Vespri Aromatico

Following the line started with Vespri Esperidati W, the House of Nobile 1942 released, in 2013, two more fragrances inspired by the freshness and the natural aspect of the traditional Italian citrus fruits, such as Calabrian bergamot and lemon from Sicily. They are also part of the line of Supreme fragrances (Fragranza Suprema) in EDP concentration and of shared use. The official notes are: Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon, green notes and fennel, in the output; sea salt, Rosemary, Juniper and geranium, in the heart; sandalwood, cedarwood, tonka bean, musk, cashmere wood and mosses, in the base. Although the output is similar and also respects the dna of the Vespri line, with their citrus power, you can feel a little difference and a slightly sweetened nuance, as soon as the fragrance is sprayed. The fennel, which is also known as dill (or anise), is not only about the seeds that are used in cooking. Its stem and its flowers also feature the typical aroma, but the essence is extracted by distillation of the seeds. Here, its aroma lingers throughout the evolution, especially when the heart notes become more noticeable. Then, we have the fennel and the rosemary, which exude brilliantly and represent the main role of this composition. With respect to its base, I felt nothing of the tonka bean. On my skin, the nuances of mosses, musk and cedar were the more vivid. Less trained noses may say that this perfume looks artificial and cheap, because the aromatic heart of the fragrance is very present and stands out the natural and citric output. But this fragrance is not artificial! Of the Vespri line, it was the one that projected and lasted the most on my skin and the one I think is more worthwhile knowing. A gift to the fans of aromatics!

What a absolute gem. Nobile 1942 always has amazing citruses and this is no exception. This is the brother of Vespri Esperidati, which I also own and love. Whereas Vespri Esperidati is more on the resinous, slightly earthy/smoky side thanks to a more oriental drydown, Vespri Aromatico is pure green. Bright, zesty, green right off the bat. Super zingy and fresh. It has a rather unusual twist from most green freshies/fougeres. It has a salty/savory quality to it that makes me salivate and I think it's the dill and fennel, two things I absolutely adore in food and I definitely get that here. There's an odd soapiness as well but no lavender which is rather unusual but it's very pleasant. Definitely more masculine. This will be killer when it gets warm in the late spring and in the summer. Longevity is surprising decent, I get a good 6 hours with good initial projection which is a nice for a freshie (probably because it's more green). If you're a fan of fougeres and green aromatics and especially if you like barbershop fragrances, get your nose on this.

A wonderful invigorating unisex warm weather scent. It smells expensive and makes me think of Xerjoff scents. It opens with fresh juicy citrus notes. It settles and now the aromatic notes, salt and a touch of fennel are very evident. The citrus fades back a bit further and now it's all about the aromatics. This would smell great on a guy and I might share with the oh lol. Moderate longevity and sillage

Very sharp and piercing opening in the best way possible. Invigorating, wakes you up in the morning. To me it’s equally crisp green as it is citrusy and salty. Kinda like a Sauvage I guess, or that style, but much more natural and potently aromatic. Also, the Verveine is an apt comparison the green and citrus notes together have a lemon verbena scent. Performance is really good for a freshie.

This is a fresh and lively aromatic - I absolutely love this stuff. No bitter green notes to my nose...it's also not sweet either...very neutral. I think the performance is good for such a natural scent, and the projection is average. This is not going to fill a room, but you wouldn't want this scent to do that anyways.

Green elegance, citrus in a suit, no punch to hit you but a gentle, smooth encirclement. Bergamot, aromatic notes and saltiness are still perceivable after 4 hours. Really good longevity for a green one.

As fresh scents go Vespri Aromatico is possibly the most unique I have smelled to date. Brand press releases often fail to live up to reality and just come across as marketing speel, but in the case of Vespri Aromatico I think they have achieved a very good impression of what is in the bottle. A fresh summer, post-storm herbal vegetation scent being blown along the Amalfi coast. Upon spraying it's like opening a fridge door and being met with a clean, aromatic dill and natural lemon/bergamot (almost detect lime at times too) salty waft, which causes your nostrils to flare a little. The geranium (leaf rather than flower), fennel and juniper (leaf, not the juniper berries) provide the aromatics in the mids whilst the lemon slowly fades. The airy saltiness lingers. Rosemary and fennel seem to combine as a unique note at times. All the green notes together have a watery lushness and smell very natural. The tonka bean smooths everything out and keeps those greens under control and away from becoming overly bitter or sour, rather than being a stand-out note in itself. The dry-down finally takes you into comforting softwoods, mossy cedar, musk, and a subtle playdoh amber in the background. On my skin (testing in mild weather) the opening lasts around 30 mins, mids to around 3+ hours, and slowly fades to a skin scent to around 8 hours from there. This is a clean, fresh and green scent best suited for the warmer spring and summer daytime. I don't get any marine vibes but there is a lush watery greeness. Projection is within an arm's length and has a subtle lingering scent trail for at least the first 2 hours. It's most likely to appeal to the over 25's and has a smart/casual vibe. How on Fragrantica Vespri Aromatico is as being voted reminiscent of Allure Homme Sport I'll never know, so I may as well explain why I think not. They are as different as oranges and lemons - you only need to look at the opening note break down to see that. Both are superb fresh scents, fit for the same purpose and both have a Tonka / musk backbone but Vespri Aromatico has far more green freshness going on making it a lot more interesting. However, 'interesting' isn't what always attracts compliments. Allure Homme Sport is sweeter and has that Chanel aldehydic oomph to help it project. I'm keen to get to know Vespri Aromatico better and see how it performs in the summer heat/humidity, I sense that is where it will be at its best.

I was put off getting 15ml of this because of the listed fennel note, which is quite similar to anise (if not actually just the same aromachemical but associated with a more regionally relevant accord) but it's actually nice and well balanced. The aromatics give it a kind of clarity, it doesn't actually feel like a damp herb garden.

#1119 in my "Tour de Fragrance" For me this one falls into the "acquired taste" category. I don't dislike it, and It's certainly different from the most popular styles, but after a half dozen Nobile tryouts that have prompted immediate full bottle buys, this one will not be getting added to my collection. It has the same scent and feel of Alfred Sung's "Hei", which I had the same reaction to: it smelled at first like my kitchen seasonings rack, then like a walk on the trail through the woods. It improves a lot in the dry down where it's mostly juniper. It certainly projects at first, but like all aromatics that fades quickly, and the skin scent, while it lasts till lunch, isn't really any stronger that the Albert Sung EDT, which after all is just $15, whereas this is $70 or more. So, while this is certainly car pool, elevator, small office safe, okay for any use, it's just okay and would not be a scent I'd recommend anyone bother with.

Too sharp and piercingly pungent. I love citrus fragrances, but this one is very sharp and piercing.

Vespri Aromatico was probably inspired by Creed's Silver Mountain Water. Over the first 20min I get big dose of juniper surrounded by some powerful green and citrusy notes. Very close to SMW but a bit more sour and herbal. Afterwards, though, the sharper elements tone down and the juniper begins to take control. Forget SMW. The overall impression from then on is: grown-up juniper + mild citrus + ambroxan + light vintage sweetness + cashmeran + watery greenness. Not bad, not great.
