Lily Origin

I purchased the renewed 2.0 version (after the June 2024 reformulation) in October 2024. I actually ended up giving it to my husband because it smelled too masculine for my personal taste. I’m Japanese though, so my standards for what smells feminine or masculine may differ from Western preferences. Although the perfume sounds like a fresh or floral perfume it has a sharp strong cologne like scent that leans towards a masculine scent. but it's a great masculine floral scent without smelling of a strong floral. It is listed by Nile as a male's fragrance and the sharp tangy freshness pull very masculine to me. It reminds me of a spicer Givenchy insense ultramarine. On first spray, I immediately smell peppery citrus with light herbal green notes. After a few minutes, a soapy jasmine scent appears while still blending into the citrus and herbal opening. About 15 minutes later, the strong herbal citrus softens into a sweeter citrus mixed with a spicy lily note. The musky, soapy accord becomes stronger and, although jasmine is listed as the middle note, I no longer smell it. At this stage it smells cleaner and aquatic with very little floral presence. Overall, this smells more like a spicy lily worn in a masculine cologne style rather than a soft feminine floral perfume. I can imagine it smelling sexy or feminine on the right person, but to me it smells more like a clean, aquatic man’s fragrance with lily in the background rather than a true lily focused floral.

I had the original version of Lily Origin, and the 1.02 reform version as well. While I didn't notice and major difference, I consider this a floral, fresh, soapy fragrance. Contrary to the review below, I find this leaning more towards a feminine fragrance. Perhaps this has an identity crisis between genders trying to enjoy this. It seems to be popular in Japan, but I see it being sold on secondary markets much more than any other Nile fragrance. I sold mine because it's not my style.
