Indigo

To me, this smells like you are standing on a street corner on a rainy spring. You're not sure what time it is - possibly mid-afternoon - but it's hard to tell with the dark clouds overhead. You've just stepped out of a café and are taking cover from the rain under its awning. You're holding the cup of brown sugar Earl Grey you just bought, the steam rising up and wafting under your nose. Cars drive by, the sound of their tires on the pavement hushed because the asphalt is wet. The public garden across the street is lush, the foliage a deep green, the fresh mulch a rich brown. You push aside the wad of mint gum you've been chewing for a while to take a sip. This fragrance is dark and woodsy, but still fresh, herbal, and even a little sweet. I actually find it gets sweeter as it wears on. Just beautiful, and unlike anything else in my collection. When I inhale deeply, my sinuses fill with a cool sensation, as if there is menthol in this. The square shape of the bottle with its simple black cap makes it feel a bit like a cologne, but the floral artwork in the background gives it a graceful touch. Perfectly unisex in both scent and presentation, and suitable for any season and occasion. A skin scent through and through, even just shortly after initial spray, though it has an impressive longevity close to the body. I can still catch whiffs of it when I lean down or turn my head well into the 6+ hour mark. This might seem a little overpriced because the projection and sillage are not great. Howvever, NEST is currently changing their packaging so you might be able to find a discounted bottle at your local TJ Maxx (or Winners, for my fellow Canadians) - I was able to find the 50mL for $60 CAD.

The first second: cardamom hits me instantly, maybe because I'm very familiar with it from cooking Indian food at home. I sense fig as well, but that takes another minute to open up fully. 2 mins: the tea is introducing itself. Hello there! Reminds me of all those sickly sweet green tea frags that were ubiquitous a decade ago, remember those? But this tea is much more sophisticated blended with the fig and the cardamom and an undercurrent of wood that I know in fact to be 1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydro-1,2,3,3-pentamethyl-4h-inden-4-one (or cashmeran), but which my brain is telling me is pine or possibly cedar, the wood scents I've known my whole life. I feel like I've ventured into a dark but soothing forest. 5 mins: Realize I've been smelling bergamot this entire time without being conscious of it. Have to close my eyes and really focus in order to detect the bitter citrus, but when I do find it, it's sumptuous. 10-15 mins: Scratch what I said before. I'm not only AWARE of the bergamot, it's practically sitting on my lap! And it's the root note of this citrus-fig-wood chord that I've fallen absolutely in love with (a comforting, grown up love). 4 hrs: all I'm getting is cashmere wood and bergamot now. It's a teeny bit soapy smelling, but that's because it's reminding me of soaps that contain cashmeran. Not sure how it smells to anyone else, but it makes me feel sultry. I enjoy this on me but would love it 10x more on a man... yum. Thank you Indigo.

I never understood the idea of a perfume that makes people cry. Until I smelled Indigo by Nest. I grew up in the PNW with a lot of rain and moody weather almost all year round, surrounded by some of the most magical natural beauty in the country. This perfume brings me back to long rainy hikes as a young child with my mom. Standing underneath a waterfall in the Summer heat as a teenager with my friends. Fresh out the shower, getting ready for school during a cloudy morning, with a mug of piping hot black tea. Without discussing the notes, this perfume is simply my childhood in a bottle. It is fresh, clean, and so so moody. It is calming without being somniferous. Even just smelling the bottle brings me so much peace, like I can conquer whatever the day has to throw at me. I am absolutely in love with this perfume. THAT BEING SAID, I was shocked to see cardamom on the notes list. I am not getting any sort of spiciness from this perfume. It is a fresh, clean scent with a bit of sweetness on the dry down. I can't imagine anyone disliking this perfume (that's how much I love it) but the scent is definitely not appropriate for every occasion. Not my go-to going out perfume by any means. This fragrance is a slow morning, cozy night in, or a hangout with one or two friends. Also pairs really well with weed smoke in case you were wondering. Songs it reminds me of: "Rivet Gun" by Mother Soki, "Reflecting Light" by Sam Phillips.

A hidden gem among tea-inspired fragrances 🍵 This feels like a true masterclass in tea-inspired perfumery, and not the kind that reminds you of a generic tea bag from the grocery store. The scent evokes a small Chinese tea shop. It is herbal, green, slightly tart, with a faint tobacco nuance. Imagine opening a rustling kraft paper bag filled with loose tea leaves tightly rolled into slender needles. Each one seems ready to unfurl and fill an entire cup. Teas like this often carry long, poetic names in Chinese, something along the lines of “The Brows of a Wise Elder from the Great Mountain.” I would not be surprised if a mountain herbalist smelled exactly like this ^____^ The experience is quietly meditative and grounding, much like the focused stillness of a traditional tea ceremony. Beneath that calm lies a darker, contemplative depth that brings to mind an overcast afternoon by a countryside lake, where the air carries soft watery and green vegetal nuances. The fig note dissolves into this aromatic landscape rather than standing apart from it. Instead of sweet fruit dripping with syrupy juice, what emerges is closer to the scent of thick tart fig leaves crushed between your palms. What impresses me most is the unexpected complexity. Many NEST New York fragrances lean toward being simple and linear, but this one unfolds gradually and reveals new nuances over time. Beautifully balanced and entirely unisex.

When you look at a fragrance collection like Nest's, you get a balance of wearable and crowd-pleasing scents while still getting uniqueness. I love a lot of the smells in the Nest family, but Indigo is one that I think about a lot. I've never smelled anything like this fragrance, and I'm amazed with how well this scent is crafted. Indigo reminds me of a cozy day in on a rainy spring day. The first moment of it on my skin is sharp, but not unbearable. Once it dries down and it mixes with your skin, it blooms into a really dimensional and comforting fruity, green scent. It moderately projects for around three hours, then settles into a softer skin scent. This makes it very versatile and able to fit many preferences. I currently like this as my post-shower scent, but I try to fit this into my daily fragrance rotation any way I can. It's so addicting, I cannot stop smelling my wrist when I wear it lolll. I beg everyone to try this at some point, I may just be dramatic, but this is such a special and accessible scent I think everyone should explore in their fragrance journey. Especially if you like spring-type smells.

Indigo is perfectly named - this fragrance somehow literally smells like the color Indigo - it's beautiful. The fig and bergamot shine in the opening, giving you a lovely fresh and green scent. It almost gives a sparkly effect. The bergamot and tea notes help provide an uplifting scent profile, overall. Then, the cardamom comes through after a few minutes offering some sexy spiciness. And lastly, of course, you'll land on a warm, cozy, woody dry-down thanks to the cashmere. This is my go-to perfume when I want to feel fresh, clean, and green. This fragrance is so well done, especially at this price point. It's VERY well blended and FEELS very high quality. My only criticisms are that the longevity is not great, only lasting 3 hours TOPS. The sileage definitely leans intimate, but I don't mind that for this type of scent profile. Lastly, I don't love Nest's bottles, but they aren't terrible either. I cannot wait to purchase a full size bottle of this - I've been DYING for a green fig perfume and Nest NAILED it with Indigo. Rating: 8/10

I ́ve been eyeing this for so long, and finally bit the bullet. It ́s everything as expected and more. Witchy, mysterious, eerie, comforting, all those magical and otherwordly words. But surprisingly fresher than expected at the same time. One of the most photorealistic earl grey black tea scents i have tried, and I adore it, but also it ́s so comforting at the same time. On a cloudy, cool, rainy summer day, this is magic, which just makes me look forward to autumn even more, as I think it will be even better then. Price wise I was unsure what to make of it, since price per ml in this is actually my most expensive perfume right now (even though NEST had a sale, but adding in the taxes and fees for international shipping it all adds up), but I must say it was worth it. Definitely signature worthy, and considering getting a stock up bottle already.

I had high hopes about this one and I finally got my hands on it. Safe to say I am NOT disappointed. I LOVE this. It's warm, soft, clean, comforting, a little green. This smells like crisp bergamot and perfectly steeped black tea with a sugar cube and a tiny spoonful of fig. It's so cozy but still so luxurious, one I would wear to bed or out on a date night. The tea in this is the most realistic tea I've smelled. It's rich and almost bitter in the way that unsweetened black tea is, a little earthy but undeniably pleasant. The cardamom leans more herbal than spicy, but warms everything up beautifully. This perfume is just gorgeous. Reminds me of Clean Reserve's Citron Fig. Which is high praise because that's one of my favorites.

When I smelled something reminiscent of black tea with sugar and citrus on a heavily crowded public transport, I really thought to myself Thats what i want to smell like. Heavily suggared lemon black tea. Or bergamot, for that matter. Some reddit thread recommended this perfume and I cant thank it enough, I got myself a 8ml and I know I will be buying a full bottle. It’s calming, earthy, dark green/blue scent with a bit of warmth from the bergamot (i would not be able to identift the citrus if i did not know what it was). And Bless I dont smell any figs. I am not a fan of the fig note and some reviews mentioned they smell nothing else, but to my nose the note is so silent. I smell tea, sugar, lemon and tranquility.

One of my absolute favorites scents. I currently have a very full bottle and picked up another one because I know I’ll run through it. Smelling it makes me think of walking through a damp grassy path on a cloudy gloomy fall day. I love how earthy yet complex this scent is. I am able to pick up the bergamot but also the sweet earthiness of the tea and fig. The cashmere in it is what makes it so cozy and perfect for fall. I do notice it slightly develops with wear so it’s not completely linear but you don’t have to worry about the scent becoming unrecognizable and causing disgust. I love to pair it with Glossier You and will pair the two with Byredo De Los Santos when I get a bottle.

Nest Indigo was my gateway into the world of unique perfumes, and it still holds a special place in my collection. Just two sprays and I’m wrapped in something comforting, sexy, and moody. It’s dark, jammy, and fruity—ripe fig steeped in Moroccan and black tea, swirled with warm spice and creamy woods. It doesn’t shout; it smolders. Feels like wandering through a spice market at dusk, barefoot, surrounded by shadows and steam. The tea gives it a gentle sharpness, like a secret waiting to be told. It smells like the color indigo—rich, deep, mysterious. Princess Jasmine wouldn’t wear florals—she’d wear this, walking through a midnight forest, trailing fig, tea, and spice behind her.

I have been searching for a year for a signature scent that works for every season, day and night all while being just different enough and not smelling the same as every other designer out there. Nest indigo is damn near perfect - a beautiful, complex tea and fig with bergamot and a little spice that can pull it through every season. She is super unique, sophisticated, alluring, mysterious but still wearable for every day. The first fragrance I have ever found full bottle worthy. I hear a often that Nest is overpriced but I actually think the price is quite fair and on par with other offerings at Sephora. Love it.

This has been my signature scent for years and years but I haven't been reaching for it as much lately. But it's still worth owning and coming back to. One of the best clean, spicy, unisex wintery scents that is just so well-blended and gets me more compliments than anything else in my collection. A good one to own instead of some of the Byredos which are similar and more expensive (though I love them too). Just a great everyday/work scent, maybe not for evening, but honestly I wouldn't say it ISN'T good for anything. Probably the most unique but versatile clean scent I've come across.

sprayed this on a tester randomly in Ulta after watching someone on Tik Tok recommend it saying that it’s a true black tea scent, on the tester it was okay but spraying on my wrist and walking around Ulta i couldn’t stop smelling my wrist. such a nice black tea, juicy fig, herbal (i also got blackberry but it might just be the fig honestly) fragrance - lasting power is average to me it lasted about 2 hours? but this will be a work fragrance for me so, i’m okay with it not lasting 6+ hours. seriously so good! classy, fresh, clean, and very spa like.

Idk if anyone else gets this but this reminds me of a PNW forest. The cardamom, bergamot, and tea blend into this beautiful cool note, like wet foliage and cedar after rain, a shower with expensive body wash and hanging eucalyptus, or maybe just getting a whiff of old spice on someone hot. The fig is much more photorealistic/fresh than overly sweet/jammy, and keeps it from going masculine or smelling like an air freshener. Sillage is intimate but not a skin scent, very office friendly and an easy blind buy for anyone who wants a fruity freshie.

As someone who is very picky about scents, I really like this! It smells like a fresh tea scent that isn't too sweet. Personally on my skin, I don't really get an earl gray scent. To me it's more like a fresh cup of iced tea with a hint of lemon, like an arnold palmer. The opening spray is a bit strong to my nose, and almost tends to lean a bit masculine at first (which I'm not a fan of), but the longer it dries down, the more feminine and subtle it becomes. I think this perfume could work for any season, whether its warm or cold weather.

If I had a signature scent, it would be Nest Indigo. I love so many perfumes and rotate often in my collection to ensure I’m enjoying every one but I always come back to Indigo. It is everything I love in one bottle—earthy black tea, warm cardamom, sweet fig, a little brightness from bergamot, and an echo of soft woods. It is my comfort scent that speaks calmly when the world is too loud. It is the iconic tea fragrance for a reason and there is just nothing quite like it. I will forever own this bottle.

Originally bought a travel size a few years ago and immediately regretted it. I adored this perfume so much that I was using it up constantly on everything I own. All my clothes, bedding, even my backpack was sprayed with it. I would get compliments from people telling me they could smell me across the room! It's definitely a heavier scent and can be a bit strong for some, but must for those who may be looking for a signature scent. It is definitely unique enough to be a staple in someone's collection.

I had Midnight Fleur years and years ago. Really wanted to get it again but got mixed up and accidentally sent the link for this one to my husband for an anniversary gift idea, not knowing Midnight Fleur had been discontinued (tragedy, that one made me feel so grown in my twenties). Anyway, couldn’t have made a better mistake. I think this is a lot more wearable than Midnight Fleur, and in the summertime it gives a lovely iced tea sweetness, with a dry down that’s the exact woody musk I love best.

My absolute favorite scent. I love sweet smells but find most perfumes with fruity notes syrupy, childish, or "bath and body works"esque. Nest Indigo is none of those. The fig combines with bergamot to give this frag a tart, adult sweetness made complex by the strong note of tea and grounded by what I assume to be cashmere (I don't know woody smells well). The result is sweet but sophisticated, sensual and adult - never twee. I get a lot of compliments from men when I wear this one.

Tried and tested at ulta and it's a love at first sniff! The scent still lingers and it's still strong in the paper strip after 20 hours and the drydown is just divine! It's intoxicating and I'm obsessed! I love it! It reminds me of wrapped with love by Hilary duff which is discontinued and I am inlove with that one but I am so happy I discovered nest indigo...this is 100% gonna be added in my growing perfume collection. Absolutely beautiful perfume and a hidden gem!

this is a beautifully simple, fresh, and inviting scent. i get compliments on it all the time, and it's perfect for layering. when first applied, indigo is sharper, brighter, and wakes up your senses, with the bergamot and fig being most prominent. it dries down to a softer, tea-like scent, while still retaining its woody base and bright freshness. it smells clean yet fragrant, like you've just taken a stroll through a meadow after a warm, soapy bath. love !!!

This smells like walking through the woods in Spring while sipping Earl Grey tea..green, tannic and aromatic. I do get a light fig and cardamom note, but the bergamot and black tea are most noticeable on me. It is truly unisex. Woody throughout and masculine-leaning on the dry down, but I’m ok with that. It lasts about 4 hours on my skin. It’s so warm and cozy. Edit: This is layers nicely with Green Tea Nectarine Blossom by Elizabeth Arden.

Indigo by Nest is such a hidden gem. It had its moment once upon a time, but with trending scents and fleeting viral fragrances, it’s easy to get lost in the newness. There’s something very comforting and easy about this scent. The tea note is calming, while the fig and bergamot bring a quiet freshness to it. It’s not overly sweet, but it does have a sweetness. Perfect for daily wear if you want something that’s subtle and intoxicating.

Love this fragrance it feels so signature and personal. One thing I don’t like (which I guess is in the name,) it smells to me a bit like new dark washed denim. That being said, I think this is a beautiful, “dark feminine,” mysterious rainy magical forest kind of fragrance that remained in my rotation until I ran out. I like it for men too but I think the main allure for me comes from that witchy/mystical kind of feminine vibe.

Surely this must have blackberry in it too, it's so berry-like and juicy on the opening I can't believe it's just the fig and bergamot. It's strong but not screechy or overwhelming, a little goes a long way. The green-ness doesn't overtake everything and after two to three hours it really smells gorgeous, you can still detect the juiciness even though the die down is woody. I'm intrigued! A fascinating winter scent.

As a gourmand lover, I didn’t expect to love this as much as I do. To me this is soo comforting and cozy and I often wear this as my around-the-house everyday scent. My boyfriend loves it on me also! Works well as a bedtime scent also, but spray it behind your knees so you’re not overwhelmed by it because it projects nicely and you may not want that projecting all over your face while you’re trying to sleep haha.

This was my first ever proper perfume I bought as an adult and, like a first love, I've been looking for her in every other perfume ever since. Unfortunately I really cannot go and just get this one because NEST promises to give a cut to some charity organization that thinks Autism can be cured, despite having scrubbed the eugenics wording from their website recently. You live and you learn I guess.

Woke up it was a chelsea morning and the first thing that I hearddd!!.... This scent is syrupy figs and a steaming cup of earl grey... perfect slow morning. It also is somehow incredibly reminscent of a nice hotel shower, something about the bergamot I suppose. In all, this is a pleasant and refreshing scent that's good for a sunny spring day by the seaside or a chilly winter night.

This is beautiful. It’s fresh but not sharp, warm but not overly spicy, green but not grassy. I don’t experience it as boring by any stretch of the imagination. It is so interesting and refreshing. I can’t stop wearing this. My only note is the longevity leaves something to be desired and it is more of an intimate fragrance, so one needs to be close to you to smell it.

Absolutely love this perfume. I find that it has the best performance/ projection on rainy days. It starts off green and mossy, but over time, it develops into a sweet, heavy tea scent. The last note is a clean musk. It reminds me of wearing a soft knit sweater, sitting by the window and watching droplets slide down the glass pane-- all while enjoying a cup of tea.

Beautiful when you first spray it, and beautiful when it dries down. The dry down is a bit woody and quite sweet, and although I normally am not a huge fan of sweetness, I still love it. Seems to last longer than some of the other Nest fragrances (6+ hours). I can't smell any tea, but I'm also not very experienced with fragrances so I may just be missing it.

This scent is SO good, I find it incredibly complex. Spicy, faintly sweet, earthy, clean, and it smells expensive... but, it smells exactly how I remember Bath and Body Works White Tea and Ginger. Sadly, it even has similar longevity- there's no trace of the stuff after about five hours despite overspraying. I'm a big fan but the price really chaps my ass

Have been building a fig and tea notes collection and this beauty is currently front and center. The black tea note is very prominent on my skin with a mild, fresh sweetness from the fig and a softness from the cashmere. The green notes are effervescent and add levity. It’s not a deep, complex scent but it will envelop you in layers of comfort.

this smells like peace, periwinkle and sage green. like sitting under a willow tree and listening to the draping green leaves softly rattle in the breeze, a sigh of relief, fig jam on toast and the steam floating from a cup of london fog. indigo is gentle, i would feel so at ease around anyone who smelled like this. song: natural - shelly

I adore this fragrance. It's dark, earthy, mysterious and beautiful on skin. It smells like stepping out into the chilled air on a crisp fall day in the Pacific Northwest. Neither the projection nor longevity are outstanding, but I don't know if I would want this specific scent profile to be beast mode anyway. It's perfect as is.

it starts off nice but ~10 minutes in is where it really hits for me and smells soooo damn good. this word makes it sound underwhelming but it really is so....pleasant. it’s pleasant and relaxing and i love it, the perfect chilled grey day perfume 💙🌫️ annoyed they changed the packaging but happy i managed to grab the now old one

This is such a a relaxing and cozy scent! The type of tea in it is Moroccan tea which has a minty aroma to it, so when I figured that out it made total sense to me because this scent is a spicy scent, but it's a cool spice. Then the fig note is sweet and jammy and it just goes incredibly with the cool, spicy tea.

I adore this perfume so much. Like one reviewer said, it smells like the color purple and I couldn’t agree more! I think this smell is really unique and kind of hard to describe. I picture a cool artsy kind of person wearing this. My only complaint is that it fades so quickly for me! Wish it lasted longer

This is the closest dupe for Bath & Body Works' White Tea and Ginger that I have ever come across, which was my absolute favorite body mist back in the day. While I love the scent, it unfortunately does not last at all, and has no projection to speak of. Completely gone within an hour.

Soooooo moody!!! I love the atmosphere this fragrance creates. makes me feel like I'm looking out of the window of a train, listening to sad music with wired headphones, omw to a corporate job I hate because at my core I'm simply a woman who should own and operate an apothecary shop.

seriously the most addicting scent I've tried. its like a walking spa. I love and adore tea scents I truly feel this is the best one. I feel like a fairy in my secret fairy garden home drink black tea with my caterpillar friends, or that I'm getting a facial in the spa.

Didn't last too long cause it was in one of the rollers but it's def one of my favorite NEST fragrances, next to Black Tulip. It's a cool unisex scent, smooth and fresh enough to seem masc while sweet and fruity enough to seem fem. Such a good balance of notes!

A lovely, light tea scent, with fig to give it a bit of sweetness, and woods to make it warm. I'll wear this year 'round. The longevity on me is moderate, maybe 4 hours, but I have an adorable tiny perfume roller to carry with me and reapply during the day.

Whenever I need a pick me up, I always spray this on. For me, it's happiness in a bottle; fresh bright and euphoric. However, I wouldn't call it an "all occasions" scent, as it has a big personality and may be a bit strong for work or everyday wear.
