Caravansérail Intense

"Caravensérail" is one of my top 3 Nicolaï fragrances. 🖤 Dominant Notes: Coffee, Vanilla, Cardamom, Immortelle, Plum Secondary Notes: Cinnamon, Clove, Sandalwood Subtle Notes: Patchouli, Tonka, Amber, Raspberry This is a beautiful, cocoa-tinged, and bitter coffee fragrance, rather evolving with an Immortelle that reminds me of the smell of sand. From the Arabic "khan" and the Persian "karvansara", this name refers to a stopping place for merchants and their trade caravans that crisscrossed the Silk Roads and the deserts of the Middle East, Central Asia, and North Africa. The fragrance therefore evokes a sunset when the sky turns lavender, brass and copper, and the journey continues at night, under the stars. Coffee beans and Cardamom brewed in a chest, resins and tobacco, licorice sticks, candied and vinous plums, other sweet dried fruits, and spices smothered in burlap sacks carried by donkeys and camels. A blend of cultures and languages. The combination of coffee and immortelle disorients me, dry and herbaceous, somewhere between honey and chamomile, then fading into a sweet and woody Vanilla. As for the spices, they are implicit and not very dominant. It's a travel diary, an adventure, or a biblical tale. 🖤 9/10 🖤

I think many people were too fast with their opinion. My story was that I bought a bottle in Paris, arrived home and thought "where was my brain/nose when I bought it". Then a few days later, just passing by the pullover that had it on it, I was fascinated thinking "what smells here soooo good". And searched and searched, to realize that this was the drydown of Caravanserail... And then on another trip to Paris, I bought another bottle (!) to make sure I have the stock for travelling and the home bottle too! It is a complex fragrance that is the best understood and appreciated from distance, literally, others will be impressed, not you. The notes that it leaves on the path are among the fewest that I wish to resmell again and again.

Another gem from Patricia de Nicolaï. For me, Caravansérail Intense is “intense” primarily at the beginning, with an almost harsh blast of spices and coffee beans; then, within a few minutes, a warmth appears, creating a desert breeze of pleasure, a mix of stimulation and repose, further smoothed out with the appearance of patchouli as the dry-down develops. This is only my second Nicolaï fragrance (after New York Intense), but I really love the style of this house. (And I love that they offer 30 ml. bottles, making such luxury affordable.)

I simply love Nicolai, probably everything from her ... now It ́s my most unique brand ... i consider these scents sometimes more unique than some of Chanel ́s Les Exclusifs. Very noble, refined, coffee, plum, spices .... along with Ambre Intese my most fave from Parfums de Nicolai ... still not known to the masses a lot (thanks God for it)

This is a borderline masterpiece for me! Reminds me slightly of starlight by Xerjoff but better. Mostly a coffee blended cardamom fragrance with a nice patchouli drydown. So well blended. Very unisex leaning male. 9.5/10! Well done 👍
