Sun

Going through my Nicheend sample set. Sun is just like you'd expect. Red, warm and fiery... and vanillic?? Yep, Sun is a little bit of Ani, a little bit of Grand Soir and a little bit of Lune Féline. It certainly makes for a very pleasant package, yes. I myself don't get the smokiness everyone seems to be getting (thankfully, because if I did, I would veer a lot closer towards an Ani clone). I think the floral aspect here stands it out from its peers. It makes for a very airy, less dense result that you get from Ani or Grand Soir. The vanilla here is very similar to Lune Féline if you took out the spice. It lasts long, a good 6+ hours but doesn't seem to project as much after a couple hours (maybe I'm somehow anosmic to this one??). You'll probably get compliments for this one, especially dressed up. I'd say this would be nighttime suitable but the floral and airy aspects would work in the day as well. Just not in warm weather though, it's definitely an amber vanilla first and foremost. Good, not outstanding and price is alright if you considering the price of Ani and Grand Soir.

Unisex fragrance. Opens with soft, sweet florals mixed with one of the best smoky accords I've ever smelled. The smokiness is expertly mixed. Not in your face, just right. That smokiness, which is not represented in the ingredient pyramid, fades after about 15 minutes. I wish it lasted, since it's so well done. Dries down to an ambery vanilla which really has some serious lasting power, but not major sillage. Ten hours after I applied The Sun and I'm still getting regular whiffs of that warm, amber-vanilla. Impressive. I think that like most of the Nicheend fragrances (I got the entire sample set) it's probably a little overpriced. $3 (USD) per mil seems kind of steep, but I'd kiss someone right on their face for gifting me a bottle! I might just break down and buy this in the future, but first I'd have to get Gravity, by this same house. In summary, not a groundbreaking scent, but extremely pleasant. Little overpriced. Average sillage and projection, but really impressive longevity! P.S. Where the heck is that smokiness coming from? It's outstanding!

I love this scent. It's deep, rich, slight playdough scent (in the best way possible), slight musty powder (again best way possible). To me, this smells very similar to Byredo's 1996. Librarian vibes. It is really opposite of what I would have named as Sun but love it, regardless.

Almost a dupe for the "By the fireplace" only for triple the price. Warm, comforting smokiness. Interestingly for me I see wearing this after sunset, in the dusk despite the name being "Sun":D.

Completely surprised by the listed notes; I get tar, resin, leather,....maybe birch and a lot of sweet cigar smoke. Smells like a gentleman’s smoking club. This scent might work on the right person but a pass from me.

This is a dominant amber floral fragrance with vanilla highlights. It smells absolutely NOTHING like "by the fireplace" that is chestnuts, campfire smoke, spices and marshmallows. SUN is total opposite AND veers in a very different direction. Much closer to grand soir but less resinous and more floral. It's actually quite beautiful
