EN Although my collection already included ten perfumery masterpieces from Nobile 1942, I discovered Il Giardino Delle Delizie after reading Christian Provenzano’s biography, and I immediately understood that behind this fragrance there was a very cohesive and expressive creative world. In the end, I did something I usually try to avoid: I bought it blind. And I have to say, it turned out to be one of those rare blind buys that make you realize intuition really can be trusted. From the very beginning of its development, I was struck by the contrast between its fruity-creamy side and the warmer, spicier, more sensual side of the composition: the plum is clearly noticeable, the almond milk gives the fragrance a soft roundness, while davana and Indian saffron add a more original, less obvious accent — this is no longer just a “pleasant little perfume.” Then its floral heart gradually unfolds — rich, yet absolutely never heavy: what stands out most vividly is the enveloping tuberose, nuanced by osmanthus, jasmine sambac, rose, and immortelle. It is a dense, sensual fragrance with an almost dreamlike character, and yet it remains consistently elegant. It is impossible not to notice the charm of this perfume’s base: suede, benzoin, styrax, amber, musk, myrrh, iris, and Kashmir wood create a soft, resinous, slightly powdery foundation with a genuine sensuality that never turns into anything intrusive or overly intense. On the skin, this is a fragrance with character, with color, with imagination. It does not come across as a composition created for the sake of fashion or easy approval: it has a clear identity of its own, an almost baroque aesthetic, but presented with balance and taste. More than anything, this is what I would highlight: it is not banal, not flat, and not ingratiating. It has a recognizable signature and a structure that makes it feel alive, multifaceted, and constantly evolving. At certain moments it feels almost gourmand, at others floral, and then it becomes ambery and almost tactile. This is one of those fragrances that do more than simply smell pleasant — they create an atmosphere. For me, this was truly a very successful purchase, and today I can say without exaggeration that it is one of the most delightful perfume surprises I have experienced in a long time. _______ IT Nonostante nella mia collezione ci fossero già dieci capolavori di Nobile 1942, ho scoperto Il Giardino Delle Delizie leggendo la biografia di Christian Provenzano, e ho capito subito che dietro questa fragranza c’era un universo creativo molto coerente ed espressivo. Alla fine ho fatto qualcosa che di solito cerco di evitare: l’ho acquistato alla cieca. E devo dire che si è rivelato uno di quei rari blind buy che ti fanno capire che dell’intuito ci si può davvero fidare. Fin dalle prime fasi della sua evoluzione mi ha colpito il contrasto tra il lato fruttato-cremoso e quello più caldo, speziato e sensuale della composizione: la prugna si percepisce chiaramente, il latte di mandorla dona alla fragranza una morbida rotondità, mentre davana e zafferano indiano aggiungono un accento più originale e meno scontato — qui non si parla più di un semplice “profumino piacevole”. Poi il cuore floreale si apre gradualmente: ricco, ma assolutamente mai pesante. Quello che emerge con maggiore evidenza è la tuberosa avvolgente, sfumata da osmanto, gelsomino sambac, rosa e immortelle. È una fragranza densa, sensuale, con un carattere quasi visionario, eppure resta sempre elegante. Impossibile non notare il fascino della base di questo profumo: suede, benzoino, storace, ambra, muschio, mirra, iris e Kashmir wood costruiscono un fondo morbido, resinoso, leggermente cipriato, con una sensualità autentica che non diventa mai invadente o eccessiva. Sulla pelle è una fragranza con carattere, con colore, con immaginazione. Non dà l’impressione di essere una composizione creata per inseguire la moda o cercare un consenso facile: ha una sua identità precisa, un’estetica quasi barocca, ma portata con equilibrio e gusto. Più di tutto, è proprio questo che metterei in evidenza: non è banale, non è piatta e non è ruffiana. Ha una firma riconoscibile e una struttura che la rende viva, sfaccettata, in continua evoluzione. In certi momenti appare quasi gourmand, in altri floreale, poi diventa ambrata e quasi tattile. È una di quelle fragranze che non si limitano a profumare bene: creano atmosfera. Per me è stato davvero un acquisto felicissimo, e oggi posso dire senza esagerare che è una delle sorprese più belle che abbia avuto in profumeria da molto tempo.

This is a masterpiece!!! Impossible to describe, I haven’t smelled anything like it - don’t even know where to behind other that the fact that it is completely intoxicating. Garden of Delights is the perfect name for this gem - one of my absolute favourites, so complex so rich. If you haven’t tried it you’re missing out. One of my all time favourites. An Italian dream!!! Bravo UPDATE: A after wearing this for over a year now : This perfume is my ultimate favorite—it has an intriguing, almost mysterious quality that makes it unforgettable. It’s undeniably a leather fragrance, but the leather note emerges later, unfolding beautifully over time. The opening is fruity and sweet, irresistibly addictive, with a prominent plum note that blends seamlessly into the composition. What makes this scent truly unique is its subtle saltiness, almost like the scent of skin after a day at the beach—warm, sensual, and intimate. There’s something almost sweaty about it, a whisper of body fluids, but in the most alluring way. It’s hard to define, yet it works so perfectly. This touch of strangeness is what sets it apart, giving it an unexpected yet captivating depth. The balance of rich leather, juicy plum, and that elusive, almost primal warmth creates something both sophisticated and undeniably sexy. Shares some similarities with vintage 'Poison" Dior

Granted I'm a sucker for most of the notes in this....but it's probably the most successful blind buy I've ever had. The notes look like a mishmash...and honestly it kind of is. But its a beautiful and remarkably fun to wear one~ I'd say its primarily an osmanthus-narcissus-plum-lightly herbal spring/summer amber...kind of a fruity-leathery-floral musk maybe? If forced to pick a dominate note it would be the osmanthus. It's the "leathery osmanthus" -- similar to miyako; but with the supporting elements it wears more powdery and floral and less unctuous. In the open the green herbal (davana?) element sometimes smells a little plastic; but when I focus on it it becomes more of a green herbal woody note. The leather starts to fade in the dry down and becomes more green and the spring flowers fade in~ Here its a lovely jammy spring floral with a subtle amber element. After around an hour the leather slips away altogether and the plum and resins become an almost boozy jammy musky scent. At this point it's more of a skin scent but still noticeable~ "Dreamy and bizarre scent" is incredibly fitting!

Wow this is really nice. It was recommended to me by mother member in a forum. I blind bought it based on their description and the notes. Sometimes, tuberose can be too much for me. Here, it is a smoky tuberose that’s very balanced and grounded by resinous notes and suede. Complex, leans feminine. Can be worn any time of year I imagine. It’s unique and distinctive but honestly can be worn everyday, as a memorable signature scent, which is just what I was looking for. Love.

It's an amazing complex gourmand that achieves its sweet notes impeccably. Its sweet, sultry, fresh, ageless.... I could go on and on. I absolutely love this fragrance and will say it's probably my favorite purchase of the year. I would describe it as a clean girl who decided to play dirty.

This is wonderful and addictive, and it smells purple. If I could go back in time with this on, then Prince would surely fall in love with me. :)

The most narcotic and sensual tuberose I've tried so far it's soo beautiful it reminds me a lot of vintage Poison without the incense.

This perfume is a work of art!

The first time I saw this bottle, the image that came to mind was Bosch’s famous triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights. I later checked the Italian name and realized that it’s actually the same title used for this perfume. The painting itself is full of desire, fruit, and fantasy. In the central panel, a lush garden unfolds where humans and strange creatures mingle together. Sweetness and something slightly unsettling exist side by side. This fragrance creates a similar impression. The bottle’s colors—pink with soft green and a gold cap—are bold and almost provocative. The opening is plum and almond. The fruity sweetness is so rich it almost feels dizzying, but very quickly it’s wrapped in a smoky tuberose. The tuberose here isn’t especially “clean.” It’s blended with osmanthus, rose, resin, and suede, creating something sensual and ambiguous. As time passes, amber and musk emerge in the base, bringing a warm, skin-like quality. There’s even a faint salty nuance, almost like the scent of skin responding to desire. The complexity and layering of the fragrance really do feel like an olfactory “garden of delights.” On the surface there are sweet fruits and flowers, but the deeper you go, the more you sense something strange and indulgent beneath it. The scent keeps shifting on the skin, much like the chaotic abundance in Bosch’s painting—visually beautiful, yet filled with an undercurrent of desire. Later I looked up some background information and found that the perfumer Christian Provenzano also mentioned this idea directly. He described wanting to create a surreal illusion through the fragrance: “I imagined a dreamy and bizarre scent which conveys eccentricity, lust and freedom. I wanted to give power to the fruity notes as a symbol of exoticism and aphrodisiac temptation. I wanted to capture the symbolism of this artwork—an olfactive illusion of the surreal.” – Christian Provenzano

I re-ordered a full bottle of Nobile 1942 "Perdizione" to give my beloved Memo Paris "Sintra" a break. Along with jasmine, tuberose and rose, I love orange blossom. So, I decided to purchase "Il Giardino Delle Delizie" along with "Perdizione." Someone suggested I might favor the tuberose notes in Il Giardino... Il Giardino Delle Delize's opening is lovely but I wish it lasted a bit longer. Il Giardino opens with a definite plum and almond, slightly spicy, dense and creamy accord. Within seconds, a gorgeous melange of flowers emerges, florals exactly as listed. Tuberose is noticeable along with the other florals and greens. The perfume's base is resinous, woody and amber-y with a slight green note. I also detect much smoothness, a bit of cashmere and a little suede in the drydown. And the orris root adds a perfect touch of powdery delightfulness. But unlike Perdizione, the longevity and silage of IGDD are not great. After 60-90 minutes, seems like the fragrance is gone. Silage is initially moderate but essentially absent after first spray. I like it. I just wish Il Giardino Delle Delizie developed as a more tuberose-forward, or white floral forward fragrance. And on my skin, it does not. I did purchase a pre-owned bottle of Jacques Fath "Rosso Epicureo," which has some similar notes but is (hopefully) more tuberose & floral forward.

This is not an easy one! I've tried it in four different occasions before reviewing it. The opening is a bit scratchy (maybe it's the Davana+rose that i'm not able to recognize), but then relatively fast it turns into a VERY balanced, VERY well blended amaretto + flowers composition, in its core. I can kinda feel the parallelism with Hieronymus Bosch's triptych "The garden of earthly delights" because this is, in its own way, a green scent, but very softly so, just in the background, it is so well blended that it allows you to perceive the opulence of the saffron, the animalic notes (and definitely an animalic persistence) - without any dirtyness at all - and the rest is filled with something very fluffy, mainly almonds and osmanthus (not too fruity, not too creamy). Extremely complex fragrance, so much so that it can feel kinda overwhelming or confusing in some steps of its evolution. I also do have to say that even though the persistence is excellent, the sillage is pretty poor. Unlike anything I've ever smelled (i see two upvotes for the similarity with Absolue d'Osmanthe by Perris, wich is way more linear and immediate!): it can be fun to try but not full bottle worthy for me.

#839 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is another Nobile 1942 that I don't know if it is legit unisex. The fruitiness, especially in the opening, reminds me of Emanuel Ungaro "for Her." I've collected a dozen men's scents that feature plum and I have a dozen more on my acquisition list, so I apparently really like plum. But the opening on this came off with an almost citric note like Armaf "Odyssey Mandarin Sky", which is very popular, but too fruity for me and I gave it away. I would even say if you like this you'll like "Mandarin Sky" and vice versa. The dry down loses a lot of that fruitiness and the mids and base are a nice combo I'd be happy to smell on a woman. It's just not for me.

Hard to explain. Unusual blend of notes. Nutty, buttery suede, skanky jasmine, musk, green florals. There's some sort of unlisted animalic here, maybe civet. Both fresh, crisp, and thickly buttery at the same time. In style, this reminds me a bit of Arquiste Ella, although that one is a chypre.

Fruity.. green.. floral.. a bit dirty... interesting and a bit strange... good drydown and sweet...

It’s a unique fragrance - sometimes I get leather and other times jasmine. I find that it’s a delicate scent that doesn’t last long on me. It’s not something I would purchase however I applaud Christian Provenzano for his unique combination of notes.
