Bonbons A La Violette

This, to me, is beautiful. The name is slightly misleading as it feels more wood/moss than bonbon but it’s a sweet and woody violet delight. I understand what people are saying about the BR540 feeling - I think it gives a feeling of BR540 because of the oakmoss, without smelling directly like it - this doesn’t make logical sense as a sentence but bear with me. For me, it’s a sweeter, more modern Insolence. Performance is good - I am conscious of it wafting for hours. Not too loud, which in this case is a benefit, as I think it could feel cloying at a higher volume. Overall, I love it - but I am a wood and violet lover for life. It’s an investment so probably wouldn’t recommend a blind buy, unless you’re feeling flush and ready to gamble!

I recently received my bottle and first off the packaging is beautiful. I love the lilac purple tone of the bottle. I sprayed it on my hand right away and it was a sweet beautiful floral I was hit with. I did get some woody morning the dry down. The sugary sweet floral stayed throughout the entire 4 hours I wore it on my hand even smelled it after I took a shower which didn’t surprise me since it’s an extrait. It reminds me of a floral sweet tea without the tea note but still delightful. I love it.

This first hit my nose as a refined Violette Française baby cologne; not as sweet as I imagined it would be, which works for me. Starts developing quickly, with a sparkling start, more body and an almost smoky feel as it evolves. Soft woody dry down with whiffs of first few notes, especially the beautiful violet. Loved it at first, second, third etc sniff. One of my absolute favorites this year. Add: My top/favorite 2024 launch 💜

I absolutely love Bonbons a La Violette! I get a sugary candied violette. And the dry down is beautiful as well. I can smell this on myself and it lasts for hours. Instant love for me and smells just as I imagined it would!

In Persian times, the violet was reputed to have the power to heal broken hearts. A seemingly fragile flower, but one of great beauty and strength, in this fragrance it is celebrated in its sweetest aspect, with slightly gourmand traits. Yes, combined with sweet and sugary notes, this flower wants to reproduce a tasty violet candy, and I must say it succeeds very well. I am a lover of this note, which is here elevated to its full beauty. Beautiful, innocent and sensual at the same time.

I’ve had this for a few months and I have to say that it gets better with time. I get more of the violets now and it lasts longer. I still get some BR 540 in the background but with sugared violets. I think the inky moss is giving that saffron vibe from BR 540.

I am so surprised to say that after a blast of sweet powdery violet I was left with something very similar to BR540. Sugary, mossy, with a touch of warm florals. Very nice, but you definitely need to enjoy that smell of Rocket candies.

This is a powerhouse. One spray and it lasted 4-6 hours on my skin. Very floral but with a good woody base that makes it really unisex. The gourmand aspect is in the dry down. A unique unisex sexy violet with quite a sillage!

Unique take on violets - there is the classic violet scent however I also smell something a bit masculine, like a classic blue scent combined with violets and some sweetness. Pretty unisex violets.

I've tested this perfume throughout for a few times on a blotter and on my skin, and I sincerely don't understand where everyone is seeing Baccarat... Sure, some sparkle is there, but I don't see that much of the similarity at all. It's a softly sugared, mossy-Iso E Super violette (this side strengthens towards the end). It doesn't remind me of candies also. Bonbons a La Violette seems like simply a contemporary Insolence - lighter, airier, less pungent. I like violets and irises for the reason they smell slightly antique and cerebral, so this new approach and this stylish new redo of violets is not what I am after. However, it seems violets are making a huge comeback and soon they will be all over the place as tuberoses already are.

I wanted this to give me violet but the violet fades within an hour and left with BR540..not what I was looking for someone buy this from me!!

Much more powder than violet and sweet, amber is very prominent here, head contains also fine black leather that flashes for few minutes but 1-2hours in and little interesting remains. Its nowhere near sweet violet candy - misleading name, but composition is original. Other notes that I got were freshly opened paper sheets and toner (copypoint corner), cardboard boxes.

Bonbons A La Violette by New Notes is a campy fragrance. It’s a thick, heavy blend of amber and vanilla with just a hint of violet peeking through. If you have trouble with amberwood or any of its cousins, this will not smell violet to you. You will smell BR with a floral touch. And sugar.....Too bad, I love violet and for what they charge I thought I'd get a little less synthetic mess than usual. Nope. I'd say to try first b4 buying. jmho

Screechy, nauseating, sweetened violet Baccarat Rouge.

If you want a nice, dainty, sweet realistic violet perfume, do not, I repeat DO NOT go for this. To my nose it has nothing to do with violets, and the cedar is so strong in the drydown, I smell like a dumpster on a hot day wearing this. Had to wash down.

I DO NOT want to sell it on eBay ... the details are simply to verify my legitimacy as a long time buyer & seller. *I am looking for something that doesn’t have ambroxan in it, does lean too masculine (have a few of those for swap as well incl. a Guerlain 🐝 bottle 4.2 fluid ounces of Espices Exquises- definitely far too masculine for my tastes. I have all manner of very desirable authentic scents in new bottles w/ boxes that are either too masculine OR has ambrox that is NOT in note breakdown OR ingredients (even AG’s ☁️ doesn’t claim it! 🙄) HMU if you can perceive ambroxan &/ or you enjoy scents that are marketed as unisex that imo? Shouldn’t 🙂

I was gifted this, and gave it a full wear today. You are going to want to make sure you like this before wearing, because the longevity is hours long (at least on me). I sprayed it on in the morning, and it is now 7:30 PM and still just as noticeable as when I first put it on. I actually love it, so no harm done. It reminds me of Mancera’s Choco Violette, minus the “Choco”. You need to love violets, because that is the prominent note. I do get a little citrus in the opening, but after that it is violets, baby. It is slightly sweet, and the base notes of moss, cedarwood, Amber, and vanilla, accompany the violet and make it more interesting and non-linear, but they aren’t the stars of this show. I see some are comparing it to BR540, and to that, I say, not at all! Longevity-10/10 Sillage-9/10 Scent-8/10. If you love violets

I ordered a decant of this from a very reputable decanter I've been using for years. Sprayed it on my wrist and was instantly greeted by a blast of Baccarat 540. I thought there must have been a mix-up and I grabbed the wrong sample out of my box, or they sent me the wrong juice. Double checked... nope. The juice was purple, so it was right! I've had this on my skin for an hour and it still smells just like BR540 to me. I like this a lot but then again, I love (and already have) BR540. I get zero violet from this. If you want a sweet, gourmand-type violet, check out Choco Violette from Mancera. Bonbons a la Violette smells good, but it's definitely one more in sea of fragrances with the BR540 DNA.

I have another New Notes fragrance that i love , so was hoping for something special, to my nose it isn't. This is a sugared wood composition and i am assuming its the Oak moss that is giving me the uncomfortable celery edge ?As far as the violet is concerned it is not a major player here which is a shame but even if it was , that stalky vegetable is still there but beginning to chill out at the hour mark .

This opened really harshly on my skin. It was like violet but dirty, I was so sure it was patchouli. After about 20 minutes, it mellowed out into a smooth, earthy, woody fragrance with a soft background of sugared violet. I REALLY like this. I had to keep sniffing my wrist. It's not a sweet overload like the name suggests, it's a woody, earthy fragrance elevated by some sweetness.

I was expecting a completely different scent to be honest lol. This is a slightly sweeter Baccarat with a titch of moss in the dry down. The violet note on me is barely recognize able - I get (some) of its slightly powdery vanilla but otherwise its sweet lightly floral Baccarat. I wish I got more violet and some of the other base notes but they don't come through on my skin.

This scent is interesting, it has an intense sugared violet note, but it doesn't feel too girly. The woody and ambery notes are very smooth, the mossy drydown provide some character. It seems it has nice ingredients, it projects very well. I also perceive a leather or suede note. It is a very good scent, it reminds me a little of Love in Black.

This is a beautiful leather and violet gourmand (vanilla and amber). Very upscale and sophisticated - like a designer boutique in a resort hotel. It’s just too good! Very satisfying array of notes - checking all the boxes for a go-to or signature scent for someone who loves this scent profile. Unisex with great projection and longevity.

It's like a lived in, more masculin version of baccarat rouge. I did not expect that at all, the name is misleading, the colour is misleading. It's not a bad perfume, it's just not what i expected and would be redundent in my collection. If you want a candy bonbon kind of scent, try Celeste by Giardini di Toscana.

A soft plush sporty suede belted coat and sugar violets. I don’t know where people are getting BR from. Maybe it’s the moss? It is slightly mossy, not your typical violet perfume. I liked it. Completely unisex, I was not expecting so much suede instead of violet candies, but thats how it projects on me.

I expected something entirely different. On my skin the violet smells dry and quite sour. This note fades within the first hour and leaves me with a drydown that smells similar to Spirito Fiorentino. I don't think I'll keep this. The bottle is cute though.

Screechier, woodier br540 without the warmth or depth. I liked it at first but the more I smelled it, the cheaper it smells. I think the amber used in this smells sharp, making the violet smell like cheap candy. I like violet but not in this formulation.

This does resemble baccarat to me. But I don’t like br540 much and this I do like. It smells like a sweeter baccarat with added violet. I love this. Def not a safe blind buy and nothing with violet is a safe blind buy imo.

Dónde está la violeta? Total decepción, le he dado dos oportunidades pero me huele igual que Bacarat Rouge. No huelo la violeta por ningún lado. Si quieres un clon de b r más barato y con gran duración esto es para tí.

For lovers of gourmand and violet notes this is a big disappointment. I hope in the future we will have less misleading names, especially for the blind buyers (I know we are many!!!)

When I tested this in a department store the first impression I had was it smells like an expensive suede jacket. Not even sure where the violet happens but it lasts a long time.

It’s okay, different from other violet perfumes but it’s a lot more woody than I’d like it to be and smells like a designer scent profile.

To my nose this is similar to Bond No.9 Bleeker street

A bit sweeter but very similar to Fugazzi PURPLE
