Marron Chic

I am so glad I own a few from this house....does anyone know what happened to them? This is lipsticky violet it is so pretty. As the reviewer below said this is iris in opening and violet in dry down. Longevity is excellent 6 to 24 hours on this sillage is also excellent. This is an excellently crafter fragrance house but I wish I knew where they went or have they changed their name? Well good luck to me on my search

I have a decant from this stunning perfume and i love it!! It is a crispy powdery fragrance, not too sweet, not too dry. And thanks heaven not a soapy! This perfume reminds me of a much more softer and more powdery Shalimar 2009. Indeed very Chique. I get a lot of Iris notes, a litlle chocolate and something that reminds me of the little oranges they made in liquors in Italy. mmmmm Chic!

I need to revise my original review! Which was written in the summer months; where I compared this fragrance to a tired old make-up case! Well, it's autumn now and cold outside (time for my leather coats and fingerless mittens!) so I thought before I get rid of this let's try it again! I have to say the seasons have so changed this scent! It opens with a big blast of chestnuts and chocolate; in which I can really smell the chestnuts! Then it turns into a bitter, dark, almost pure chocolate (a rival at this point for Il Profvmo's Chocolat) - after a couple of hours it mellows down to an almost honeyed, woody chestnut-chocolate scent (benzoin)! Maybe my nose has changed or it is just the seasons? I don't get any of the florals at all in this! I would still recommend testing before buying as it is a wickedly expensive mistake to make! I'll use mine up this autumn - but I wouldn't buy a replacement tbh - I'm just glad I didn't have to go to all the hassle of selling this! This is definitely one for a cold, northern autumn/winter or a Christmas-season scent!

One thing that has to be said about this one is that Marron Chic goes through quite a transformation within the few hours it's there. It starts off as a delicious gourmand- very chocolatey, sweet, thick, desserty, hmhmmhmh, really makes your appetite grow. And it is good quality chocolate as well, you can tell. Made me think of the lovely stores with Belgian pralines with so much choice it makes your head spin. Then it becomes less and less like dessert, and the jasmin and violet note and iris are definitely what keep this scent going in the middle phase. Finally, it settles as a floral-vetyver. This stage is very far from impressive. Not because it is calm, but because after the symphony of the first notes that makes the taste buds in your mind explode (figuratively speeking, of course) you would expect something more than a faint iris/jasmine presence. Nice, but not enough. Starts off very promising, the ending does not fulfill those expectations.

Marron (chestnut?) and that is what I seem to get at the start - chestnuts, chocolate (as someone said Tootsie Rolls), make-up case! It does start well and I thought if someone loved chestnuts they would like this - BUT - it changes and not in a fantastic way and reminds me of my old samsonite vanity case which I chucked cos of the stale make-up smell (after 20 odd years!) I then pick up a woody vetiver scent! I am sure this would smell good on the right person I just cannot think what kind of person that would be! It's not unpleasant just a bit strange! Definitely not a spring or summer scent! Could be very xmassy in an eclectic way! There are better perfumes out there especially at that price!
