Unutamam

I don't give 10/10 ratings easily. For something to get a 10 from me, it really must hit the spot, striking just the right balance of quality, blending, and of course, stink. Unutamam is the first fragrance that manages to earn a 10/10 from my part, yet it should be noted that this fuming composition will not be everyone's cup of tea. Matos' creations in general are not made for the masses, the same way ATH fragrances are not family-friendly. And in Unutamam's case, arguably one of the finest creations Matos has put together, you should expect no apology if your olfactive receptors file a complaint. That's because Unutamam opens with a pungent aromatic opening, fougère-style, with a sharp, herbaceous rosemary accompanying a slightly fresher lavender with its mildest whisper of floral clean sweetness. It's quite an accurate recreation of the scent of lavender too. The juniper, a personal favorite note in perfumery, adds this just-as-potent kick of pine and dry woodiness, with a spicy, resinous backbone. All of this is enveloped in a crisp, lightly sweet mint bubble which is very fitting and adds that recognizable mentholated scent. It all smoothly morphs with the heart notes, with the spiky aromatics from the opening being replaced by a less-obtrusive yet still undoubtedly pungent oregano. It appends a bitter facet to its aromatic, camphoraceous aroma, while some woodiness can also be sensed in the back. The patchouli feels right at home, yet for one of the first times in a fragrance I have smelt, the patchouli gets overshadowed by another note, namely the oregano in this case. In most compositions, patchouli likes to steal the spotlight by overpowering the rest of the notes, but this time it has been humbled. It contributes with musky notes and further enhancing the camphoraceous edge, maybe also throwing in a hint of sweetness. The carnation and jasmine are severely underpowered in this instance, so they humbly take a step back and aid with a mix of spices from the carnation and a sweeter, smoother scent from the jasmine. "Dirty florals" kind of vibe. Once at the base, Matos couldn't have chosen a more fitting finale. Enveloped in remaining minty aromatics and smokiness which only turns denser as time passes, we stumble across a couple of beavers enjoying their cigars (read @CivetOnly's review). The warm animalic muskiness here blends masterfully with smokiness, so you don't get such a strong animalic-driven base. Actually, I'd say that the smoky and leathery facets are the most prominent at the base, not the animalic quality. That's also thanks to some cistus which further refines the smoky-leathery accords, while also adding an ambery medicinal note. Some oakmoss can also be sensed, once again fitting into this blend like a glove on a hand, lending a damp earthy accord. However, what might seem completely out of place when you look at the notes pyramid is the caramel note. But don't worry; it is just as tastefully incorporated in here as everything else. It doesn't scream for attention. It doesn't burn your throat with sweetness. It just subtly and smoothly envelops all the notes with a thin layer of its creamy richness; just enough to not ruin the scent and not go completely unnoticed. Absolute cinema. One other thing that Unutamam is famous for is its beastly performance. It's probably this that makes it more difficult to wear than the scent profile itself. And on my very pretentious skin, I got an interesting result. Unless my sample is suboptimal due to a bad/reformulated batch, longevity peaked around 7 hours at best, which is far from what I'd consider beast-mode longevity. However, projection did not disappoint. Every room I walked into, I left a trail behind as if I was radioactive. Projection was easily surpassing 3+ feet, and the craziest thing is that this wasn't just for the first hour. It was for nearly 4 hours. After that, it would finally start mellowing down, yet it was still evidently projecting. And even after hour 6, when I could barely sense it on my wrist, I would still get a whiff here and there from my neck. So yes, this is potent stuff. Don't play around with overspraying. For me, scent profile-wise, Unutamam is an instant love, and hence I don't find it particularly challenging. But the performance will definitely limit its wearability. Aside from leisurely, I'm not entirely sure where you could wear Unutamam. Probably certain outdoor events would be a main options, but certainly not fit for school/office or your daily errands (unless you want a sequel to Chernobyl). However, I do believe you can get away with it with fewer sprays. So either that or... just go all in and watch as the decorative plaster starts falling off the walls of the city's blocks. Unforgettable. Unutamam, whether you wear it or smelled it in full on someone else, is not a scent you just forget. It strikes with all it has to make sure it leaves a lasting impression, make you react, regardless if it is a good or bad impression. That's the only thing Unutamam guarantees: a reaction. For most people, this will be too much, and the tradeoffs in wearability will make it even seem stupid for some. But all it takes is a little push, a little "Screw it, I like it so I wear it" mentality, and you'll see you'll reach towards it more often. That's something I believe is very important for anyone in this hobby to learn - you wear a fragrance for yourself, not for the others. You wear it because you like it, not because you need some sort of validation or approval from your social circle. And the sooner you learn that, the more you'll enjoy this hobby. If you are anything like me and you stumble upon a fragrance and read things like the nose behind it wouldn't wear it, swamp ass, bad breath, more than one spray will kill people, DO NOT blind buy, well, I don't run in the opposite direction. Instead I go online to find out at the best price and click order now. Am I brave or just stupid? Well as it turns out, neither. Looking at the notes and putting the reviews aside, this is something that looked like I would love. I am a big fan of unapologetic animalic powerhouses from the 70s and 80s and this fits that bill nicely. Now I can definitely see why people can be disgusted by this, spray it directly on skin or tester paper and put your nose right in it and yeah, it stinks. But here's the thing, it's an extract, not an edt or parfum. What I've personally learned from extracts is that if you truly want them to shine you can't spray them on you from just a few inches away. You have to mist it on you from almost an arm's length away, this opens up the fragrance and let's you fully enjoy all the notes and transitions. It opens with a green smokey vibe, the oregano is not like the one in interlude man, or at least doesn't come off that way, I guess mixed with the rosemary and lavender give it almost a camphor/tar effect with a minty leather. The next phase on me it gets quite floral, I'm thinking this has a big dose of Jasmine or hedione, but then again to me sometimes jasmine and castoreum can smell similar intially so it's probably an amplification of two together. Now the beaver piss starts kicking in and that slight fecal smell but with the patchouli and Amber and a cold breeze it's quite magical. It's like it a chameleon at this phase, every time I get a waft it's something different, making me wonder if it's actually me. The dry down is my favorite part, the beaver piss has come to it's peak stage (the best part) and the oak moss is phenomenal. Can't say I really smell caramel but it is very warm and cozy at this stage so maybe that's it. Now what I love about this is that unlike with most fragrances where the dry down is the best part but by that time it's merely a skin scent, this MF is still pumping hard. Honestly I put 3 sprays in the way I mentioned and no one died. I was scared about how my wife would respond to this fragrance though. I applied it before going shopping and when I got home she started helping me put away groceries. Great. Here it comes. "what are you wearing?" Why I said. "It smells really good". Hmmm, I told her the story behind this fragrance and she said of course she likes it because I smell like a man, apparently all the fragrances of mine she hates are the overly sweet feminine basic bro fragrances. Even better because this means I can wear this when I please, my wife matters, fuck anyone else lol. So yeah, one man's unwearable is another man's signature scent. To me this is a masterpiece. A 16 hour journey of fragrance art, some may say a lost art. 10/10 for me. Great job Miguel!

It's about time I review Miguel's masterpiece. Man, a while back, I made the mistake of testing this on strip and immediately recoiling and went "nope!" and forgot about it. Now that I'm exploring animalics and getting to know musk better and feel more adventurous, I got a Nishane discovery set and I was looking at Unutumam and thought "you know, let's give this another try" and I dove in with an open mind, sprayed myself generously and here's my assessment of that experience. Oh my god. This is so different. As previous reviewer thnthrn so justly said, please do not use a strip or get an atomizer/cap sniff. You will not understand it and very possibly hate it and dismiss it as a chaotic mess (the same could be said of the sadly often misunderstood Afrika-Olifant which I also love). Right from the get go, yes, it is slightly challenging but musk works in a way that it cold it often can seem unpleasant but it blooms as your skin warms it up. This is what happens here. As soon as my skins warms it up, Unutumam blooms and unfolds in a magical way. What seemed like chaos now aligns. The castoreum is obviously quite apparent here and permeates through the whole experience which is what many might be challenged with but as my skins warms up the formula, herbs start to radiate, first a slightly menthol-ish mint and juniper giving it a suddenly outburst of freshness and then morph into savory vibes from the other herbs, namely rosemary and oregano. It turns into a very warm, cozy experience. Some will say it's "manly" and I agree in part. Yes, you have to assume this, you have to wear it with confidence but if you do, it can be quite wearable. Someone commented earlier that I smell like a soup her mother used to make. Some might think that's an insult but in perspective, if you bring nostalgia and positive memories, that's far from negative. For the record, it does remind me of a dish my dad used to make (it's a stew with vegetables and a lot of savory herbs) and that's probably why I feel so comfortable with it. Make of that what you will. I personally think Miguel made a perfume that's challenging, nostalgic and cozy all at once. Unutumam transcends perfume and brings more than just "smelling good". It stirs up happy memories in me. Bravo!

I knew it wouldn't be something I could wear, but that was the exercise’ Miguel Matos Unutamam created by Miguel Matos for Nishane is unlike anything I have ever smelt before. The fragrance has been described by some as offensive, yet it has also been hailed as masterpiece in perfumery. I read a lot about this fragrance before I decided to blind buy it, so I had a good idea what I was about to experience... Fortunately, I am in the category that hails this a bonafide masterpiece. Yes, the opening of this fragrance is offensive but never dismiss a fragrance on first sniff. If you happen to be the adventurous type of person in fragrances, you are in for a huge treat with this one. This is a fragrance that has no room for apologies, translate the name to English and it means ‘I can’t forget’ and trust me you will never forget the intensity or smell of this fragrance ever! Thank God for perfumers like Miguel Matos who are ready to delve into a no boundaries territory and give fragrance enthusiasts something to look forward to in a fragrance world where something edgy seems to attract a lot of negative comments. I predict that this will be a fragrance that will be sought after by serious collectors. The 30ml bottle will last a lifetime as you just need one drop of this fragrance on each arm. It will fill a room. The opening is a very strong animalic herbal note, it almost smells like wood varnish, but after a few minutes other notes start to open and I could smell the mint, the oregano and the caramel sweetness amped with a bit of smoke in the dry down. On skin and paper, it also smells a bit different, on paper I can detect a touch of anise which I would love to smell on my skin. I am positively sure that there are many other quality ingredients in this fragrance that I have yet to discover by time. I will end this review by saying that somebody who smelled this on me said I smelt bad only to do a complete u turn after an hour and complimenting me on how great I smell. Patience is the keyword to this hidden masterpiece.

Allow me to preface this by saying that Unutamam is so concentrated that its a fragrance that must be smelled in the air. Upon my initial spray of Unutamam I made the mistake of bringing the back of my hand up to my nose. It's opening notes of Mint, Rosemary, & Juniper literally smelled like Turpentine. And as it began to dry down I smelled nuances of black vinyl & brand new tires. But when I waved my hand back & forth through the air & allowed this fragrance to waft I then smelled Mint Tea with a nice dose of earthiness from Patchouli. As the fragrance wore on further I began to pick up on Castoreum. It was in that moment when Unutamam smelled like a cup of earthy, green, Mint Tea sitting next to a very expensive black leather briefcase. There is a sweetness from the notes of Amber & Caramel here. But it doesnt smell like either. They combine & create a nuance that smells like spilled Whiskey that dried. I find the note of Patchouli to be a life saver for this fragrance because its showing all of its facets. 20 minutes into this fragrance the Patchouli starts showing its spice. Which smells like a very subtle Cinnamon. Its here where Unutamam becomes King, & smells of a pair of Rich Black Leather Gloves with Spiced Whiskey spilled on them. On the other hand this fragrance smells industrial. Like the essence of soldering tools, leather aprons, grinding metal gears & the lingering scent of toxic black smoke plumes. For me Unutamam conjures images of the Black Leather Gloves worn by Jack The Ripper on the dark foggy streets of Victorian London. In the very dry down of this fragrance is where I pick up on the subtle floral notes of Lavender, Jasmine & Carnation that were weighed down by Unutamam's heavy opening. Unutamam is without a doubt the most concentrated fragrance I own, & needs 20 to 30 mintutes to develop on skin before it can be appreciated. Is Unutamam unwearable ? Well, thats up to you.

Big masculine energy. Confident, daring, bold, sexy, composed, complex. And loud, pushing the limits. One spray on the upper chest is all you need for an average day. Maybe one on the neck, too, if you're trying to make a statement. Honestly the notes listed here are some of the most accurate notes I've ever seen listed for a fragrance. And they're all so well-balanced, I truly can make each of them out at some point. Top (0-60 min) Screams of liquorice and herbs. An earthy, musky, complex barbershop scent. Personally the rosemary is the strongest for me, and it's not culinary or savory at all, thankfully. Middle (60min-8hr) This is the most animalic and difficult part of the fragrance. The leathery, black musky scent from the castoreum is the strongest note when you get your nose close to the skin, and it's intoxicating. But the mint, amber, carnation and labdanum project more than the castoreum, and present a much more palatable, refreshing composition to passersby. However, if you heat up and sweat during this part of the development, the animalics get pungent and potentially offensive. End (6hr-15hr) The caramel and florals really shine here, giving everything a dark and mild sweetness that really rounds out all the lingering notes in the most delicious way possible. Once again, super well-balanced and consistent. Just not suitable for hot weather or exercise. I did one spray on the upper chest at around 9 AM, and then wore a tank to the gym at 3 PM, and my partner told me that I was leaving a dark musky smell everywhere I went. It's that strong. Either way, we both love it.

In fact, many criticize it, but in my personal opinion, it is just talk and not a real-life experience. I have tried it, it takes you on a journey in nature full of beauty, after the first spray you will feel the scent of mint mixed with rosemary strongly exceeding all limits in a wonderful and non-disturbing way and lavender, but in reality it is of high quality, not similar to any scent in any other perfume, a black scent with very high quality ingredients that spread strongly in the place and establish your presence and overwhelm other perfumes beautifully, and after half an hour the scent of mint begins to diminish a little to merge with jasmine, oregano, patchouli and carnation flower, it remains for about 4 more hours, then the scent of labdanum begins to spread with the scent of beaver, but in a beautiful way, it was a beaver that came out of the water clean after a refreshing bath, which reduces its intensity and increases its beauty. Caramel smells like the scent of sugar that burns a little, I do not know how to describe it, as I have smelled Thomas Kasmala perfume and others, but this perfume is not like any of them, its ingredients are of high quality and special beauty. Then it continues with this beautiful scent for more than 12 hours. Its spread is high and you may receive a lot of compliments that it is not animalic in any way, but rather in a beautiful and amazing way. *In fact, I smelled a beautiful scent that is not present in the notes, and it is like the scent of high-quality melting wax. It may remind you of classic, upscale movies. My rate 9.5/10

This one is a 😍 '5 face' but to the average nose or someone new to perfume this smell like a '3 face' or lower. Around aug 2023 i first smelled this it was horrendous but interesting and high quality. It smelled like halitosis with herbs freshness and a little sweetness. But today 23FEB2024, still smell halitotic but I understand this perfume and its beauty. After smelling many other perfumes and notes i get it. Castoreum strong barnyard stinch from beginning to end with herbs mint and a little sweetness. I love animalics! As this dry down the other notes start to shine thru like the moss caramel labdanum amber. Mint add fresh and tiny sweetness that come out more in dry down. Oregano rosemary mint add fresh and camphor. Fresh bittersweet minty green come out more in dry down. I dont get the floral yet. Juniper add to fresh crisp. Juniper sweetness come out more in dry down. I think the patchouli add to earthiness greeness and damp woodiness basically foliage vibe. Maybe the florals and juniper is making the castoreum clean and fresh as possible. The castoreum eventually turn into a clean leather. A funky clean leather. My nose get after effects of slight pickle which mean the florals are soapy but maybe indolic. Maybe thats why at the moment I perceive halitotic smell; its because the indolic florals and castoreum clashing in my nose. Two super potent smells on their own. You only need one spray. Two sprays max. This stuff strong. Unutamum is a strong green fragrance perfect for all day outdoors and outdoor events.

Unutamam, composed by Matos, stands as a strong candidate for the perfumer’s masterpiece. While a large portion of Miguelito's perfumes are close to being unwearable statement pieces or a bit too retro-avantgarde, this is it: a mature convergence of concept, power and wearability. The first time you wear it, it feels like being at the front row of a Ryosuke Kiyasu "concert"... an intense, singular, and immediate experience that might stun you. The fragrance's complexity is its defining feature, marked by multiple distinct development stages. It begins as an aromatic, herbaceous blast: the initial "herbal bomb" is driven by notes of lavender, rosemary, mint, and juniper. This sharp and challenging opening quickly melts into an animalic core. Here, castoreum and labdanum bring together a smoky, leathery, and rugged dimension, moving the scent from green garden toward the "industrial stink". Finally, the dry-down settles into a resinous warmth, smoothing the edges with a pronounced caramelly dry-down and oakmoss. Unutamam behaves like Ryosuke's sweat, as its concentration ensures strong longevity (well beyond 12h on skin) and substantial projection for at least 3-4 hours. As Jesus Christ has been previously summoned to describe this scent, it is correct to think that Matos composed an intentionally intense experience, designed to be unforgettable, living up to its Turkish name, which means "I cannot forget."

I was apprehensive to spray this beast but it turned out way more polite than I had imagined. I even dared spray a second time. Dark greens from the beginning, minty but even more so camphorous and turpentine-y. Some leather, reminiscent of petroleum but never too synthetic, too cloying or anything remotely unpleasant. Second time around I got something savoury-sweet, then smoky-sweet, burnt sugar-like and with loads of herbs, unironically savoury and/or oregano which hint at dried down sweat after hard manual labour but never dirty. Texture-wise I imagine vanta black coarse-surfaced mineral, so dark, yet shimmering. A real heavy-handed perfume. Love it! Update: started picking out some ashiness, like cigarette smell after a party. Not really a detriment, makes it even more rugged and proves the ever-changing perception of a masterfully crafted composition. Juice is as dark green as is the smell so careful around clothes. Also, people seem to like it, comparing it to a pine tree but be careful with spraying more than once if in public. Baby sprays is the way. Second fkn update of the day, cause this thing keeps on changing on me: After the 8h mark it turned into such a smooth leather smell with just a little aromatic edge left over and resembles something like Merchant of Venice’s Craquele if it were manlier. Wow, this takes it as the most dynamic and creative perfume I own.

Fragrant, aromatic, pungent, unapologetic, powerhouse, stoic. Those are words that immediately come to mind when I think of this incredibly high quality yet equally different take on the Fougere. This won't be for everyone. You might even say that it won't be for most, but those who are drawn to it will love it for all that it is. To my nose, on my first full wearing (and only sprayed 15-20 minutes ago), this is kind of like a very Niche, ultra high quality take on Encre Noire. Not saying they smell the same, but I get similarities for sure. Earthy, Green but a dank "conifer needles that have soaked in mud for days" kind of green. Definitely animalic, but nothing fecal to my nose. It also kind of Reminds me of Ormonde Jayne's Ormonde Man, just from the dirty green feel, but in a mature, sophisticated & gentlemanly way. So far, imo, Unutamam is the epitome of confidence & no nonsense in a perfume. I'm not saying you won't get compliments wearing it, but it's one of those ones that if you wear it, you don't really care about getting those. I say this because I draw comparisons between people who seek compliments/validation to an uncertainty of themselves & their worth. If you don't have an air about you, one that says you don't rely on others' perceptions of your character & worth, Unutamam should be a big pass, in my very honest opinion.

According to Google, Unutamam means "never forget." Try a sample and you'll understand why. Personally, I love this fragrance! I even bought a full bottle almost immediately after trying the sample. It can be had for a good price on Aura. This fragrance will 100% offend the uninitiated or those who mainly collect/wear mass appealing blue style fragrances. Also, just as a warning, Unutamam is incredibly powerful. I learned this the hard way after spraying 3 full sprays before work and I gave myself a headache. I recommend a single spray on a cold night. Even just a small spritz from the 1.5ml sample can fill my bedroom. As for the smell, you'll immediately notice the mint and oregano in the opening. It's probably the most striking part of this fragrance since oregano isn't used very often. These two notes are blended nicely with the lavender, juniper, and rosemary. Gives the fragrance a fougere vibe. It later dries down to a sweet animalic base with the caramel and oakmoss. I read a review once that said Unutamam reminded them of used mint dental floss. I sort of see where they're coming from. But don't let that scare you! Unutamam is very experimental. Wearable art. I probably will never finish the bottle, but I'm glad I own it and will never sell it. I don't think there would be many buyers anyway haha.

ok hear me out...It was not love at first sniff. I've had this sample from last year October and I hated it when I first sprayed. each time I see it in my wardrobe I'd spray it on to remind myself why I don't like it, until last night. I decided to spray it on my inner arm and it gave minty-oregano-rosemary paste and I didn't like it. In the morning I kept smelling this beautiful aroma from my arm and I was like "What is that" Then I remembered I spayed unutamum... I wasted no time I wore this scent to work today and let me say, It's not an office-friendly scent, it got mixed reviews. It's polarizing, to say the least. I'm a female and my female co-worker liked it and thought it was ok, but my male co-worker hated it. so this is not a blind buy but after a few months of trying it I finally get it and it is beautifully blended. These kitchen herbs are strong in the opening and then an hour later they take the back seat and welcome the sweet smooth leather, patchouli, and moss combo and it is elegant and yummy. it is unisex leaning slightly masculine but I will buy it either way for days I wanna feel unique and stand out. Performance: It is a beast, it stays in the room after you've left. I could still smell it in the car when I was coming in from work.

Blind bought. Preliminary thoughts: Yeeeeessss!! Its nothing like Interlude. It's not very animalic. It's beautiful and addictive. On card, it's herby, piney green. On skin, it's lavender and caramel over oakmoss. I love it. Strength = nuclear, indelible, permanent, but not suffocating. That said, I'll be wearing half a spray shared between both wrists and picking the occasion(s) prudently. Update: smells evil on card and thus on clothing, especially over the following days, and will never dissappear. But on skin it's a different story. The issue is the strength, as I can never decide where to spray it. Inner elbow smells best but I don't want it on my clothes, neck is too close to the face and your central nervous system will begin to shut down with the humming potency of the juice. I guess one wrist will do. Two sprays is too much, so one little spray on one wrist then dab together. Edit - having now tried most of the house's scents on my skin more than once, this is the best for me. It's the only one they doesn't seem like it's trying first and foremost to smell expensive and loud for the sake of it, and the only one to show a visionary approach. Bravo, clap clap clap, bravo. I want to try more scents by Miguel Matos.

Love at first sniff! When I put my nose directly on the skin, it's a synthetic mess that smells like burnt tire and yeah I can smell all the listed notes at once which is very overwhelming. However, that's not how people smell you. Just give it a minute and let it develop. In the air, it smells completely different. It actually smells very smooth, uber masculine, sexual, dirty and very, very musky, not floral soapy musk, not animalic deer musk, but more like a natural man musk of some sweaty muscular guy with hairy chest.. or like the scent from a hamper full of several day worn office shirts and trousers that smells like sweat, aftershave, socks that smell like leather shoes, unwashed hair and stale cigarette butts. So no, it's not an elegant or luxurious scent by any means, but it smells like my dad, my uncles, a lot of hard working masculine men I used to know from the time before me. It reminds me of the era when men were men and that was okay. I can wear this everyday, everywhere if I don't overspray it, because it doesn't smell cosmetic/makeup-y. It smells like I'm not wearing anything, not even wearing a deodorant. It's the fresh and sexy amount of masculine stink right before it turns filthy and unhygienic.

A short review: Wow! This is not the usual Nishane, not even the usual high end niche. This, is a miraculously unique smoky fougere! It's an animalic musk (castoreum) in its depths but not in a way that'd repel even those who can't stand the genre. A fresh barbershop with the classic duo of mint+lavande, but with much more character than the typical barbershop. And although it lacks the opening features of a chypre (bergamot), the dry down will hold itself against the bests of them with the usual labdanum+oakmoss being beautifully accompanied by a cast of different flavors. There is a delicate touch of resinous deliciousness among the smokiness of oakmoss. A pinch of "civilized" dirtiness underneath the clean aftershave effect. Everything in Unutamam, from the smokiness, amber and animalics, to the aromatics and sweetness is done tastefully and in harmony. It projects just enough to not make me noseblind, while receiving constant wafts throughout the at least a dozen hours it lasts. (4-5 sample spritzs on chest). I must have this, and of course, love! 🖤

This is great. I understand how it could be described as challenging, but I don't think it is, rather it is surprising and maybe even a little shocking upon first experiencing it. It's so unbelievably powerful that your experience of it will depend heavily on how/where/how much you spray, but the actual scent profile is fantastic. I can't see how anybody would think you smell bad wearing this, but I can absolutely imagine it might grab attention or interest. It's unapologetically green, herbal, bracing, masculine and quite fresh. So clean and green that not even a huge edgy castoreum can throw it off track. Not quite clean/dirty but more like clean/bitter and sharp in its focus, nothing in here is hazy or fluffy or pretty, but it has beauty. I think despite the power of it you could wear it in hot weather and it would slice through it like a mojito does in the high heat. One spray under clothing is usually enough for all day wear but I'm tempted to wear more just because of how good it is. Won't be everyone's cup of tea but that's just fine.

For anyone who likes Black Afgano or Laudano Nero, this fragrance is your new best friend. Similarly dark and herbal but in a different way. There is comforting lavender here alongside oregano and other comforting herbs. They are all blanketed under a mysterious musky smoky smell. Like these herbs have been toastedon the outside but remain green on the inside. This is mysterious, enigmatic, masculine, sexy and bold. It hasn't caught a lot of hype either. It feels like you're wearing a hidden gem because you are. If you dress in black jeans, a black shirt and a black leather jacket with this fragrance on, people will be drawn toward you. They will want to unravel the mystery. They will understand that you're a creative type immediately. I think its a darker, smokier, more brazen take on the Interlude Man DNA and I hope they start selling it in 100ml bottles. It is too special to be a one off experiment that is discontinued quietly.

Unutamam is a woody/animalic chypre where sweetnotes are practically non-existent. Unutamam is 100 percent masculine; it smells of pure wilderness. The first hour has you in the middle of a pine forest with the smell of last night's camp fire adding it's own fumes to the dense pine tree aromas, so unless your destination is outdoors with strong breezes blowing, more than two sprays maybe too much. After the first hour the perfume becomes smoother and easier on the nose, now you are near a pine forest and not in it, here the sweeter notes refrain from stealing the show and remain team players to drive the wood, castoreum and bitter herb aromas to a wonderful sophisticated place. Unutamam is great for evenings out, it is warm, sexy and seductive and will be appreciated by mature, passionate and confident people. scent - 10/10 projection - moderate sillage - moderate longevity - 7 to 10 hours

Funny enough, this is the first fragrance I've ever bought that wasn't a sample vial or just a whiff from a sample at Macy's. My journey into the world of fragrance came from a desire for originality, almost a desire to wear fragrances without others knowing I was wearing it, but conscious of a certain vibe or aura. This filled all the weird area's of criteria I was trying to fill. I see this fragrance getting a lot of shit, but when I've tested or smelled all the other fragrances every influencer or fan gives a 100/10, it just smells too plain, or common. There really is something here, I honest to god can't describe it. If you want to smell like you were just rolling around in a mossy pile of wet dirt (I mean that in the most enjoyable and beautiful way) you will like this. I truly feel like this is a one of a kind, and that nothing else will be similar.

This is a very dark ride. On first sniff, I smelled bad breath and B.O. That went away within 5 minutes. Then the juniper came in and I was like "hold on now, this is getting better". And then it unfolded like an olfactory tapestry ... If you're the type to only judge a parfum by it's opening, you're probably going to hate this fragrance. But if you allow it to open up you're going to be rewarded with one of the deepest, best performing, dynamic scents you've ever smelled. If not the most pleasing. Unutamam is daring, and perhaps brilliant. Perfume as art. But it will absolutely not suit everyone. The oregano can be overwhelming sometimes. Don't spray this and put your nose on it. It will probably repulse you. But, in the air, Unutamam is really good! Don't smell this on a test strip and think you have it figured out! It takes some time to develop.

Unutamam is definitely not for beginners, and it will only appeal to a very particular niche. I personally love this fragrance, while many I know recoil at their first whiff of this. This is unapologetically masculine; perhaps, the most masculine fragrance in this millennium thus far. This initial spray is a blast of medicinal mint and oregano with a heavy dose of castoreum. There are hints of florals (jasmine and carnation) but they are more of a supporting aroma. There's a smokiness that reminds me of pure pine tar throughout the life of the fragrance. In the dry down, it sweetens up a tad due to the caramel, and I get tons of labdanum which has an animalic, leathery nuance. To summarize to accords: herbs, smoke, castoreum, gunpowder, pine tar, and leather Unutamam is for a badass in a black leather jacket and not for metrosexual soy boys

Some say it's awful, some say it's incredible...who cares? To me this is magical, totally wearable, opening is gorgeous, herbal, minty...fresh, but I get no lavander though...it's mostly mint and rosemary. After a couple of minutes you start getting the oregano and a slight rubbery feel with the castoreum already showing together with a more heady touch from the jasmine, it's amazing! The drydown is heavenly, sweet castoreum with a mossy vibe that surprisingly keeps some freshness from the mint. This is pure artistic perfumery, hands down the best from Nishane paired with Afrika Olifant. I love you Miguel, thank you for this masterpiece. The definition of Beast Mode! My only advice: Be careful. PS: The current formulation of Interlude is nothing compared to this, there's no resemblance whatsoever.

Unutamam, an underrated and less talked about fragrance of Nishane. This opens with a blast of aromatic pine, rosemary and oregano. The spicy floral heart of jasmine and carnation starts to open up at around 2 hour mark but the aromatic component is still present through out the development of the fragrance. The dry down is the most amazing part in which caramel is intertwined with oakmoss against a background of animalic leather. However, the animalic aspect is not overtly strong as others have suggested. The projection and longevity is exceptional, two sprays is all I needed. My only complaint is that Unutamam only comes in a 30 mL bottle, I’d gladly buy a 100 mL bottle of this. Props to Miguel Matos for creating such a unique and beautiful fragrance.

I finally had the chance to try this wonderful scent in the Paris boutique. Upon spraying on a tester strip, the very friendly Nishane employee almost immediately smelled it from across the store. He was initially amazed that me and my girlfriend both like the scent, as according to him, "many people just think it smells awful". After a long conversation, we left with a free sample and I ordered myself a full bottle a little while later. Great, unique fragrance that is extremely potent. I love the minty opening which then explodes with all the strong ingredients. I think my 30ml bottle will outlast me, as I'll only be able to wear this at home. NOT blind buy safe and definitely not safe for the office.

This will be my second review of this fragrance. While I love it, I must admit you’ll be hard pressed to find situations in which to don it. A 30ml will indeed last a lifetime. Today as I’m doing up my tie to prepare to bury my mother and say goodbye for the last time I am grateful that this is in my collection. There is no other perfume from my 150 or so that I even considered over this. The mood calls for this perfume not the other way around. I want to be around my loved ones, yet I wish to be left alone. Part of me is happy my mother no longer suffers while another part of me is dark and wants others to feel the pain. For the most part, Unutamam. I never want to forget.

My initial impression was skewed by my expectations. Opening note of a sweet synthetic almost medicinal explosion, not initially pleasant. Biting and sharp with notes of lavender and mint lurking in the background but all this on a platform of animalic power! It finally settled into a strong yet sweet aromatic caramelesque and leather aura on the skin with a pulsing silage. Probably best in fall and early spring. Describing this as “unique” would be an understatement. Mind blowing performance that lasts all day. It seems to pulse as you move around, emitting waves of powerful scent. Would love to know if any others had a similar experience. Enjoy !

I was in a fragrance shop when a salesman spray it on a strip and ask me to try it. just a whiff in the air and I was transported to the early winters of my childhood in Lahore. Unutamam is a very peculiar scent. very eccentric, very absurd but that's the beauty of this juice. it is loud but not a compliment getter but individuals who wear this is definitely not looking for validation from peers. This one is definitely a Winter fragrance. one spray around the neck and you are good to go. do not overspray. Unutamam means "I won't forget".

I totally agree that this reminds of Caron Yatagan. But only the opening. Than on the drydown it is a combination of dior eau savauge parfum & mixed with Yatagan. Those who like the old gentelman fragrances like Anteus, pour monsieur from Chanel Bel-ami, Equipage from Hermes, givenchy gentleman, Boss Number One from Hugo Boss, Zino from davidoff, Polo Green, Aramis, Azaro por homme, Santos from Cartier, boucheron pour homme etc.... most probably will like it as well. Not saying that is similar to them, its within the same genre.

I really love this fragrance. It was a blind buy, but worth the risk. It is earthy, masculine, animalistic, smoky, dirty and leathery. I can understand why this may not be everyone’s cup of tea by this really works well for me. The initial whiff may be somewhat pungent and off putting but after about 5 minutes, it begins to tantalise the senses. Perfect for autumn and winter wear, and maybe even during spring. Superb dry down. It is also ideal for layering over flowery or overwhelming vanilla scents. Fantastic!!! Rating: 8.5/10

Not super versed in masculine fragrances from the 70s and 80s, but what I have smelled definitely exists inside this scent. It's a great scent. Not a compliment getter. Very personal smell (that is very not personal in its projection). I think I am in love. Caron's Yatagan must have been an inspiration for this. They smell very similar at certain points though all the notes are amped up in this one. Recommend at least a sample. Very addictive smell. Hard to wear, but I love it.

I received this as a gift. Its a fantastic gift. This is my third from Miguel Matos. Hopefully I can grab more in the future. Yes, its animalic. Animalic done well. For dark and brooding scents. This is a good one. When you want to just sit in your "feels". This is great. But you need to be ok with oregano. I like Akelarre better. But so glad to have this in my collection. Not an everywhere or everyday fragrance. Strong performance. Unapologetic. Just try it.

This is so ridiculously good! My first Nishane, and I am sure it won’t be the last. Green, mossy, spicy, smokey. What a wonderful experience. Absolutely superb. If you are a girly girl - this won’t be a good match for you. In case you prefer more woody, aromatic, spicy stuff and are not afraid to smell like herbs smoked in a turf house - give it a try.

Love the opening and the evolution on this fragrance The opening is minty ,80s Fougere vibe with a lot of castoreum While the openings is fading this fragrances became to a dark green, animalistic with a small amount of sweetness from the caramel. I really love it it’s wearable for sure and this pulled me 3 compliments so far.

My 10 year old daughter who knows my craze for perfumes smelled me from 20 feet away.... "What's that smell? it's like cow dung Perfume!, Yuk, it's awful" and she covers her face with a pillow.... Settles into deep oily crushed-jasmine flowers. I think this is fantastic. A most memorable and an authentic creation.

Omg, I love this one so much!! I am a huge fan of this brand, and I have several of their offerings. I think this one may be my favorite. There is something about it that reminds me of childhood. Very unique camphor animalic, the contrast between the filthy animal musk notes and the sterile, medicinal herbal notes clashing with each other is a very unique olfactory experience and works very well. I get mostly oregano, mint, tree sap, Vicks VapoRub, burning resins and of course raw, sweaty animal musk.

Amazing fragrance. So unique and robust. Its sad that it comes in a tiny expensive bottle. If you love animalic ouds and leathers you will love this. Its so unique. To me its like a hybrid between Amouage Epic and Interlude with added mint. The juise is super dark in the blotter.

Challenging for sure but fantastic. It was a blind buy for me but I don't regret it. One of the boldest fragrances in my collection and I have a few for sure. It's like smoldering leather with some animalic nuances. I don't get any florals but maybe it's just me. 10/10

Don’t smell it up close - it’s bitter, a bit camphoric and animalic. Smell its trail in the air - it’s a soft melange of rosemary and mint tea with a soft natural and addictive sweetness. Beautiful!

It does smell like burning tires - and I love it. It's very bold. Uniqueness is off the charts. For enthusiasts only, but this is a masterpiece, and I don't say it lightly.

A dude with a big beard doing barbell shoulder presses while riding a Harley. You only need, at max, two sprays. My sample may last awhile but I plan on buying a bottle.

Smells like Hercules and a smelly black bear got in a fight to the death over a campfire and you just walked up and found them both lying dead. Kinda nice tho.

Much more wearable than i anticipated. Some sort of cool minty liquor comes to mind. Very happy with my first Nishane ,it's truly an olfactive Behemoth.

Decant into a roller and dab minimally on pulse points, otherwise it's too much, but with this minimalist approach it's phenomenal. You're welcome.
