Norell Elixir

This is really well done. The initial spray is thick and heavy, sweet notes with a twist that smells almost like licorice to me. I get the plum and patchouli melting with tuberose and pepper. There's a hint of citrus, but it vanishes quickly. Norell Elixir has a mysterious vibe to it, but it's also very familiar, cozy and warming. The perfume lasts about 4-5 hours on my skin, with a lovely dry-down that features lingering notes of sweet plum and dry light patchouli. I adore this, it's a great fragrance!

I just got this, and it's really amazing. I find it to be very alluring and sexy smelling. It's almost gourmand, and it's somewhat "perfumey" too. It strikes me as mature, but not stuffy or matronly. It's somewhat reminiscent of what the power house fragrances used to be, and when perfumes weren't afraid to be loud, and unapologetic. I have this in a small size, and can already predict I'll need the full size bottle. It's that good.

Norell Elixir is lovely. I remember trying the original Norell in stores and that one did not smell good on me, but I have loved wearing my decant of this one. It is reminiscent of Black Orchid but not a dead-on dupe of it, no earth, no truffle, nothing hard to wear here. This has its own character. It's a beautiful resinous plum fragrance, like Gucci Guilty Intense mixed with L'Agent, but less bold than either of those. It's softer, comfier, goes on strong but calms down quickly. Warm and sweet, I smell the tuberose and sweet jasmine like a muted plummy Poison tuberose, and a gentle tart burn of pimento pepper. I don't think it smells exactly like anything else, but like a muddled, smudgy, oil pastel drawing of those typical deep plum fall perfumes. Not overtly sexy, but warmly sensual.

To me this is dark, incense-y and resinous, like a musty apothecary. Definitely a scent for darkest winter. A little bit boozy in the beginning that eventually turns sweet and spicy. Reminds me of Armaf's Club de Nuit Intense (I don't have TF Noir de Noir). Makes me want to have a brandy by the fire. The more I wear it, the more I love it.

starts off with sweet plum, pink pepper and florals. later, i get a very sugary plum with patchouli that borders on cloying. i do like plum if it's tempered with spices or incense but this is just too sweet for me. there's also something underneath that's mildly rubbery but i'm not sure what that could be.

This is fun but I wouldn’t want to smell like it; Cigarettes and licorice, very patchy. That’s not the notes but it’s exactly how it smells to me. IMO this heavy hitter could be disliked by a good number of people

I have to admit that I didn't have burning desire to try this out because I remember smelling the old version and no offense to women who love it but it just about made me hurl. So I assumed it must be the modern version of it. I am glad I finally gave it a shot though. I own small spray courtesy of Scentbird and I was surprised how much I liked it. Especially since it has tuberose and patchouli-notes that tend to be very hit or miss for me. It opens up a bit spicy but not overtly though and quickly transforms into slightly sweet, almost resinous tuberose, with patchouli. Wow, I am really liking it, to my eternal surprise. Lasting power is not that awesome which I was surprised and disappointed in. But it seem to be the case for so many fragrances nowdays. I also sampled "regular" Norell(not elixir) and I was also very surprised how different it was-much sweeter and more powdery. I didn't like it nowhere near as much as Elixir. "Regular" Norell is missing that spicy note that gives it something special so that's a no for me but I can see how many people would really like it. I still have my vial from Scentbird but if I run out, I may consider purchasing a bottle

I don't smell anything except incense which is not in the notes,maybe its sandalwood,Patchouli and Pimiento that's turning me off. It doesn't last for a perfume. I can't take anything away from the beautifully designed bottle and chocolate brown satin material it rests on simply elegant. I would definitely say this is more of a Unisex perfume also use as a room spray during the Fall and Winter. It also reminds me of Tommy Hilfiger cologne for men. I will be gifting this to someone that loves this more than my Meh response. It's rather sad really, paid over $100 for it as a 3.4 ounce perfume. Oh well lesson learned try before you buy.

I agree with NoirEternal, at first spray and for the first half hour, it smells exactly like a weak version of TF Black Orchid. It becomes a skin scent on me at the 1-hour mark, as it dries down to a powdery, spicy patchouli with the slightest hint of tuberose. It is lovely, but as I already adore Black Orchid (which is an absolute beast), I may only save this one for hotter evenings where Black Orchid may be too suffocating. WAY overpriced for what you are getting, though. If you enjoy this scent profile, Black Orchid is a no-brainer, for both quality and price.

Oh, I love this. I almost taste licorice a few minutes after spraying (which I like very much). It's like a warm warehouse full of bulk dried fruit, tea, resins, and spices. I never really think about how the perfume smells so much as how it makes me feel, and while I think it would be nice to wear to the opera, museum, or dancing, I'm finding that spritzing it on before choosing new bathroom tile has steered me to make bolder design and pattern selections. This is great for creative work. Might be a bit distracting in the professional world.

This takes me back in time to Yves Rocher's 8e Jour without the sweet note. This is a spicy scent that is pretty without being overwhelming like Opium or masculine like some spicy perfumes tend to be.
