South Pacific Sandalwood Perfume Oil

I love this. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more attracted to woody fragrances, as well as unisex-leaning. While I enjoy many different fragrance notes in perfumes, a noticeable woody base makes my heart sing. The more I wear this one, the more I love it. Which is disappointing, since it’s been discontinued. I know the sandalwood is synthetic, but Nest has created a solid translation. The lighter violet floral is a perfect match for the smooth and creamier sandalwood. I understand those who sense an aquatic nature, but I see it as more of a dewy fragrance. Like walking in the woods on a spring morning. Not what I would actually be smelling here in the evergreens of the Pacific Northwest, U.S., but that familiar dampness in the air mixed with the surrounding woods. This is a fabulous base for the similar-smelling No. 4 Bois de Balincourt by Maison Louis Marie.

This is an underrated one that I never hear anyone talk about! It’s a very beautiful and sweet sandalwood that blends nicely into the skin. Has a bit of a marine quality to it that reminds me of a lighter and sweeter version of salted muse (without the olive tree) by orebella. If you’re worried that this smells like Santal 33, it really doesn’t, it’s much much lighter and way sweeter on the dry down. I see this as the most layer-able scent of the whole lineup! I just saw that they reduced the price of the full size oil perfume to $66 and I just placed my order. I hope they bring us a body mist in this scent!

I am suprised by the low rating. I got this in the discovery set and this was one of my favorites. It smells so cozy and can be layered under so many different perfumes. It projects very well for an oil and everyone comments on it when I wear it. I think a lot of times sandalwood can be a little unpleasent but I never get tired of this one. I really adore this scent and hope it doesn’t get discontinued.

I got this in a sampler set and was surprised this was easily my favorite as I don't typically gravitate toward sandalwood. I love that this is more of a subtle scent, I catch whiffs of it throughout the day (longevity is great) and it's opened my eyes to a note Im now obsessed with. I'll likely be buying the full size when this runs out because it just smells soooo good

Personally adore this scent after just finding it! I’ve been looking everywhere for a sandalwood perfume that isn’t like being hit in the face with incense and that has something sweet to balance it out. This is it. For me, this is the holy grail of perfumes. It makes me think of visiting my family in Oklahoma while sitting around a fire in someone’s garden.

Love this creamy sandalwood- Santal 33 is not the first sandalwood forward fragrance i would compare this to. Especially if you are worried about getting the pickle note-this is not a dry wood. Longevity is only so-so but i can forgive that for the warm feeling i get when wearing this. Love layering this with Myth by Ellis Brooklyn.

Uncomplicated freshly stripped sandalwood misted with violet petals. Absolutely divine, relaxing, more calming than lavender. Warms up to a skin scent over the day. Like how air smells after coming out of a sauna, cold almost.

Woody, powdery, violet, aromatic, earthy, warm spicy, luminous, feminine leaning, sensual, soothing, inviting, cozy, comforting This is a pretty straightforward scent of creamy sandalwood, powdery violet, and woody and earthy vetiver. I also get this cool, dewy/aquatic feel to it too. There’s a really natural vibe to it. It’s very pretty. I’m a big fan of gourmands as well as beachy/coconut fragrances. This definitely is something pretty different from them, but it’s also one that I really enjoy. I don’t usually layer fragrances besides a similar lotion (usually B&BW) to whatever perfume I’m wearing. However, I really enjoy this for layering as well as by itself. It adds such a nice woody depth to whatever you pair it with. It’s probably one of their most easily layered scents (along with Madagascar Vanilla), as well as one of their most easily most easily layered scents in my whole collection. I really enjoy it with both my gourmands and beachy/coconut fragrances because it just seems to go so well with them. I really enjoy Nest fragrances, and own several of them. I have Sunkissed Hibiscus (my favorite!), Vanilla Bourbon, and Golden Nectar in the perfumes. I also have minis of most of the perfume oils, and larger ones of my favorites which are Madagascar Vanilla, Balinese Coconut, and South Pacific Sandalwood. The perfume oils are really nice alone as well as fantastic for layering with. I really enjoy South Pacific Sandalwood with Madagascar Vanilla and Balinese Coconut, both alone and together. To me this does feel rather unisex, but more feminine leaning. I think it’s suitable for people of any age. I think it actually works well throughout the whole year. This feels suitable for any occasion (especially if layered) from casual to fancy, and including work/school. I get great performance with South Pacific Sandalwood. The longevity is excellent, and is between strong and eternal on me. The projection is more on the moderate side, but that’s perfect for what this scent is. Fresh, woody, aromatic, softly sweet, aquatic, floral, earthy, powdery, calm, soothing, comforting This is such a pretty take on a sandalwood scent. The softly sweet sandalwood takes center stage. It’s enhanced with a touch of soft violet and some earthy vetiver. There’s also something that’s giving me a fresh, slightly salty, aquatic/marine scent. It brings a kind of refreshing ocean breeze scent to the overall fragrance which I really like. This feel best suited for the spring and summer (especially if worn alone) mostly because of its refreshing aquatic scent. I think that’s what gives it such a cool, fresh, and soothing vibe. I’m curious as to what gives it that scent. The sandalwood gives it some warmth, but this really does feel more cool overall. This could probably technically be considered unisex, although I do think it leans a bit more feminine (maybe it’s just because it’s on me). It has a pretty sweetness to it, but it’s very soft and natural, not anything sugary like at all. I think this works very nicely for casual occasions, and can be nice for work or school too. I’m not usually very big on layering fragrances (besides scented body lotion with a similar perfume), but I think that these Nest perfume oils are perfect for layering together. So I actually enjoy it in this case. I own minis of all of them, as well as the travel sizes of my favorites, Balinese Coconut, Madagascar Vanilla, and South Pacific Sandalwood. I particularly enjoy South Pacific Sandalwood layered individually with the other 2 I mentioned, as well as the 3 of them together. They’re fairly simple and straightforward scents, nothing too complex, so I think that’s what makes them so great for layering. I get great performance with South Pacific Sandalwood. The longevity is very good, it lasts all day on me. The projection is decent, about an arm’s length. For some reference, I do really enjoy Nest fragrances. Besides the perfume oils I also have their perfume in Sunkissed Hibiscus (one of my very top favorites!), Golden Nectar, and Vanilla Bourbon. I did get to try samples of Indigo and Wild Poppy, but they aren’t exactly my style. The first time I tested this oil I immediately felt like I was transported to a lush pine forest. I grew up hiking and camping a lot and this felt exactly like what I’d smelled in the Eastern Sierras all that time. With that being said, I think this makes a beautiful base layer, but I like to soften the edges with something a little sweet. On my skin I don’t smell the violet note that other users mention, but I’m also very sensitive to fir/ pine adjacent smells. Sandalwood comes through heavily as the scent dries down. The silage is intimate but the longevity for me is almost eternal. I still smell it on my wrists after a shower, and if I apply to my neck/ chest I’ll get whiffs of it all day long.

A Sephora employee encouraged me to try this and I left with a FB. While I like the smell of Sandalwood, it typically doesn't work on my skin but this one is lovely. This wears as a fresh, woody, aquatic experience and the longevity was eternal. I can still smell it on a scarf from a week ago. I also love the versatility. It's great to wear on it's own, layer or mix with body lotion. I'll definitely be buying some of the others (the orange and vanilla), as I think they'll layer great too.

This is a nice sandalwood fragrance. It is woody and then aromatic. The violet really comes through in this one. It smells of a violet covered forest. This one is my favorite of the line. It does run a little unisex. I think this one could be mixed w/ the Madagascar vanilla of this line and that would create a really pretty combination.

fell in love with this at first sniff. in the bottle/on skin for the first half hour or so it smells like cucumber to me, which must be the violet? definitely dries down woodier but still beautiful and fresh. wish it lasted a little longer since it is an oil but still lasts a good long while

Straight sandalwood, i struggle to wear this on its own but it’s a very nice pure sandalwood scent with the slightest hint of vétiver; perfect for layering to add maturity to a fragrance

I don’t normally like super woody scents. But I’m sitting in my office smelling of the interior of a finely made cabinet and loving every moment. Surprising and heartfelt thumbs up.

This is so nice. I am going to say that this smells very aquatic to me. It doesn't even have aquatic notes, and it smells like the beach or like driftwood.

At first sniff, I was unsure about this. I enjoy woody notes in small doses but this is very sandalwood forward. The vetiver and violet soften the wood and create a green, floral aroma which I am quite fond of. It's seductive without trying to be yet casual enough for everyday wear. I can picture this on a woman in her mid 20's strolling through a city on an overcast day. She has espresso and a tattered book in hand, several necklaces dangling from her neck and worn leather boots she wears year-round. She solely drinks martinis and vodka sodas and loves to stroll through museums and galleries. Fresh, earthy and floral. Nest really created something special here! 7.5/10

When I first smelled this in store I loved it, it was a soft subdued cloud of sandalwood, warm and warming in perfume oil form. The sandalwood in this is bolstered by a little skunky vetiver. Alone, the vetiver skunk feels a little screechy and sharp, but as a foundational layer for other sandalwood perfumes it adds a nice extra oomph. I'm new to perfume oils, and I want to see how their intimate sillage performs in warm weather. I'll update this review in the summer.

This is HEAVY! It smells like straight up sandalwood and, although I like it in theory, I'm not sure if it's something I'd like to smell like? Great for people that like wood accords, though. I'm just more of a gourmand girl. The dry down is a bit more bearable, but still not for me. Will definitely be layering it with something softer.

Straight up sandalwood. I prefer my woody scents paired with something citrusy or aromatic, so this isn’t for me, but it is still very nice and well blended.

Truthfully, this smells EXACTLY like She Was An Anomaly on me, just without the vanilla note.

I’m surprised by the reviewers who say this is straight up sandalwood, because the violet note is forward in both the opening and dry down; a kind of equal mix of sandalwood and violet. And I would be surprised if this is not a synthetic sandalwood, and instead it’s from nature (like the name wants us to think), and specifically the South Pacific (which I do not believe either). There are far better natural and synthetic sandalwood scents out there. Save your money and swipe left.

I don't like it, but I recognize that it's all on me! I usually don't do woody top notes and I'm not a fan of powdery flowers like violet and iris. On me, this feels more "masc." so if you're interested in a more "unisex" scent this could be a winner! Update: have this to my best friend who enjoys unisex events and she loves it! She layers it with Indian Jasmine sometimes

Woody, i was expecting it to be more creamy but i am not a fan of the vetiver. I also get a bit of saltiness in this fragrance which i do not like.

this wasn't quite dill to me but this also wasn't strongly woody. this felt very stripped down, sanded, pale, and a little sour.

Very sharp and medicinal. Reminds me of an antiseptic solution you would find in a hospital. Bitter & off-putting.

Maybe something's wrong with my nose, but to me this smells like straight up dill. Dislike.

This is a pretty fragrance but it smells more like it belongs in a diffuser or a candle. There’s something about it that makes it not smell like it belongs on the skin, which is strange, because I would expect it to be more of a skin scent. Edit: the longer I wear this the less I like it. It has a screechy almost aquatic note that reminds me of a car freshener. Won’t be repurchasing

I mainly get the violet note here. The sandalwood is detectable, but it is not creamy and milky, which is how I prefer sandalwood. It is more like the dry sandalwood you get in Le Labo's Santal 33.

Nice, soft scent. I use this as a base for layering perfumes that need to be smoothed out a bit.
