A' Grazia

Let me start by saying that I found the idea of giving voice through a fragrance to a fundamental tradition of Naples, which has great relevance in Neapolitan culture, fascinating. Close your eyes and travel with this very special olfactory composition. On my skin, a metallic, smoky opening makes me think of the moment of waiting for the miracle of San Gennaro, a very important moment, in which so much hope, so many expectations are placed. At one point, a velvety rose emerges, almost as if it were a miracle, a symbol of beauty and positivity. A' Grazia communicated so much to me, a wonderfully evocative fragrance.

Another gem from Nobile 1942. A grown-up invention for sure. Spicy and a tad bitter in a good way, with a warm leathery note running through it from top to bottom. Longevity and trail are modest but I'm just as happy with a deft woodwind section as I might sometimes otherwise be with the full orchestra.

The very first sprays are for me combination of dark chocolate (which honestly speaking smells bitter and a bit sour?), bergamot, davana and very slight velvet rose accord (like a very very light touch of MFK Oud Satin rose accord). Quite shortly afterwards, leathery-vanillic tones are prominent yet it misses a sillage, it is a more of a skin scent. I would say it is a perfectly unisex fragrance, leaning a bit more towards a masculine side and has a typical church smell of olibanum, wooden benches. Sweetness comes from raspberry & vanilla, make it possible to wear also for more feminine seeking perfume lovers (and also make it more office/day friendly). My main problem is that comparing to some similar notes in my collection, this perfumes does not have a very strong sillage and longevity - on me it's rather moderate. Nothing special if we take into account church inspired fragrances but still not a mainstream and quite poetic with a whole story behind. It smells beautifully on a rainy cosy day.

This perfume is for those who like "smokey leathers." Smokey Cypriol and bitter Davana are in abundance here; the fruitiness is kept to a minimum, and is in the background, just to give some balance. The overall scent profile is a smokey, dry(ish) leather. Not a safe blind buy, unless you like things like Leatherize from DS & DURGA, or those Middle Eastern smokey leather perfume but want something less aggressive, more balanced and wearable. It's "OK".
