1001 Eau de Parfum was launched in 2017, following the Premium Collection, which was created in 2014 with the launch of Rudis, and followed by Malia, in 2015. Initially, the golden bottle was packaged by the leather cartridge, but currently, the perfume is listed (on the official website) as part of the Exceptional Edition collection, whose fragrances are sold in Extract concentration. 1001 Eau de Parfum is dedicated to Scheherazade, who managed to free herself from death by telling more than a thousand stories (1001 Nights), which fascinated several generations around the world, immortalizing characters and giving great power to the female narrative. But the creative concept didn't come by chance. During her Arabic studies at L'Ambere University, Stefania Giannino – Creative Director and founder of Nobile1942 – had access to the book in its original language and this was the first step towards creating a new project. The fragrance of 1001 Eau de Parfum is officially classified as oriental-spicy and was created by perfumer Lucca Maffei. It has top notes of bergamot, red tea, ginger, elemi, and pink pepper; Heart notes of papyrus, Turkish rose, iris, and absolutes of jasmine and turmeric; Base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and musk. The key ingredient is papyrus, known as the precursor to paper in antiquity (highlighted on the metalized bottle label). In perfumery, Nagarmotha (also known as Cypriol) is normally used, which is from the Cyperus family, as well as papyrus, and has a strong floral and leathery scent. Another important detail during the creative process was to think about a dry down with a leathery aspect since the papyrus were stored in leather tubes called “capse”. On my skin, 1001 Eau de Parfum is a treat! It's the kind of fragrance that, for me, perfectly illustrates the Niche Perfumery. To improve it, it portrays the olfactory path of Arab perfumes, with that combo of roses and saffron that I like so much. I am in my natural habitat! That said, it's clear that it's not quite a different fragrance from others I've known. But it is different from what, until then, already existed in the portfolio of this Italian House. However, it had a small adjustment that makes all the difference in the result and in the way it evolves on the skin. This is because the dry aspect of the turmeric, which tends to gain volume over time, has gained a smoothness here, thanks to the notes of tea and elemi resin. 1001 Eau de Parfum opens hot and fresh, showing spiciest facets in a few seconds. Then, the jasmine dominates the other flowers – including the strong Turkish rose – and brings a more delicate heart, thought to represent the smooth and convincing voice of that storyteller. A slightly earthy accord appears, revealing the beauty of turmeric and, above all, the elegance of the iris. Drying moves towards a creamier side, in which sandalwood and patchouli reign, while the nose insists on signaling nuances of leather, labdanum, and incense, although these are not part of the composition. The beauty of this fragrance lies in showing that not every representation of the Orient needs to be intense and dominant as if you were pushed into the spice market. Here, we have words whispered in the ear that last for many hours and exude without exaggeration. 1001 Eau de Parfum is unisex, but it has a feminine soul. Its fragrance is Arabic in appearance, but it was raised and dressed by Italians.

To me, it's primarily a masculine perfume, with warm, spicy, and animalistic notes that seem to capture the essence of the Orient in every spray. The opening is bold and bright, with a mix of fresh spices like elemi, ginger, and pink pepper blending with the juiciness of Red tea. Even though "1001" carries a decidedly masculine character, it can be worn and appreciated by bold and timeless women who are drawn to its depth and complexity. The heart of the fragrance unveils a carnal Turkish rose, warmed by the absolute of Curcuma and Saffron, evoking the intense color of gold. The base of patchouli, soft woods, and voluptuous amber amplifies the mysterious character of this fragrance. A real beauty: this is primarily a gingery, dense Turkish rose, with all kinds of lovely notes you often find in Middle Eastern perfumes (papyrus, incense, elemi, turmeric, sandalwood, and saffron), but fortunately without oud, which just completely overwhelms so many rose fragrances that are (or try to be) Middle Eastern. This is exceptionally elegant and pretty, and very unisex, and one of the nicest rose fragrances I've ever tried. Its complexity makes it worthy of its name (which evokes the "1001 Nights").

#736 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a sample sprayette and just ordered a full bottle from Fragrancebuy.ca. Now this is a scent definitely worth owning. Delicious with solid longevity and projection. If your preferences run to scents like Amouage Interlude Black Iris and Prada Amber Pour Homme you'll definitely want this scent on your shelf. Wouldn't be office wear for me, but a go-to for date night.

My favorite rich deep dark Winter scent.

Nobile 1942’s artistic director, Stefania Giannino, came across the original Arabic text of One Thousand and One Nights while studying Arabic, and that became the inspiration for this fragrance. My first impression was that it doesn’t smell “Oriental” in the usual sense at all. The opening is built around red tea, ginger, pink pepper, and incense. The first spray feels clean and cool with a gentle spice—neither sweet nor sharp. The ginger isn’t the kind of spiciness you associate with cooking; it feels more like a quiet warmth rising from the skin. The red tea isn’t sweetened and isn’t strong either—it’s closer to the moment when you lean over a tin of loose tea leaves and take a deep breath. Some reviews mention a hint of toothpaste or mint. In reality it’s more the coolness created by citrus and red tea together, giving the scent a clear, almost awakening quality. The fragrance quickly moves into the heart. The rose here is dry rather than sweet or creamy, nothing like the soft, powdery pink style often associated with French rose perfumes. Instead it feels more austere, intertwined with papyrus and turmeric, giving the rose a slightly exotic character. Turmeric is a particularly interesting touch. It doesn’t have the oily richness of curry, nor the heavy presence of kitchen spices. Together with saffron, it creates a dry, golden warmth, like sunlight warming the skin. Papyrus works almost like parchment beneath everything, holding the structure together. In the drydown, clean sandalwood and incense slowly unfold, joined by carefully measured touches of patchouli and amber. It isn’t a sweet, earthy vetiver base, nor the dark, humid atmosphere often created by patchouli. Instead the effect is soft, slightly powdery, and warm. The “animalic” aspect is very restrained—just a faint suggestion of warm skin, something very close to natural body scent. Overall, 1001 is very different from many perfumes labeled as oriental, which often lean toward richness and sweetness or overt exoticism. This one feels quiet and slow in the way it expresses itself. Some people even describe it as cold, perhaps because there is almost no sweetness at all.

There is almost a menthol type opening...it's the citrusy tea...I can see why some think this leans masculine. Like a summery, light, citrus fresh and aromatic perfume. No vanilla...no patchouli...and, although it lists many florals, this isn't a floral perfume by any stretch of the imagination. I do detect a soft sandalwood but mostly the citrusy tea with aromatics like papyrus, turmeric pepper, saffron...a touch of rose.. I could swear I smell lavender even though it isn't listed. I like it but for summer, not winter. Would I buy again? I don't think so at this point .But, I will enjoy wearing it in the warmer weather. NOTE- the performance is poor, even though it's listed as an extrait.. a skin scent within 20 minutes. A beautiful one, but too intimate too quickly for the price. It's lovely in the drydown..but the performance is just abysmal.What a shame..

This stuff is pretty amazing. It's definitely a winter warmer kind of scent, I got a lot of the sandalwood pepper and papyrus upon first spray. Ginger (for me) wasn't super dominant, or at least not in the fresh cut kind of way. Leaning on masculine, nice and spicy, has potential to make my buy list! At home testing: This is like fancy nights. But way better with more fresh tumeric and spicy peppercorns. Drydown a beautiful iris powdery musky floral that morphs into a soft tea, wow the tea note is super nicely portrayed on the drydown.

I like this a lot but I think 1001 would wear better on a man—and I usually steer clear of gendering perfume. On my skin, I get the cold comment from another reviewer (see below) but there’s also this interesting, pretty clean yet masculine rose note. With all the different spices, including ginger, saffron, and turmeric— I’m surprised that this doesn’t smell like an exotic kitchen. For me personally, a pass, but on the right person, a swoon worthy scent

Has a similar (not the same) but a similar profile to PDM Oajan. I can most definitely smell Oajan aroma chemicals in this but this a smoother.... This has a much more toned down cinnamon note that is in Oajan and that was cloying in the PDM fragrance for me personally. This is smooth and unisex. Def a cold theater fragrance but not bad.

This is pretty "cold" perfume, so probably best wear spring and summer time so it can have a nice balance with the hot weather. Leaning masculine. If you`re looking for cosy - this is not it. Wearing this makes me feel a bit detached so could be good to wear when you want to cool off mentally:). In general not a huge fun of this but will continue wearing it and see if there is time and occasion when this fits perfectly.

Tumiric ginger on bed of sour tea. At first I couldn't recognise the tumiric till I saw the notes! As I normally white my reviews according to what I sniff before I see the notes. However, the first spray was kind of interesting as I could smell the 1001 nights somehow with that Arabian Sahara breeze as the ginger lime mix made sort of sapphron like smell with bit of tumiric and doses of tea. I can't really sniff niteher the Turkish roses nor the pink pepper and not even the vanilla as the Turkish rose is known for its sweetened taste and in here, there is no sweet and not even hints and at the same time it's not that spicy. Most probably I may can categorize it within tea category but not much tea are there! as the colder it goes the more confusing it gets! all the notes are there and at the same doses in away that i cant define which is conquering what! It's not balanced but kind of a fading chaos! It almost vanishes but before it clears out it turns into an aqua blend! Sort of metallic but mostly aqua! And I have absolutely no idea what went wrong! I'll try it again some other time and I hope it's not what I think! Edit (8th Aug 2017) No not really, the turmeric, and ginger mix making this fragrance smell like a spice room rather than 1001 Arabian nights!

Ginger and turmeric citrus fizz. Oh no - it smells like the taste you get in your mouth if you accidentally eat soap (I don’t make a habit of doing this). I can’t get past the ultra realistic turmeric and fizzy ginger combo. I like these aromas in my food, not on my skin.

1001 is a masterpiece of perfumery. It tracks very old world classic, but in a very, very good way. Nobile 1942 is one of my favorite houses due to their use of exquisite essential oils and thoughtful blending of notes. I’d go so far as to say you cannot find a more pleasing rose/tea anywhere. It is a cozy and warm scent (& disagree w/other comment abt it being a “cold” frag). To me it leans more feminine but def unisex. I’m very particular in my curation of fragrances these days as my wallet won’t abide blind buys. If you like spicy, slightly floriental scents I think you will love it! Merry Christmas!

I smell sandalwood, rose, oud, and incense in here. It smells quite similar to Jo Malone Cologne intense Velvet Rose and Oud after dry down in my opinion. Beautiful and sophisticated, probably more suitable for colder days because it’s a warm sweet scent, but I’d wear it whenever I feel like. I would recommend it for people 35+ just like for Jo Malone’s Intense collection.

Spicy almost animalic rose. When I say spicy - I mean like peppery red berries. Seems unisex to me. Royal vibes. Kind of reminds me of Serge Lutens La Couche du Diable and it looks like they have the saffron and rose in common. I see another reviewer mentioning tea - and then I realize this also smells like Le Labo The Noir.

Earthy, Spicy Ginger that draws you in wanting more. Delicate masculine just soft enough to draw you in with its subtle seduction. Perfect for a winter night sitting by a fireplace giving into temptation.
