints of ammonia, which soften gradually to a cold but brilliantly sexy musk. It's both repulsive and addicting. I absolutely love it.

One of the most beautiful scents I have ever tried. Subtle greenery (like vegetal, fresh herb garden greenery, not like juicy apple greenery) , mixed with soapy woodiness. Great projection and performance. A pity to be discontinued.

I love this scent. It reminds me of gingerale. Whenever I get a whiff of it during the day I feel energized. It really is effervescent. I especially love it for the summer. It is tropical without being too sweet.

Citrus and lily on a woody musk and the lily is dominant in a beautiful green bouquet. My favorite of the Nest fragrances.

Who knew zesty lime and fresh lily went so well together?

Five years ago, Nest was my introduction to niche perfumes. To my nose now, they certainly smell synthetic, but not cheap... there is such a thing as good synthetic and bad synthetic! I am fairly young in Perfume Years, so I missed the Glorious Golden Age of Fragrance by a couple of decades. Yes, I love the vintages I've smelled for their nuance and richness, but most of the perfumes and colognes I have put up my nose these last five years have had lots of synthetics. That doesn't necessarily mean a perfume smells bad or cheap or doesn't have a good performance. Overall, I think Nest is a good entry point for someone who wants to explore niche perfumes. They're often offered as freebies at Sephora, and they all come in a rollerball, so you don't need to take a lot of expensive risks to experiment with them. That said, Nest Amazon Lily is an interesting one... It's not beautiful. It doesn't need to be. It's weird, which is sometimes better. Anyone expecting a true floral will be disappointed with Amazon Lily. Yes, there is a lot of lily under the harsh citric opening, but it's not precious or flowery in a traditional sense. Another reviewer mentioned that Amazon Lily is distinct from common lily, and it's certainly not what I was expecting at first sniff. Amazon Lily is not a safe, mall kiosk fragrance. It will never appeal to the masses. This is a swamp fragrance for swamp people. This scent is conjures a vivid scent memory: this is the smell of a swamp coming to life again after the winter. The snow and ice are melting, but pockets of snow still remain in the deepest shadows. Here and there, there are clusters of crocuses and shoots of grass. Some of the trees are already growing leaves, and there’s mud everywhere. It’s loamy and living, green in the way algae is green. This is a New England swamp in early spring: it does not smell tropical at all to me. The opening is harsh, yes; there’s an almost turpentine-like smell to the first minute. Then the citrus hits: it’s a strong, sour punch. Very vibrant: if this stage had a color, it would be fluorescent. I can’t say that I can pick out the individual citrus smells either, so I’d say they’re blended pretty proportionally. The citruses linger for a few hours, gently fading into the watery green base. User Michelle12345678 mentioned that the drydown smells like you’ve been swimming in a lake, and I agree. It lasts 5-6 hours, with moderate sillage. Amazon Lily is a winter and early spring fragrance to me. In the summer, or in too much humidity, the loamy green heart of it goes fetid. So many people assume that light, citrus scents are warm-weather fragrances only, but I have discovered that my personal chemistry seems to “curdle” when I wear strong citrus in the heat. A lot of reviewers seemed to get that rotting note, so I would recommend trying this fragrance in cool weather. It just might surprise you!

This was a blind buy for me when it was on sale on Sephora's website a bit over a year ago or so. I had purchased Paradise a month prior in the same manner, and one of my best friend's signatures is still Indigo to this day. So I was definitely beginning to develop an appreciation for this brand and it's take on the floral genre. I can definitely say that this was an... experience. An interesting olfactive journey for sure, lol. I hadn't (and still haven't) smelt anything like it, but I couldn't decide if that was a good or bad thing. I really wanted to give this an honest go because it was very unique. So, I held onto it for about a year and would periodically wear it throughout in hopes that something would click. Nothing ever did. No chemistry here. I always got this damp and green yet sour clean laundry(?) smell. I definitely did not detect any type of floral note, much less lily. I always felt like my nose just couldn't adjust or get used to it. I eventually gave up and gave it away to a friend. Now this is not to say that it was a sad/bad ending for me though. Funny enough, I hung out with the friend I had given it to on several occasions afterwards, and each time I would compliment just how good he smelled. He would have this fresh, green, and lightly sweetened clean musky aroma project off of him. I finally asked him what he was wearing after the third time we'd hung out. To my surprise, it was Amazon Lily! It smelt amazingly on him, and has become one of his signatures. It just goes to show that body chemistry really does play such a huge role with fragrances! To sum it up, it's not something that I would wear again, but on the right person it CAN smell great.

Wow, I really thought I would hate this- given the reviews AND that i'm not a huge citrus fan. I got a couple of samples before deciding if I wanted a full bottle. Right off the bat I can tell you that there is a significant difference depending on where you spray it. On clothes, it's more synthetic. It's colder and sweeter, like green apple dish soap. Smells like a scented cleaner or nailpolish remover. Very ethanol / alcoholic. But the wood notes come out sooner as well. On my skin, a very warm citrus. Warm but somehow smooth, 'glassy' green and watery at the same time. It sort of reminds me of Versace Bright Crystal in that way (not the notes themselves). As I said, I'm generally not a fan of citrus, but maybe I'm just lucky with the 'right' skin chemistry for this- because I find it very unique and refreshing. To me it smells like the oils from an orange skin that you just squeezed. Strong, but not synthetic. Gojo hand soap! Potent and astringent... Tart and limey too, similar to a verbena leaf. If you've ever smelled those little red bergamot flowers, it's similar to that as well! There is something a little pissy and animalic in there. I don't want to say 'indolic' because that might suggest the headiness of jasmine- which it isn't! It's almost more of a fermented smell- like when sugar turns to alcohol. It's sort of reminding me of a very citrusy cocktail. Like a gin gimlet or daiquiri. If I were a citrus fan, I would definitely buy a full bottle. But this is not "me" and I know i'd probably never wear it, so I can't justify owning a full bottle despite being a Nest fan. Overall weird, fun, tart and unapologetic.

My reaction to this fragrance is vastly different from most of the reviews. To me, this does for Amazon Lily what Carnal Flower does for Tuberose. It misbehaves to the point that I cannot resist its strangeness. I don't like the smell of Madonna Lilies (common White Lily), so I didn't even plan on sniffing Nest Amazon Lily. However, while in the Sephora-fragrance-tester-stampede, when trying to grab Indigo I picked up the wrong bottle. Even before the paper strip my nose went into High Alert..."Unusual! Odd! Impelling!" Those three words tend to be my first reactions to fragrances that wind up hypnotizing me into craving them. After looking at the title of this (expecting it to say "Indigo") I thought, "Lily?" I recalled that real Amazon Lilies are barely related to White Lilies...so this is not supposed to smell like a Baiser Vole kind of lily at all. Amazon Lily is a tropical shade plant that has flowers which look more like a white daffodils than a typcial lily. It has a delicate, sweet, green scent. As an exotic flower, Amazon Lily is complimented beautifully by tangy citrus notes, making this perfect for summertime. This scent has an effervescence that I would have thought was impossible to bottle. For my nose, Christophe Laudamiel's creations center on a main note that is altered into something other than itself. He forces unexpected reactions that often have begun as dislike, until I take the time to analyze on a visceral level. Personally I would be disappointed if the creator of Paris 1738, New Jersey Turnpike in a thunderstorm, and French Countryside Fresh Manure formulated predictably.

It's a very unique scent--not at all a crowdpleaser, not a safe blind buy. Lime in this is super heavy and honestly overpowering, I would like it if it were less prevalent. Longevity is atrocious: barely 2 hours; sillage: it's more of a skin scent. Citrus is definitely strong in the beginning, mellows out later to the notes of lily and musk. Personally, I like this fragrance, but again, I don't think it's well blended because the lime overpowers all, and sillage and longevity were poor. If I could get this for cheap I would rebuy, it's a very unique scent which definitely draws me in, but otherwise it's simply not worth the price.

The citrus is very strong -- I think it might be better marketed as unisex. Has that very strong "masculine" citrus blast in the opening. But after the first five minutes or so the lily comes in and it sweetens the mix. The lime is sharp but not so sharp I felt uncomfortable wearing it. It was especially delicious and sweet about an hour in, and I received many compliments on it -- the lime mixed with the sweet lily almost makes a sort of linden blossom scent. I found it delightful.

I had to dab this on twice before I could get a full impression it was so weird and quick to dissipate. I get the limey citrus scents immediately but somehow it smells fizzy like selzter water or something. There is also some type of sweet undertone in it which I presume is the lily. It is almost completely gone in 15 minutes which sucks since I am sure I could dab almost all of the splash bottle away in a week.

Not my cup of tea however the reason I like it. Is because the description of this fragrance is to a T. This completely and 100% no question would smell like the wild jungles plants of the Amazon. A very strange one indeed. I know one thing I've never smelled anything like it or even close before.

Oh, I like this. First spray is sparkling lime and it dries down to this peppery, musky floral. But it's not heavy, it's a light spicy scent. Perfect for summer. Unfortunately, it doesn't last more than two hours on my skin.

Okay LOL this is a tough one to describe. I'm an enormous fan of the way Nest does florals and how photo realistic they can be (i.e Midnight Fleur, Wisteria Blue, Sunkissed Hibiscus...) so because of that I rarely gravitated towards more citrus-centered fragrances they had. I bought a sample of this now discontinued perfume to round out my Nest collection and for that reason I will keep it by oh my goodness..... it's something else lol. My experience was one spray on my skin and I immediately smelled this overpowering and synthetic storm of citrus; it smelled quite similarly to any kind of lemon floor cleaner you can buy at a store, but mixed with the most mind-numbing amount of bleach. It is headache inducing, artificial, and sooooooo powerful. However, like most other Nest fragrances, my favorite part-- and in this case the redeeming part of the frangrance- is what lies beneath the tops notes and what is left behind after the initial citrus presence wears down. It's *stanky*, like a humid, murky swamp; you smell vapor, wet earth and steam rising from it. It's almost animalistic, like you can smell what reptiles have recently trudged through the mud. If I could remove two of the citrus top notes and dull the remaining citrus note considerably, I would genuinely enjoy this fragrance. It is certainly an experience to anyone who smells it.

An unrepentant entrance of what I think of as the unripe peel bitters of lime and other citrus fruits without the fresh redeeming qualities or juiciness. On the heels of this sharpness is a (really quite lovely) white lily that is often left overpowered by the citrus to do more than finish the scent on an unsure, nervous puff of apologetic lily. Easy for someone to mistake a whiff of this for ammonia burn in the nostrils, so if you look to experiment with this have a care for the other noses around you. I was able to pick apart the scents after sitting and sniffing the rollerball I got for a while and once they clicked into place the thing was much more palatable, but I can't expect family, friends, and coworkers to spend time studying my perfume when it introduces itself so rudely. Final word: not for me, but I would love to know what someone with different body chemistry would find in this. Nest is never boring, if only the lily would partner with the lime on me instead of being overpowered by it.

This is not a crowd pleaser, and I'm not crazy about it. From the notes it looks right up my alley, but somehow the combination just doesn't smell as one would expect. I blind bought it cheaply when it was being discontinued because the same perfumer created Nest Paradise, one of my favorite scents of all time. I haven't gotten rid of this yet because I'm still trying to tell myself I'll give it a try again in a different season/stage of life, etc. and will change my mind...whether or not that will happen remains to be seen. Each time I give it a sniff test, I decide I should wait longer, lol! I suppose I should give the dry down a chance again, but I just never want to suffer through the initial sprays.

I typically love citrus scents, so I gave this a whiff at Sephora. I adored the top notes of lime and tangerine, and I splurged on a rollerball. My body chemistry works well with citrus, and generally I have a forgiving attitude to strong scents. I swore to wear it in moderation and hoped for the best. Sadly, after wearing this a few times, the citrus comes across like the strong air fresheners used in large, multi stall restrooms to cover up smells. It does not soften on me, which is surprising given the musk in the formulation. The overall effect is acrid and unpleasant. I am keeping the rollerball for the art alone - the floral print on black is stunning. Too bad the juice does not agree with me.

As so many other reviewers have stated, yes, this scent is very febreeze/Industrial cleaner/yuck. I bought the box of 7 NEST samples from Sephora, and while I love Midnight fluer, Indigo, Dahlia & Vines and Verde, (and am on the fence about Paradise) I just can't stand Amazon Lilly (or White Sandalwood for that matter). I wanted to like it because the scents sound like they'd be beautiful, crisp and clean; this is crisp like a shot of bathroom deodorizer in the face and clean like a bucket of Lysol. Sadly, I can't find any beauty in this one, but I'm glad some people can! It's headache-inducing on me. :( Definitely don't blind buy Amazon Lilly - test her out first.

Wow... did someone say Pledge... I'm definitely one for scents that are out of the norm and pushing boundaries but right now I'm in complete disbelief with the fact this company decided to move forward with such a scent... unreal... all this should be destined for is a public toilet air freshener. Seriously now... who the heck wants to smell like this!? Waste of a stunning bottle. 3 hours in: Even after numerous attempts at scrubbing this stuff off and failing miserably I still wreak. No joke - unless the thought of smelling like a squeaky clean hardwood floor excites you, don't even bother attacking your senses with this mess. OMG....

While I normally don't care for white florals, I heard this was strongly citrus and in my head amazon read oriental frag so I dove in. This is the first citrus I don't like. The musk was very animal, and seemed almost dirty. It wasn't fresh and it wasn't deep or spicy. The citrus animal scent did invoke pledge and bathroom floor cleaner. I was intrigued at something so different, but in the end, I would only wear this if I was having company over and I wanted them to believe that I had been cleaning - to the point that I smell like cleaner. Luckily, it didn't last too long on me.

of all the 5 new scents by NEST this one is literally intolerable to have on your skin. i agree with the other reviewers, it smells like an industrial cleaning product, with an almost artificial, sickening overuse of bergamot and lime. its the kind of scent you spray in a house to cover up even worse olfactory offenses. i may add this to a spray bottle and keep it by my toilet. no really... that's just about all its good for. you've been warned. steer clear of this one unless you are a sadist and enjoy giving yourself full-blown migraines.

This is a very soft fragrance. This would maybe last 4 to 5 hours with minimum sillage (on dry skin in air conditioned setting). It opens with soft citruses, a hint of a floral note and then a lot of clean (soapy) musk. It's ok...to me this mostly smells of freshly laundered sheets (or laundry in general....fabric softener). It's a nice scent, just more of something that I would associate with "home" rather than a personally identifying mood. Overall, I will probably use the sample size for a room spray instead of a perfume.

This thing is a murderer. I went to the Nest counter to test Midnight Fleur then the sales assistant dabbed this on my wrist. This scent murdered my nose I called my perfume shopping that day a quit. I continued my shopping that day. I entered the comfort room 4x to wash the darn thing off. On my mind to the assistant, "What's wrong with you?" Very strong. Sillage and longevity. Just a dab on my wrist it gave me trouble. Completely desensitised my nose. It is nauseous.

I'm not understanding the name of this scent at all. There is no lily. And now I'm reading the notes, I'm even more confused. There is no citrus for me. Only straight from the bottle pine tar, and it never gets better. Maybe I got a bad little bottle, but this smells exactly like Christmas tree sap; the gummy stuff you can't wash off after hauling a tree in from the car. At least there's a good holiday memory or two that gets jogged.

After reading some of these reviews I decided that I had to try it at Sephora to see if it really is that bad. It is. No, it's not Secretions Magnifiques bad, it's not gross, it's just... bad. Smells like cheap room spray at best, industrial floor cleaner at worst. It's not that it's some awful blend of notes, it's a fresh, citrusy perfume, just cheap and chemical smelling to the max.

I was really looking forward to trying the Nest fragrance line, but so far I have been very disappointed. This is industrial-strength Pine Sol mixed with spruce. Very synthetic and sharp. I agree with the previous review that says it smells like bathroom cleaner. Could be beautiful as a home fragrance, but just does not work on the skin. I feel like I just Febreezed myself.

I thought I would enjoy Amazon Lily, as I generally enjoy lemony scents. This fragrance is a lemony floral that makes you feel as though you are walking through the jungle (or rainforest, I suppose). Unfortunately, it doesn't change much. It begins with a citrus freshness and stays a citrus freshness for at least a couple of hours. After that, it is a skin scent.

Holy god! This was a sample in my Neiman Marcus bag. For the price this is utterly sick! I tried, I really did. But then I saw the price! Heck no. It just smells. I mean I thought I got a hint of green freshness but nope it just smells like some random air fresher thats tryin to be cool. Sorry I'm not letting this one in my club!

I think I might like this more as a Home Fragrance or Room Spray. The lime makes this too sharp for me to wear as a perfume and even as it has dried down, it doesn't have that feel of a perfume. Too cold feeling. It doesn't have the sensuality that a Lily scent should have. I have the roll on EdP and I'm willing to swap.

Really do not like this at all. Too sweet on the initial blast and then leaves a strange drydown, unpleasant to me. Good thing that it fades away almost immediately. I received this as a Sephora sample, and I'm glad I didn't waste money on it. Very strange combination of scents is all I can say.

Amazon Lily smells of lovage, celery, parsley, and cilantro. Zesty lime is mingled with bitter orange for a fresh scent that may lean considerably sharp. This is is a kitchen clean sort of fragrance in a way that your hands would smell like this after handling citrus and fresh herbs.

Okay, I bought this without testing it first - dumb, I know. It smells like Clinique Aromatics - Blech. Too strong, too chemical. I scrubbed, and I can still smell it. I would ordinarily like the notes that are supposed to be in this, but I think the bergamot is overpowering.

This smells like cleaning products to me. And not in a good citrusy clean way. In a musky industrial cleaner kind of way. It reminds me of the stuff you might use to scour a public bathroom floor... or this perfume off your arm. Yuck.

This smells exactly like the industrial cleaner they use in the bathroom of my local Target. I'd rather not smell like a public restroom, thanks. Awful!

I definitely get the freshly laundered sheets scent that some reviewers mentioned. However, I was surprised to see what the notes actually were when I looked on here. I got a sample of this from Sephora with a purchase I made a long while ago. I put it aside and forgot about it...until recently. When I first sprayed it, the smell gave a unique impression. It was the fresh linen smell, right away. When I sprayed some of the sample on my skin, I started to smell a bit of sweetness. Not a cotton candy sweetness, but one that was crisp in a floral sense and mild. As I wore the fragrance into the night, the fragrance began to smell like notes of grassy honey (mild and subtle)drenched over fresh lychee, assertive white pear, and sweet lily on my skin. Very much these notes. The lychee likeness was quite strong, actually, and secondly, the pear. But I see that there are no such notes, excluding the lily, so I find this quite strange, surprising, and interesting. The fragrance seems to transform into something different than intended on my skin. This is a unique and curious fragrance for sure. It's not a fragrance to be over-sprayed, though. Too much and you run the risk of ruining the aromatic atmosphere that the scent brandishes. A spray or two here goes a LONG way. The scent is also best judged on the skin after being worn for awhile...try it. It might be an acquired scent for some because of it's unusual scent profile.

I decided to sample this frag because the bottle design drew me to it. Wondering about the contents I sprayed once and walked around for several hours and off and on the scent would waft by and I would wonder what is that wonderful smell and realized it was the Amazon Lily drying down. To me the scent remained linear but stubbornly refused to leave. An overly sweet cloying bouquet that has no citrus that I can detect. Even now after close to 5 hours it lingers but I do have to put my nose to my arm to smell it. It is not overpowering unless you spray more than once. The initial spray is quite generous. . Take in small doses, very small doses to not overwhelm your olfactory senses.

It's... nice. Just nice. I wanted the opening sweet lime and tangerine to stay, at first it smelled like something Clean would put out (I love Clean's scents), but that lasted all of 5 minutes and then the tangerine nearly disappeared and the lime settled down and the lily took center stage. I like the driftwood and white musk base. Overall, it reminds me of a perfume I used to have, Michael Kors Island, but without the white florals and watery note. Again, *Fluttershy's disappointed voice* "It's... nice." I'm glad it works for my skin, the other reviews make it sound horrific. I'd buy a rollerball of it, especially for layering, but I'd never pay Nest prices for a bottle of it.

I tried this from a sample and was delighted to experience something just a little bit harder to come by. I like all the notes listed but was totally unprepared for what I experienced. It's really strong on me. After an hour it settled in and was wearable but I don't care for it much. The word for it's vibe eludes me but I'll say it smells sour. Not very accurate I admit but its not floral or sweet but something else entirely. It seemed very linear, smelling the same from application in the afternoon to waking up the next morning and sniffing my wrist. If you like the scent you will be pretty happy with this one since it has good projection and lasting power.

This is the second Nest fragrance I try, and I dislike it as much as Midnight Fleur!!Goodness, who is behind such horrific creations? Strong, disharmonious, I do not know really who this perfume is supposed to attract, not the ones liking nice scents for sure.. Harsh zesty notes mixed in with overdone lilies, plus the driftwood gives it a weirder edge...to avoid..

Weird astringent fragrance. Very fresh. Certainly not a crowd pleaser, and not a cleaning agent type of smell (at least to me.) Sharp, candied citrus like Pez or Skittles, mixed with something aquatic. Sweetens a little throughout the day. I would wear it on a cloudy Spring or Summer day. Vegetal, watery, herbal, more like a greenhouse than a forest.

Absolutely beautiful scent! The perfect citrus! Very zesty but much more rich! The lily really adds to this ! Update: So I've been playing with this and I've come to the conclusion that it smells very similar to what orange suckers smell like with a bit of spice. I totally love this scent and so do all of my coworkers. Two thumbs up!

I will agree with the previous reviewers that this smells too sharp and not the best citrus smell. It caused an allergic reaction in me. I expected sparkling white florals, and this perfume was quite disappointing.

The lime in here is SUPER loud and sour on me, and I'm just barely able to get lily. As others said, it's very sharp and not a sparkling scent. Musk didn't develop since citruses are very dominant on my skin.
