L'Eau Chic

Gosh, it is good! (It says " l'eau CHIC " on my bottle, I assume the picture here is wrong) I am only recently getting aquanted with Nicolai perfumes and everything makes an impression. I've sampled three compositions from this house and ordered 2 of them already( L'eau Chic - 100ml, New York intense - 30ml and Cedrat - sample) Chic - combines all of my favorite notes for this genre of perfume in ideal proportions.Who could have imagined mint, geranium, chamomile, red pepper and lavender working so nicely together? I do have perfumes in my collection, dedicated to all of those notes and am very happy to recognise them all, but this synergy amazes me. It creates an impression of a luxurious bathrom environment and applying products to freshly washed skin, while the fog from the shower is still in the air and is steaming the corners of the mirror,- and that atmosfere can be felt through the whole day, wearing Chic. I love it. Soft, fresh, delicate, no screeching notes, nothing unpleasant - just perfect. Patricia intended Chic for summer heat and I have yet to experience it. For now I gladly use it in late fall and winter, dry and cold air, rain and sunshine,- it works so well all the time!

L’eau Chic is fresh, very fresh, but the freshness has different face than in popular fragrances. It is far away from aquatic or “sport” kind of scents you can smell in department stores or even supermarkets. L’eau Chic is full of chic, distinctive and noble. It is genderless and ageless and for any season... of course if you wish to be surrounded by cleanest and gentlest aura you can imagine. Patricia de Nicolai describes it as a smell of her parent’s bathroom because of the geranium soap they were using. I can imagine this. My grandma house was similarly full of this kind of freshness, the closets, bed-clothes, towels, laundry dried in the garden. Beautiful memory of the past. You can easily recognize geranium with mint, both play crucial role. The heart is herbaceous and woody because of chamomile and sandalwood with touch of lavender. There is also tiny drop of cloves but difficult to recognize from other spices... you are sure they are there but each of them is so well balanced that it is impossible to discus them separately. Again Patricia de Nicolai created masterpiece showing us her amazing talent.

L'Eau Chic is a straight-forward mint, geranium and lavender summer spritzer. But please don't be fooled into thinking it's simple or linear, because Patricia d'Nicolai knows what she's doing and has created a scent that is layered and blended beautifully. Wearing L'Eau Chic in hot weather is like having a tall, icy drink. I sometimes find lavender and mint fragrances to skew slightly sporty but L'Eau Chic has softness and depth from soapy floral geranium with a little spice and musk to round it out. I love this scent for summer. Light/moderate projection and good staying power for a warm weather scent. Note: As others have mentioned, the bottle pictured is the same design but is not L'Eau Chic.

L'eau Chic indeed. Smooth as glass, androgenous as hell, wears like a dream -- herbal, minty, floral, over a sanded plank of sandalwood. No musk or powder at all the herbs and flowers are left to shine on their own. I picture either a white dress or a black pantsuit with this fragrance. Simply lovely and understated yet so sophisticated.

A little soapy lavender (but not overly sterile or white floral like a lot of other soapy scents), ice cold sweet mint, and some warmth from sandalwood and musk. Very gentle and casual. I'm surprised by how much I like it! It really is very effortless!

I'm surprised there is nothing citrusy listed. To me this is green lemon leafs, with a little mint, lavender, and pelargonium. It's fresh, aromatic and green, but not soapy. I love it, but it disappears way too quickly to warrant the price.

A very nice and fresh scent with mint, lavender and geranium. Very nice blend. Long lasting but not a beast in projection, which makes it very versatile and perfect for professional environments.

Such an interesting (yet simple) perfume. I sprayed and immediately thought of a man’s cologne. However, after the drydown... it transforms. This is so fresh and breezy. A little spicy...but a very herbal, clean spice. Nothing heavy in this scent. It is softly soapy at times (maybe due to the lavender and chamomile). The mint lends some sweetness. The bottom combo of slightly musky powdered sandalwood rounds out the journey and brings some warmth. It does lean a little masculine imo, but an easy wear for anyone for a casual summer day.

Could not wait to try this new fragrance. I LOVE L"eau Mixte, but this one does not work for me. On me, this is very definitely a masculine fragrance, too much so for me. The scent is very woody, but I get not much else certainly no clove, spices or lavender...oh well, at least it was only a 30 ml bottle!

Wild to me that L'eau d'Issey isn't listed here. It immediately calls to mind the original perfum - maybe the formula changed? The bright, overly fresh and sharp scent. I used to wear it back in the day. not a scent I need to revisit though.

This smells like mint chewing gum...I get a lot of mint, lavender and geranium. I don't like it and I dont find it "chic" at all.

Soap and toothpaste, a disturbing somewhat sharp combination. I expected so much more from this brand.

Like alfarom, I thought immediately of Frédéric Malle GERANIUM POUR MONSIEUR upon donning Parfums de Nicolai L'EAU CHIC. It's not often that mint and geranium are married in this way. Unfortunately, L'EAU CHIC seems in some ways like a mediocre remake of an excellent film. Why bother? It is less rich and substantial and opens with a decidedly body spray or deodorant-like vibe. Too much mint for my tastes and not enough depth. This just does not strike me as a perfume. In the perfumer's defense, this creation appears to be intended as a light cologne for summertime. So, regarded in that way, I can say that it is a success, for the stated objective (on the card accompanying my sample) is met. I suspect that I might have liked L'EAU CHIC more had I no knowledge of the Malle. But I do, so I don't. Désolée.

I was so excited by the idea of this perfume! I imagined myself in a new life where I would be this effortless chic person everyday from now on! I got really close to buying this one blind. But I'm just old enough and wise enough to have learned from my past mistakes so I ordered a sample. Thank god. I tried it twice (the second round shows how I had hope for this scent!) and both times I washed it off after less than five minutes. It smells like dust. And mold. And a few good things that can't hide the dust and the mold. I can't even begin to understand how on paper the notes are so great and in reality it just stinks! I so wanted to love this! Sorry...

this is a rather chic perfume. it rivals with refinement. all the 'old boys toiletwaters', of Geo F.Trumper, Penhaligons, Creed, Washington Tremlett etc. etc. are either equalled then passed by with this ultrachic, at once demure then also sufficiently welldefined stature of an elegant perfume. at one point I got a camphor,mentholated whiff which I found pleasant. as a homosexual male i always wear ladies' (or hookers') perfumes and I got this along in a refined pouch for my straight twinbrother when I bought 2 flacons of 'Rose-Oud', also unparalelled in its restraint and yet superquality.

My bottle of Odalisque arrived in a box smelling like a dapper old gentleman in his PJs. I panicked, wondering what reformulation nightmare could cause such a change. It all ended happily when I discovered a sample of this stuff tucked in the packaging. I dabbed some out just to be sure it really was that bad. Yep. Toothpaste, mouthwash and expensive soap. But not like those things straight out of the bottle, but instead, after they've been used. Bleh. Then I read the description and I do admire how accurately the perfumer captured the smell of a posh bathroom. Why though?

Sort of Geranium Pour Monsieur aimed to the ladies. Same concept, different execution. Mint and geranium on a clean (soapy) floral woody base. The mint here, leans definitely towards the toothpaste type of aroma while geranium is sort of restrained and it's not enough to balance the general sweetness. Average longevity (considering it's an eau). If you want a mint-centered composition, there are better ones out there (Menthe Fraiche, Mentafollia, Herba Fresca...Geranium Pour Monsieur). Rating: 4/10

Oh, this is great. L'eau Chic, as others have said, is very straight-forward. Mint, lavender, and geranium are blended together to create an effortless, easy-going, and confident fragrance that makes you feel, well, chic! Some have said it smells like toothpaste and it does, but very, very expensive toothpaste. It's simple, well done, and feels high quality. Certainly versatile and inoffensive. All in all, it's fresh, it's fun, and I'm happy with it. Enjoy!

Sheer and breezy as a tennis game- no, not even tennis- this is the wrist of a young woman who must keep a feathered shuttlecock aloft in a game of badminton. It’s spring and the breeze is enough that she wishes she wore her white cotton sweater. The sun is just powerful enough to make golden the fine hair and tiny beads of sweat on the back of her arm. Chic like this I have never been.

A bit like Kenzo air and L'Antimatiere in that it's a sheer dry scent with a mild wood/fresh air vibe and no sharp loud notes. First on, the Geranium and peppermint are clear but not obtrusive, with the sandal and other notes appearing as just mild wood. The whole thing fades fairly quickly to the sheer wood/air scent. Very nice, but also very sheer.

I'm always on the lookout for a good composition with mint. So far they are all a bit meh. Mint doesn't seem to last... a fleeting freshness, like toothpaste. Initially this one is an Ooo.. but then the mint turns so nose twitchingly peppery, and then slightly stale smelling. I don't get much else either. A touch of lavender maybe. Insubstantial.

Minty, fresh, aromatic, musk. Unisex masculine leaning, very French and a bit serious. Awesome for attending a Polo match in hot weather. Really evokes white clothes on an outdoors summer sports event. Very well blended with quality ingredients. Not my personal style, but well made nonetheless.

I like this. I want to wear this. I understand that its sheerness is part of the design. But it fades to nothing too quickly. Anyone know of something similar that has more punch without being obtrusive?
