Palmetto

This is THE refreshing summer green fragrance for me right now, and honestly it’s becoming one of my all time favorite perfumes. It feels like a three way Venn diagram between a green fig (like Debaser or Noyz Sh*** Day), an earthy galbanum (like Andra Maack Coven or Maison d’Etto Macanudo), and a waxy tropical (like Vacation by Arquiste or Bath & Body Works At The Beach) without going too sweet, soapy, or synthetic. It’s the actual palmetto tree, with all her leaves, bark, sandy soil and tropical breeze. I love her.

I got a sample after purchasing Nomenclature. This one is aggressively green! If you’ve tried Shi-so and wanted something more natural & raw, this is a good starting point. Shi-so is crushed Ivy leaves & shiso leaf rolled between your fingers. Palmetto is freshly broken bitch branches, the white sap running along your fingers. There are lots of green scents out there but this one differentiates by smelling very natural & unapologetic to the Flora it emulates.

Nomenclature might be the go-to Green house. This is yet another impressive offering from their line (+ the recently reviewed Shi-só and Flu-oral) which goes heavy on green notes. I find it hard to go wrong with galbanum anything. The use of lemon lightens this up ever so slightly to avoid “crushed stems” territory. The jasmine, however, is a little bit “pissy” by the end of it all. Beware lol...

Nothing aggressive for me here, unless you call the initial blast of galbanum aggressive. Which reminded me of RL Safari. But unlike Safari, galbanum in Palmetto lasts 3 seconds and then it quickly mellows down to a pretty jasmine-fig milkiness. Soft and pretty.
