La Forêt

My initial response is “inky.” An earthy, soft opening. The bergamot adds more balance than brightness as it mingles with the creamy sandalwood. Like the difference between lemonade and lemon buttercream. I agree with the review below that says it evolves into a more masculine dry-down.

To my surprise--because this much Iso E and Amber Xtreme are usually firm turnoffs for me--this really works on my skin as a creamy forest scent. I get loads of moss and citrussy pine, with the patchouli integrating into that set of green-woodsy notes rather than screaming on its own. Those appealing forest notes are all integrated over a creamy base that suggests vanilla without actually being vanilla--a welcome relief from the tiresome overabundance of vanilla fragrances these days when I still want something snug. And yes, it lasts forever. For what it's worth, I'm a woman who tends to prefer "unisex" or even "for men" fragrances because I'm not crazy about stereotypical florals or syrupy gourmands.

First off, this is a BEAST. Spray with care. I had a hard time sitting in the same car as myself after 2 sprays. It is now 7 hours later and it has finally settled down to "normal" strength. That said, I am a sucker for woody scents, and this one is no exception. It is quite masculine more than unisex, but I'm ok with smelling like a man even if I'm not one, as long as I smell good :) This is a fairly typical, quality wood, with the exception that I am smelling a creamy coconut note that is not listed, but is definitely present. That doesn't really sound like a pleasant combo, but I am actually liking it. It makes it unique and interesting. This is the first Nette I have tested, and I am intrigued.

A bright citrusy bergamot opening which leans a bit feminine. Then, it becomes a lovely creamy, woody, mossy unisex scent. This is the stage I like best. It becomes more masculine as it dries down and then nicely blends to skin. The first time I tried it, it was rather potent, but this time it is a much more intimate scent.

To preface, I typically hate masculine leaning fragrances because they give me a headache. Sprayed on paper or cloth, it came off like a typical screechy cologne. However, when sprayed on skin, a soft, comforting note appears. I wouldn’t buy a bottle of this but I would be happy to smell it on a partner.

La Forêt is the stereotypically masculine one out of the Nette bunch. Patchouli, moss, and citrus with a very cedar-y woody dry down. Not for me, but I'm wearing it on my arm and I can say the lasting power is great so far, which always seems to be the case when the scent profile is as robust as this one. It's not overwhelming or anything, just woody and earthy with that relentlessly sharp moss note.

This reeks of old spice, old men.. just old. It's pungency is unbearable on a single spritz. I'm afraid my wrist is going to hit on me, then pick a fight with the most masculine guy at the bar. Cheap, tacky awfulness. Immediate scrubber.

I don’t know what planet a woman could wear this without smelling like a dirty hippy. It has a pungent forest smell, wet dirt, and strong in your face broken tree branches among dried leaves. 100% masculine but wouldn’t want to smell it on a man either. Absolute no from me.

All the patchouli citrus mixtures I have smelt in the past have struck me as "dirty," but I thought I would give this a go, having loved Thé Vanille and Coco Fleur from this house. Unfortunately, the mix still turns dirty on me. It is probably my own stupidity for having blind bought a bergamot patchouli fragrance knowing my own preferences. Even though Iso E can be soft, here it is a bit screechy and worsens the dirtiness that I already don't love. Again though, these are my own preferences. I can see someone who likes the listed notes really enjoying this, and it is pretty unique in that I don't think I have smelled another fragrance quite like La forêt.

To preface this review, I have never sprayed this on skin- only a paper strip. When sprayed, this is a strong woody fragrance. The iso e super is very present and makes this have monster projection. I sprayed my sample three times on a piece of paper and could smell this from downstairs hours after spraying. To me it's quite masculine (on paper) and I get the iso e super and cedarwood predominately. A bit mossy as well. I would like this on a man (I'm female) but maybe only 2 sprays since it performs so well.

I thought that I liked this more the first time around, but for some reason today, I really do get all of that masculine woods that registers as men’s cologne. It reminds me most of Sueded Oud by Clean Reserve or Winter Oak by Raw Spirit but I think those actually capture the winter forest more atmosphericly while this reminds you that it’s perfume. I do kind of like it, but would prefer to smell it on my boyfriend.

Smells like lakeside camping during the summer. Trees, fresh air, creamy sunscreen. Perfectly unisex in my opinion.
