Musc Intense

Fruity boozy opening is delightful. This pear with I think a touch of aldeydes that mellows into a soft musky fragrance. Mixes classical with modern perfumery. Although it's said to have lots of rose materials it doesn't strike me as a rose dominant fragrance. It actually slightly reminds me of the discontinued Demeter Mr. Bubble but switch the banana for the musk, and make it with better quality materials, and make it smell much better and more complex. Lots of musks get compared to other musks, but aside from that slight similarity to demeter, it's unique to everything else I've tried. It might be a bit feminine to some, but as a musk and soapy fragrance fiend, I find it unisex for me. I picked this up today after smelling it for a second time and confirming it's a LOVE. I had no idea what the individual notes were and only after buying it did I discover why this had resonated with me so: it has a top note of pear, and I ADORE a good pear note! The pear is so bright and juicy it actually reminds me of my big love Leila Lou (which I've run out of, sigh!). After the initial fruity opening it settles into a beautiful, comforting, clean musk. I don't find this animalic at all, but more akin to Jovoy's Musc Pallas - a fluffy, friendly, happy musk. I think this will be amazing in hot weather but definitely can work year round and is a tame enough musk for the work environment. I love it! I'm a huge fan of Patricia de Nicolai and always happy to add another of her beautiful creations to my collection :-)

Sample from a Nicolai POS. Wish I knew more about perfumes and could write something more articulate - but I am just a curious sniffer. I see myself as a lover of male-ish spices, and MI was a big surprise.Small lessons I learned with this wearable, rounded, warm rose: wrist skin is "stingy", retaining notes in their clean form but with little volume; the neck amplifies their headiness. Slowly getting to the drydown, it reminds me of Shalimar's (crisp clove, I assume). And this rose is so alive - maybe it is the violet that keeps it alert? No musc at all on me, certainly not TBS white musc. Small calming marvel that deserves a little time and attention. Long lasting. Wish list!

Musk, pear and rose, I love it! Versatile, soapy, linear, easy to wear, office compatible. Delicate and elegant, more for woman. I can wear it during winter, spring and fall, for day and night. 10/10 In this brand, for winter and fall, I like Musc intense (pear, rose and musk). In this brand, for spring and summer, Rose Pivoine (rose, pivoine, sandalwood) > Fig Tea (osmanthus, fig, tea) = Eau Mixte (citrus, mint, blackcurrants, vetiver) = Eau de Yuzu (yuzu, grapefruit, wood) > Cap Neroli (neroli, petit grain, oakmoss).

Soft dusty floral white musk with hints of pear or stone fruit. Leans feminine. Very Chanel vibes, maybe from the aldehydes. Really pleasant casual wear, maybe for a woman mid-20s and over. I picture a confident, intelligent, athletic woman going about her active weekend day with this. As a male, not exactly for me, but I would enjoy it on my partner. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7

Musc Intense is so perfectly balanced. Not too much rose, not too much fruit (I get apple), not too much shampoo, the result is a pleasing abstraction with occasionally recognizable elements. This will make a great year-round any occasion scent when life presents more important issues than 'what scent shall I wear today?'

It's called "Musc Intense" but its dominant scent is rose on my skin. It's a dry, potpourri-like, sweet rose scent. This perfume reminds me of Nahema by Guerlain but is not so gorgeous as Naema. That makes it more wearable in daily, casual situations.

Another love from me with this gorgeous fragrance. The opening is divine with the rose and pear. Dries down to a warm, musky, powdery hug. I love the offerings from this house, I haven’t had a bad one yet.

This is so good! It’s fruity and fresh and powdery almost a bit soapy. It reminds me of my grandmother in the most wonderful way. An absolute love ❤️❤️❤️

Musc Intense turned out to be a bit of a surprise. I expected something dark and dense along the lines of Musc Ravageur, given the style of other Nicolaï perfumes. Instead, MI is a bright, squeaky-clean floral-musk scent, fresh in a detergent-like manner. It is quite synthetic, and not my thing, but isn't a bad example of the genre. A nice lipstick accord at the heart makes it a cut above other similar scents. MI opens with clean, even sterile, white musk that lingers throughout. There is an aldehydic edge here, adding to the clean brightness. The pear note is quite prominent up top, synthetically sweet but not unpleasant, melding nicely with the musk. For me, musky pear always brings to mind Britney Spears Curious, but here it is much cleaner, like Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc., but in the squeaky-clean detergent style of the latest Frédéric Malle, Acne Studios. There is an ozonic quality to it, an airy but synthetic freshness. As it develops, powdery rose creeps in, which, alongside the musk, brings to mind Narciso Rodriguez for Her/SJP Lovely. Violet follows, forming a nice lipstick accord alongside the rose. Clean jasmine rounds out the powdery florals. However, it remains sterilely synthetic, with the blindingly-white musk permeating this scent until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a feminine-leaning warm weather scent. The powdery floral accord is the best thing about MI, but it is too sterile for me. However, it is a nice take on this scent profile, certainly better than the aforementioned Acne Studios. #cleangirlscent before it was a thing. 3/5.

Okay, so I'm a musk guy, especially the cozy, the dainty, the powdery. All of which this is. The pear note in the opening is Soooo pronounced it kinda throws me a little coupled with the 'whiteness' and clean nature of the musk and ethereal whisp of rose. However, as soon as it starts warming up an regressing into it's powder state it's a gorgeous, snuggley, apricot powder puff and very subtly spiced carnation, with warm tones underneath, it's basically a million classic perfumes but with the musky, pillowiness turned up to eleven, with very creamy, sandalwood development too. There's a few modern takes on these soft, musk themes out there but this is not one of them, (well apart from the fruity melon/pear top I suppose) it's classic, classic, classic as you'd expect from PdN. I mean I like it, I like it a lot, it feels like a real bedrock of perfumery, but does it stimulate me on a deeper level? does it compel me to buy? I have to be picky and say no, the opening doesn't appeal to me, which is nickpicking at this point because a good 90% of the wearing does. The truth of the matter is it's almost a given that these perfumes are going to well made and smell good, but how many from this brand do you really need in your collection? I would answer only the ones which speak to/and/or/Spellbind you.

This fragrance makes me smell very much like my late mother did sometime between 1975 and 1982. I was too little then to know what perfume she wore, but this brings that deja vu feeling. Right after spraying, I do catch some similarity to Chanel No. 5 (which I’ve never really loved). Then it briefly turns into something like classic body lotion (not my favourite moment either). But very quickly it becomes truly beautiful: a soft, feminine classic that reminds me a little of Quelques Fleurs Original and the elegant women of past century. After that it stays close to my skin in gentle, feminine wafts, and oh... the level of nostalgia. Yes, it is a bit reminiscent of Nivea blue cream, yet still clearly a perfume. Lovely packaging.

Warm fragrance with fruity, floral top notes and white musk at its base. I agree with Ras.Kel.5, I believe there are unlisted aldehydes here. One type adds some sparkle to a pear note, almost converting it into a sweet mandarin orange. The other creates that instant soapiness, contributing to the powdery drydown. At first it reminded me Broadway Nite by Bond No 9, but then it changed almost instantly into something more feminine and powdery. It's a well-balanced, soft, elegant fragrance with a moderate sillage and 10-12-hour tenacity. Although it didn't make it to my list of absolute favorites, it is a nice addition to my fragrance wardrobe.

I just received some scented strips from the Nicolai perfumery. The combination of notes seemed so brilliant that I absolutely had to try this perfume. I think Musc Intense is a very good perfume, it reminds me very much of True Love by Elizabeth Arden (which I already have), but the difference in quality is really noticeable. Like True Love, it also has a soapy feel, so I'd recommend trying it on your skin before actually buying it. All in all, it's not unique, but it's quite sophisticated and from what I can tell, it should have a really great lasting power. I think it has the potential of becoming one of their most appreciated fragrances.

Smells so interesting. Fruity, musky, powdery notes are what I smell. Musc Intense does seem to be a little too fruity for me. Musc Intense is a good one for musk lovers who want some fruity/powdery notes added to their musk. I like this just as much as Royal Muska by Micallef which I sampled recently but they are different enough to sample both. This is not really my style but it's lovely. Second fragrance I've tested from this house and I like both of them. I bought a travel spray of fig tea a few months ago but didn't love it enough to buy a bottle. -

This one is a sweetie. Maybe it's because I've just come from testing out "Number One Intense," but this is cheerfully and deliciously refreshing. The opening makes you want to drink it. Not because it's juicy, but because it's ... elixir-like. That said, after some time, it dries down into something a bit run-of-the-mill. It doesn't have as much personality and feels just like a nice rosy fragrance, something you might find in a lot of places. So it's an easy pass for me, but I'm thankful to it for the relief if it's given me post-Number One, ha.

Where is the musk? I was enticed into a blind buy by the reviews describing the fragrance as "aldehydic", "soapy", "vintage". It wasn't quite as I expected. Musc Intense starts out with a super fruity rose and pear. Vintage as in the green "Smurfs" soda and rose bubble bath soap from the 1980's. The opening then tones downs, the rose is joined by some warmth. That must be the musk but I suspect that I'm somewhat anosmic to it (can't smell it). I quite like to wear this scent to bed, it's comforting and nice.

What a charming, feminine scent! First time I thought it is way too sweet, but after the pear opening calmes, the pleasant soapy and floral aroma stays. I love the combination of rose and carnation here, it is balanced and although it is a bit simple, smells tasteful and elegant. The musky base is soft, not too deep, just for a warmth. I can imagine wearing it - and if somebody thinks something about old-fashioned wear, heavens!, so be it! :-)

I'm a fan of Patricia Nicolai parfums - elegant, high-quality and an incredible nose behind these offerings. However, this particular scent is a tricky one. I initially, upon first wearing, was impressed with this fragrance and it's beautiful rose top notes. But, applying this again, I got an overwhelming animalic civet and/or castoreum scent. Intense musk, indeed!

THe opening, on my skin, was a soapy-clean with a subtle hint of spice. The fragrance dries down to a wonderfully warm floral-musk combination, with an inherent sweetness throughout. Very long lasting. A very nice clean, soft musky, compelling and wrist-smelling scent! Definitely interesting, in a good way. (4)

Dry (for this house) powdery rose with a light vintage musk base. Casually elegant. Feminine. This perfume gives that lovely powdery cloud effect. A safe, clean scent but with more character and depth than typical for the white musk genre.

It starts on me with rose and musk. Soapy, creamy and quite fresh musk. After about one hour I get juicy, sweet pear notes. At the end of it there is no rose nor pear anymore. In 10 hours there is sweeter soapy musk left. Great longevity.

A pretty floral scent with a very prominent(cleverly used) fruity note. It puts a smile on my face, but it's nothing to write home about. This is a feminine scent we've all smelled on somebody in our lives.

This is wonderful before bed as a continuation of a warm bubblebath..

Powdery-musky green rose with a sweet, watery pear. That's about it. Somewhat fresh, nothing complicated, linear drydown. Moderate projection for 3-4hr, longevity 6-8hr.

I love when sellers gift generous decants of unique fragrances with full-bottle perfume purchases. I received such a decant with a recent full bottle purchase of VC&A "Orchid Leather." I've owned/worn/love a few Nicolai Parfumeur fragrances. Saint Honore is a total love. Ditto for Caravanserail. Full disclosure: With the exception of the musk notes in Frederic Malle "Musc Ravageur," musk is a note that does not resonate with me. And I haven't own, or worn Musc Ravageur in years...like in a decade. "Musc Intense" is a powdery, dusty, dirty, sour, bitter, animalic mess on my skin. The pear seems misplaced. The carnation is horrific. The civet is overwhelming. And the musk is nauseating. Just awful. An easy pass.

There are a few notes that I seem to have trouble processing, one is leather and another is tobacco. I manage every once in a while to find a composition that works for me with tobacco and leather—and that’s always kind of a thrill—but that’s not the case with aldehydes. Especially when aldehydes are pushed forward in a composition such as they are in Musc Intense. I would have appreciated a warning from Ms. Nicolai, as aldehydes are missing from the pyramid above. In any case, this is a pass from me. All I get is a generic musk with some kind of unidentifiable floral note. The aldehydes are overpowering any other nuance in this mix. If aldehydes are your thing, then this might work for you.

This opens with a feminine fruity floral accord thanks to the pear and rose. Later, the violet, carnation, and cloves join in. This is a combination my nose did not enjoy, the carnation and cloves add a weird spiciness that goes well with the rose but clashes with the violet. The musk at the base is of the fresh and cool kind. Like other reviewers have mentioned this also has what seem to be unlisted aldehydes which give create a soapy quality that I did not like. Highly recommended for those into vintage perfumes, this definitely has that vibe. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Can be worn year round. Definitely in the feminine end of the gender spectrum.

It's embarrassing , i don't know what happens with this brand...maybe the alcohol they use for each perfume...but i don't like a single one. Even something as lovable as a powdery rose-musk is unwearable for me. I've bring a friend not at all into perfume into the parisian shop and same reaction...he found all the 10 perfumes tested disturbing by "something" strange...like when you smell these imitations of best-sellers. About the perfume, outside the problem, it's ok but there is so many better ones ("Teint de Neige" oh mon amour)

Generic musk mixed with generic florals. there is nothing more to be said, it's incredibly generic and boring without anything to justify it's price and it sticks around forever. This could be a 5$ a bottle walmart perfume and it'd be fine, but for what it's trying to be, and what it actually is it's incredibly boring. In and of itself it's okay to dislike level, but this isn't fancy and should stop pretending to be as such.

Too soapy for me... I expected something more interesting from madame Nicolai. Upd. In 30 minutes the soap transformed into nice strawberry smell, quite wearable. But, still, it is not sophisticated enough for madame Nicolai.

Pretty much a laundry detergent or air freshener with an artificial smell of pear. Very linear. If you're a fan of detergent-like smells, you will absolutely love this. If you're not, you probably will hate it.

Very soapy and powdery. It is classy and elegant; however, it is quite old for my taste. I don't find it seductive or vibrant.

I should like this but it has an artificial smell or I should say something plastic smelling is ruining this for me. Like a pear made of plastic. Plastic flowers and plastic pears. Headache inducing as well.

I find this perfume to be extremely stinky. It is very powerful- I spritzed one spray on my knee and immediately regretted it, then tried to rinse it away, but the perfume stayed put. 0/10

Musc Intense is a well done rose-musk fragrance. In truth, the rose note is rather anodyne, but that's alright, it should only be there to frame the musk. Fortunately, the musk itself does seem to play as a full-bodied, nose-tingling note. A subtle addition of civet has been added, which helps return some lost animality to the musk. I also smell another sharp note that reminds me of a muguet accord. Perhaps it is some combination of the listed pear and carnation. Of course, this is still just synthetic musk and I won't say this is very much better than a drugstore musk, ...also, personally, I find strong rose-florals to not be the best accompaniment for a musk-dominant scent because they tend to compete and overpower the milder sweetness of the musk. Still, if you do like the the looks of this note pyramid, then you'll probably enjoy Intense Musc quite nicely. Edit: It is now mid-January 2026, Inspired to try Musc Intense again, I must say I'm now more receptive to its sophisticated complexity, Maybe the distinctly colder weather is bringing out the best in this. A now-connected accord of pear, galbanum, and carnation is giving off a sweetly green spiciness that I'm enjoying very much.

I wasn’t expecting armpit musk from Patricia de Nicolai. For that I look elsewhere. I might have been expecting boozy-berry-sweet. As it turns out I got neither. Musc Intense is as much a white floral as it is a musk. It starts with snappy florals, starched rather than lush. Rosey, yet white. There’s a feel of alcohol, but not booze, if you catch my meaning. More like slivovitz than creme de cassis. Musc Intense grows drier and crisper. Then it ignites. The heartnotes and drydown have the feel of flowers drying before your eyes. The crispness becomes brightness, the brightness grows glaring and in the end, Musc Intense has a cold-flame feel akin to Lauder’s White Linen. Where White Linen’s drydown reveals a warmed cheek of musky rose, Musc Intense stays blue-flame cold. This glaring tone suggests the corrosive feel of powdered laundry soap, but it does so with a wink. The implication of the cheap side of musk along with double-distilled flowers shows the humor of Musc Intense. It is simultaneously chic and cheeky. Patricia de Nicolai is recognized for her taste and refinement. Kudos to her for spending her style-capital on a cocky and sassy yet modish little number like Musc Intense.

What on earth is there about this not to like? It is a clean musk at its finest. Just because she charges a reasonable amount for her creations doesn't mean they are less worthy. In fact, it makes them more worthy in my book as I assume she does not think I am an idiot. When MUSC/MUSK is in the title, the musk should be in the forefront. It should be in the opening, the middle and the end. Otherwise, get the musk name off the bottle (hello Bond No. 9). This bottle is worthy of carrying the word MUSK in more ways than one. There isn't a scary opening to tolerate to get to the pleasant musk dry down. You can apply this and leave the house shortly after without anyone running for cover. You will smell nice from start to finish. This is a feminine musk...no dirty squealing animals spraying in the woods to this. It is refined and lovely and easy to wear. Clean, pleasant, somewhat soapy and a touch powdery. The floral notes do not overwhelm or camouflage the musk, it remains in the forefront. I love Nicolai's refined and understated take on musk. She understands musk. She doesn't try too hard, she just gets it right.

I put off testing this perfume for quite some time. Why? The name: Musc Intense! I'm more of an ambergris gal, myself. ;-) However, this is nothing like rusty nails and dirty underwear (Agent Provocateur) or std-infested "working girl" (SJP Lovely). Instead, Parfum de Nicolai Musc Intense is a clean musk-drenched floral perfume, and much better than I was expecting. On reflection, I'm not sure why I would have been expecting sweaty musk from this house, nearly all of whose perfumes I find appealing, but sometimes names really do work their persuasive effects on our minds... There is a strong, ever-so-slightly sweet white musk underlying the entire composition, but it is a just-out-of-the-bath clean musk, and it is topped off with enough flowers to create a nice subtly floral perfume. I like it, against all expectations! Obviously anyone who dislikes white musk or flowers will not like this, but why would anyone who dislikes white musk be considering this perfume in the first place?

I bought this unsniffed and I'm so glad I did! I was curious about Patricia de Nicolaï interpretation of musk, and it's amazing! Musc Intense reminds me a lot the drydown of my favorite "musk", Santa Maria Novella Muschio Oro (Golden Musk) - an aldehydic rose musk fragrance. Musc Intense is softer than Golden Musk - a more delicate approach. It's basically Turkish rose, a hint of violets, some aldehyds and white musk, resulting in a cosy and soapy "rosy-musk" - elegant but not sophisticated or complex. A very beautiful skin scent and one of my favorite fragrances from Parfums de Nicolaï right now.

This is a multi-faceted and complex fragrance. Overall, it is a floral-musky profile. The dominant note is rose, but the sweet jasmine is also quite noticeable to my nose. Interestingly, although not explicitly mentioned, it has an aldehydic quality with a clean, detergent-like undertone. Violet adds a touch of powderiness. While masterfully composed, the scent feels familiar and distinctly feminine. 7/10

Musc Intense is an elegant, comfortable and smooth, polished flowery-musk fragrance. The musk dominates the whole composition, supported by the rose and the violet. After the drydown I felt a light hint of clove, which adds some interesting twist to it. Musc Intense could be the new favorite for those who loves clean, sligthly powdery white musk fragrances, such as Montale White Musk, or TBS White Musk.

I am not one to gravitate to a perfume with rose as a top note. However, this works with the musk and spice combination. The spices give Musc a touch of something special. I noticed the warm spicy accord initially and during the dry down. If you like rose you will love Musc. The musk is detectable with rose, dominant. Very floral, very feminine. Musc is an elegant. floral and classic fragrance.

A very interesting and haunting musky perfume. On me it smells like rose, musk, strawberry, a bowl of potpourri, and a bit of wax. Unexpected, but it all ties in seamlessly. I like this a lot better than Montale's Roses Musk. This is more multi-faceted and thoughtful. Parfums de Nicolai has not struck out with me yet--I love everything I've sampled!

Feminine musk. Powdery, aldehyde notes, floral notes. Soapy and very elegant. It has a "vintage" feeling in the best possible way. I imagine a beautiful woman in her 30's wearing a white vaporous dress, walking in a park full of flowers, likely holding her child's hand.

Musc begins jasmine rancid and goes through a good journey and ends at a powdery animalic sensation. I don't see it as a fruitti or even pear is there! it's kind of jasmine musk with no spices or roses. Kind of an interesting take of musk.

I really really hate white musk. However in this entry there is something interesting about it. My preference isn't into the genre, however it's one of the best compsitions working with white musk. I wish others followed their style
