Santalove

Smells like Samsara, Bijan, Tuscany, Venezia.. Basically a spicy powdery sandalwood with white flowers, carnations and tonka.

32 C (90 F) no breeze. santalove' on all day and i'm lovin' it. slow day, put up some pickled green chili, made a red sauce with lots of garlic, and roasted zucchini; and the santalove' kept me company with a sweet layer in lieu of a t-shirt. i am a shorts and t-shirt kinda guy. but a great scent completes my preferred daily attire. when i first got this fragrance, i didn't think much of it, but a second wearing insures that it will get into the rotation in the near future. not sure how i would like in a more formal setting. it is sweet but not overly floral on me. in a business setting it could get a little obtrusive, so might be for a cooler day with business casual if wearing publicly. not restaurant suitable (whenever that might happen again!) however, spending more time around the house, it's a fragrance to be explored and enjoyed.. sept 2022 it's gone. but i remember it fondly. sweet memories, not because the perfume was sweet, but because the lovely remeniscence of spicey warm softened. dreamy and rather intimate. it has lasted hours without much development. 11/08/20 11C sunny, wore santalove outside, went to the farmers market. really nice --sweet without being floral or cloying. shiny and bright.

The beginning is hard to describe, and not particularly pleasant. Maybe a bit of an astringent quality? A bit medicinal? This settles after 5 mins though. I don’t find it that sweet. At first. It becomes a ylang-vanilla-sandalwood, which is nice, and does perhaps lean feminine due to a powdery, floral feel. It does smell like there’s some jasmine in the mix. It has that heady, almost cloying feel during the first 30mins. This reminds me of a mature woman’s scent from the 80’s. There’s nothing sweet and girly about this. It’s a floral sweetness, not sugary, and not particularly vanillary, although I’m sure that will come in the dry down. I’ll finish my review later. Ok, the drydown is much sweeter, a slightly floral, vanilla, very powdery sandalwood. It is similar to Roja Danger Essence (which I have a full bottle of), but Danger gets there quicker, and is definitely not the same. Danger has a sweeter slightly citrus opening, and a bit of a nutty note in the drydown which isn’t present in Santalove, and I think more vanilla too. Santalove has more longevity, and overall isn’t quite as sweet or powdery.

my bottle has had time to "breathe." sunny 26C light breeze. and it blossoms. the florals come out, boosted by the citrus. not sure about "skanky" on me, it's more clean and robust. definitely niche--london boutique instead of oriental decadence. definitely harrod's-worthy. it may have been discontinued since i don't seem to see on the nishane website, so i feel lucky to be able to enjoy the remains of my bottle knowing that i did not miss out on it.

As opposed to the reviews below, this is all about the sandalwood on my skin, which, admittedly, amplifies sandalwood as though it's going out of style. Maybe, if I squint a bit, I can agree that Santalove has a slightly floral, powdery aspect. I do get a drop of vanilla/tonka after about 30 mins. Anyway, Santalove opens shop with a slightly skanky, creamy, floral sandalwood and then never really closes. Because the longevity is ridiculous. Open all night, 24/7, guys. Sillage... mmm, I'd say it's good and stable all the way. Can we talk about the skankyness???? It's only a teeeny tiiiny hint, but I swear there's a slight fecal, indolic note there... I would have thought the culprit to be my favourite repeat offender, jasmine, but Santalove supposedly contains none. So, Ylang Ylang, have you finally betrayed me, you beautiful, custardy bastard?

I quote nottheaverageidiot and I agree with the skankyness of the opening, sort of oud/Gorgonzola cheese among the top notes, it doesn't last for long, and it's a pity! It's not out of tune, on the contrary it gives character and enhances the oriental mood of the fragrances. It's a very beautiful formula that beckons to some retro glorious orientals of the past century.

I must echo the others- this is almost exactly Samsara! Dewy, fleshy, fruity ylang on top of vanilla'd sandalwood. There is a definite presence of nutty tonka and a dirty musky tinge as well, which makes Santalove the darker and headier of the too- it is not as polite and restrained as Samsara.

Opening as an ylang-tonka bomb, smelling very literally the sum of its notes, no secrets or surprises. It then dries down to sandalwood, in this phase very nice and powerful. Similar to the Adam Levine EDP for women. Finishes somewhat dirty and fades away a bit too soon.

A very powdery hand cream like scent with lots of Ylang Ylang, vanilla and tonka bean with soft woods. Not very good imo, when you want Sandalwood you at least want to smell it not creamy powder.

I want this because I'm in love with Santa Claus, this would be the perfect addition to my Santa collection 🥰
