Ambra Calabria

I don't understand or agree with the comparison to Cedrat Boise. I do agree this would smell jaw-dropping on a woman but it smells absolutely stunning on me as well. The citruses aren't nearly as vibrant nor is there much "juice" to the smell of Cedrat. It's smoothened out very very well but I get bored of the scent profile relatively quickly. Cedrat sits very comfortably in the middle of the olfactory spectrum, while Ambra's amber punches quite deeply for a fresh fragrance and the bergamot touches those peaks of refreshing zest I could only compare to Nio. It makes you want to keep smelling it over and over in hopes you'll finally figure out the mystery behind this composition or something. As if there's some secret note in there that'll make you go "ahhhh, I get it now". Like how I was describing the bergamot highs and the ambery lows peaking on both ends of the olfactory spectrum, it's almost like you want to keep hunting to figure out what exactly is in the middle. But that never comes, at least for me, and I love it. I can't get enough of this stuff. Kinda mad they don't have this in any larger size, I can easily see myself wearing this more than even my other Nishane fragrances like Hacivat or Ani simply because of the nature of the scent profile. I'm a sucker for ambers as well as citruses and this has both of those to the highest quality TOGETHER and blended so masterfully that it's one of the easiest reaches and hardest to resist.

This is incredibly green and citrusy when you first spray it on the skin and for the first few minutes. But within five minutes change to a different phase where most notably I can detect a very warm, soft galbanum and coriander combo. Still green and disarmingly fresh but with a soft spicy, herbal, warmer nuances. After half an hour the vanilla, amber and jasmine take over. In the dry down, Ambra Calabria is first and foremost a warm, powdery, semisweet vanilla with green, bittersweet, florals in background. It’s a very dynamic perfume that takes me on a journey, but at all stages, I do really enjoy the ride! A lot! Smells very realistic and natural, refreshing and soothing! It’s one of those perfumes that don’t smell perfumy. I really love Ambra Calabria! If you love Xerjoff’s Torino 21 or Ivory Route I do think you will enjoy this! It doesn’t smell exactly like any of the two Xerjoff, but it’s done in the same expensive manner, with high quality ingredients and highly concentrated natural oils! Ambra Calabria will be my scent for summer days with temperatures above 40 Celsius degrees when I go on holiday in the South of Europe! I got a 50 ml bottle and will be perfect for when I am on the go. Packaging and bottle five stars. Minimalistic, elegant, chic, with a hefty golden, metallic cap with a intricate design.

Citrus ambergreen finished with lovely soft vanilla musk finish. This is an ambergris accord prominent scent. The galbanum is outstanding and really brings everything together like a conductor. The vanilla accord is also done very well. I also started out not very impressed because of initial performance. Maybe I sprayed too much but 10 sprays right after a shower and it wasn't just me struggling to smell it. Forgot about it for months before randomly doing 3 sprays under the shirt and having a fantastic experience with much better performance. I can't come to a firm conclusion but I think it was a mix of the bottle needing to be bloomed and mature some, unfamiliar fragrance with fatigue from big hauls, also maybe I oversprayed leaving myself vulnerable to nose blindness. Anyway it's been solid since then 5-6 sprays if it's all I'm wearing. But I really enjoy the 3 sprays under the shirt with this. It's not a scent I need to dig my nose in to get the best parts. It works so well trapped under the shirt. And this way I can also enjoy something else on my arms. N.R. BN edp goes along so well and leaves me in a musky bliss.

Nishane continues to surprise me in a positive way. So far, I have tried: Hacivat, Ani, Hundred Silent Ways, Safran Colognise and, now, Ambra Calabria. I love them all for different reasons, but they all have one thing in common, and that is superb quality and performance. Ambra Calabria is no exception, although it does not have the beast-mode performance of, say, Hacivat and Ani, which are virtually everlasting and could fill a large room if over-sprayed. I would have to say that Nishane is now my favorite house, given their unique and consistently great fragrances. Ambra Calabria opens up as a lustrous green and fresh citrusy aromatic fragrance for those who have an affinity towards sweeter fragrances. It is extremely well blended. On my skin, it dries down to a smooth, soft, powdery and balsamy aura of cleanliness. It remains moderately sweet (compared to Ani and Hundred Silent Ways), which is unusual for a green and citrusy fragrance. Because this is less intense than Nishane's other fragrances, I think this could work as an all-year signature scent, but it probably shines on warm summer days.

Delicious mouthwatering opening - I’m a sucker for bergamot and green fragrances. The coriander peeks through adding a bitter zing, jasmine non-detectable but I suspect adds harmony. There is an underlying whisper of the base notes which has me scratching my head. This was a blind buy and I think I knew what I was already in for - an olfactory confusion mixing 2 of my favourite fragrance genres together - fresh greens and ambery vanillas. I say confusion because I enjoy these accords separately. So to meld them together is making my brain explode. Unique is the best description, and not in a negative way such as “strange” as some reviews have commented. It is as it is, a warm fragrance mixed with a cold fragrance, and it is challenging as it is pleasing. I am bouncing between absolutely loving it and wanting to keep it forever, and considering selling my bottle as I won’t be overly sad if it’s gone. It’s almost as if Wulong Cha and Ani had a love child, who grew up to change their appearance a bit.

Nose Note #899 I'm surprised noone mentioned it, but the closest thing that I have to this is Amouage Beach Hut Man. I think it totally translates the same vibe, but Ambra Calambria is a step more modern whereas Beach Hut Man is half-way old-school. Also Ambra Calambria has mild sweetness, Beach Hut has none. But it's similarly bitter-green minus the mint accord. To my nose this is quite masculine, not sure about the unisex consensus at all. Going strong, but it's not that long-lasting according to my book. Eternal is almost unbearable, long-lasting is the whole solid day, then there's stuff like Ambra Calambria that are between moderate and long-lasting. "Moderate" are most UAE dupes. This isn't niche, it's pretty designer-like, but pulling a lot from the 90s-00s releases, it's not that modern. Easy to wear, quite a dumb reach and in that sense honestly not that exciting. Nothing particularly new. Just very good piece of perfumery. 8.7/10, as good and as strong as a citrus fragrance gets

A very fresh opening with prominent green notes and a hint of florals. From that it smoothly transitions to a beautiful amber scent which lingers for a long time. I get occasional whiff of it whenever i move around, the amber is very sexy. This works as a very nice summer night scent for me, the opening is refreshing and uplifting and from there freshness slowly fades and this faint sweet and sexy amber slowly starts to become prominent with a touch of musk which makes it long lasting even in hot climate. I wouldn't wear this in the dead of the summer though. This is not a beast like other Nishanes but does it job pretty well and has like 6-7 hours longevity easily on me. Really amazing scent and the scents which can properly combine citrus with vanilla and amber are really a piece of art and worth applauding. @Dhandho perfectly decribed it as "Green and Gold". Surely give this a try if you are a fan of Nishane.

Transition to greatness. A hallmark of quality, skill and sophistication is a scents ability to transition. As time goes on the dry down becomes (statistically speaking) the core of the scent. So many times the drydown is a let down. Not in this situation, this an amber like no other. It starts out as a textbook citrus, one enhanced by salt, spice, and flowers, a citrus that is becoming of this house, a house that is both bold and chic. The colours that come to my mind to describe this is green and gold. But then, the fragrance turns into a sultry summery vanilla, a textbook amber fragrance - almost “Ani-like” but not as sweet(which is a good thing). Amber’s should be golden, but who knew they could be bright and golden and possibly worn all year round like this one. The combination of an orthodox citrus and orthodox amber make this a very underrated unorthodox gem. 4.25/5

My first full bottle of a Nishane and despite having samples (and loved) both Ani and Fan Your Flames, I found myself on Jomashop looking at Ambra Calabria on sale and pulling the blind trigger... And let me tell you that I am so glad I did! It's definitely an interesting scent that starts green before turning amber. Many others with better noses and more experience have broken the notes down, but to me, this is a very accessible wear by a very high quality niche brand. I can see how some smell playdough, which might sound weird, but its a beautiful scent whether you pick up that comparison or not. The first couple times I wore it, I over sprayed and it was still gone within 6 hours. After letting it sit for a few weeks, the performance has definitely improved. It's just a gorgeous scent and perfect for the spring weather!

Whoa this is good. A very green vanilla body with tiny well rounded citric accents and light spices. Very very faint soapiness in the background. Well balanced sweetness. Not a gourmand. Again, very green, vanilla, very light citrus, very very light spices, very faint soapy theme. Well mannered projection. Lastly, please do forgive me for killing the surprise, but oh my days, that musky dry down!! Wow this is beautiful. All year round, unisex, very soft-spoken compared to its siblings in this house. It is worthy of a try at least once in your lifetime. This is a love. Nishane does not disappoint. This is sexy. What a fascinating discovery. Out of all the fragrances that I own, regardless of price, this scent is totally me. 10. My new signature as this post is being written. Wow. Wow..

This is a beautiful summer-amber perfume that opens with bright green citruses then morphs into a soft and pleasant ambery musk (slightly powdery) in the dry down. Jasmine and coriander are listed in the mid but they do not overpower at all. If anything the Jasmine and coriander are blended so beautifully as supporting notes to the overall scent profile that gives it a unique smooth elegance! In the dry down, the green leaves disappear while the bergamot and galbanum linger in the background— as the amber, vanilla and musk take center stage. The overall feel I get from Ambra Calabria is of happiness and cheerfulness, laid back summertime vacation! Does not project loudly but has a beautiful scent bubble and brightness in the air! I love it!!! STUNNING! Perfectly unisex!

The most non-linear fragrance I’ve ever tried. Opens with bright, fresh, sharp, juicy green citrus. Quite strong at this stage. Changes to a warm, light, aromatic soft amber. A softer warm, mostly skin scent. This isn’t spicy to my nose, not even a green fresh spice. I really love it, as I hate citrus scents that are linear, I find them mostly too masculine, and just too much after a while. This will be perfect to wear on a morning to wake up for work, and then it changes to something easier to live with throughout the day. You could also top up with other fragrances on top of this as the dry down is just a lovely soft warm amber scent that wouldn’t clash with anything. It’d actually be a lovely scent after the shower too.

Gorgeous summery, fresh, citrusy, green, slightly flowery scent turning soft and sweet but not cloying or juvenile. if you are looking for something fresh but with depth, inoffensive but attractive, this is it Opens very green and citrusy, and a bit sharp, but quickly melts into a perfect lemon curd to me. the lemon curd melts to reveal sweet amber'y core. It is soft-sweet though, just a mild sweetness, and I although I don't feel any vanilla and wouldn't guess the musk, I guess they soften the amber somewhat. I expected it to be very girly, but it's feminine leaning unisex, and perfect for all ages P.S. the citrus made me think of Amalfi coast lemon orchards rather than Calabria. I'd name it Ambra d'Amalfi instead :)

I have been testing a sample for this for a couple of days now and so far I'm really enjoying it. For those who have/know TF's Metallique-as you know it opens quite soapy/aldehydic then it turns to this slightly sweet gorgeous vanilla cupcake scent. Ambra Calabria is Metallique's drydown. My nose is truly enjoying this, the con however is the sillage isnt much, it starts off a bit stong then in about an hour that sillage starts to dry down to a skin scent, this would be in my top 10 if the sillage was better and the projection went a bit further. Still considering a FB since there's currently a sale because the scent is amazing, cons withstanding.

Been adding to my Nishane collection recently. This is one fine addition. The opening is citrusy and quite bitter, lasting around 15-20 minutes before a tinge of spice enters. Gradually, you get that Amber and vanilla gently breezing into the mix. The greenness is still there, but after half an hour it’s joined by a pleasant sweetness, where it continues for a good 6-7 hours. Not a beast like Pachuli Kozha or Fan Your Flames, but it’s a fine spring/summer/fall fragrance that performs well on a warm day or evening. You’ll get a few compliments wearing this. Another fine release from our Turkish friends.

Biggest thing, test on your skin, first spray on paper is renaissance from Xerjoff. Put it on your skin and the warm ambery vanillas come through with the citrus. It’s borderline gourmand, if I had to give it a picture in my mind I would say the little lemon cakes in Game of Thrones & House of the Dragon. Very rich and almost buttery vanilla but the citrus makes it super bright, but like most sweet things it doesn’t last long which is disappointing because I want it to last much longer since I love the contrast of a warm vanilla and I do love renaissance so this reminding me of that is a huge win.

Took time to grow on me. Wasn't impressed off the test strip. Few days later I gave it a full wear with like 8-10 sprays. Smelled better on skin but didn't get performance. So I set it aside until recently and gave it a wear. 3 sprays under the shirt lasted all day. I kept going in. Now I want to wear it more often. It's a waxy green thing that I think I'm getting from the galbanum and Ambergris. Buttery "ambergreen" accord. I'm wondering if the frag bloomed or the season changed my perception. Further investigation is needed. I think I love it.

Whoa...This one is very very unique. Genuinely notable. Fresh bergamot, with green notes and non-feminine florals. A dry, almost woody, amber, reminiscent of a dry sauna. A touch of vanilla, with just a tiny tiny touch of barbershop/aftershave/barbasol. Really incredible stuff, masterful blending for all of this to be so present so distinctly and without notes fighting each other. Feels refined and mature. I am not certain if it is "for me", doesn't really "feel like it evokes my persona", but am very impressed by this work from Nishane.

I have to say that Ambra Calabria is probably the most underrated Nishane fragrance ever. It is one of my favourites from the house and the versatility of this one is actually excellent. It was definitely love at the first sniff to me. Plus, the journey of using this fragrance in every phase of its life is also incredible, because the difference can be quite drastic. It can be a green fragrance, it can turn into a freshie, it can be warm and aromatic, and it can be citrusy. I'm so mad at myself for not wearing this more often.

Great fragrance. My additions to the below are that I find the green notes to prevail slightly over the amber facet. But boy, oh boy, that amber/vanilla is rich and savory....(a la Grand Soir and Ani but less woodsy). More, please! I am smitten with this. I have Wulong as well, and I love them both, but in different ways. 😉(Get it?) I reallllly wish this projected during the amber phase.That part of the fragrance sits really close to the skin. The Ambra ‘show’ ends all too quickly, too. But damn it’s good while it lasts!
