Been Trying To Meet You

I heard about this on my favourite perfume podcast, On the Scent, and immediately bought the discovery set! I absolutely adore this perfume and can’t stop sniffing my wrist! It’s definitely unconventional, but also very wearable. There’s something so incredibly nostalgic about it, and I can’t figure out why for the life of me! Hoping a Fragrantica genius out there will be able to pinpoint it... The other two in the discovery set weren’t really for me, but this is a gem!

So.... Conceptually I like the thought of Bran absolute, Immortelle, hay, honey etc.... this is all complementary stuff and I get the thinking behind it. I don't know whether this is the most popular but it seemed that way from the couple of influencer bits I'd seen and a little hype or at least a couple of mentions. However, I really don't like this perfume. It feels like it's fighting itself with very little room for the individual materials to shine, making an oppressive blanket, rather than a perfume with diffuse, breathing space. I've said this in the other two reviews, and I feel like a dick for punching someone's baby in the face, because clearly the perfumer is striving for something, and I genuinely admire that, but if the perfume isn't enjoyable or speaks to you, communicates something, anything, then it's difficult to get onboard. I may update these reviews, come back to the perfumes and try them again, perhaps something will change?

Starts with bitter note of mugwort, in about ten minutes it subsides a little and an orthodox church-like frankincense vibe joins the scene. I start to hear hay shortly after this point. It’s like a summary my time at my grandmothers home in western Ukraine, with sedges in the hallways, Easter baskets with herbs and flowers and even holidays visits to a cemetery with a small chapel and its incense. All of these with wheat harvest at dusk in the background. This fragrance makes me so nostalgic. Not sure I want to wear it everyday, but I like it. Nothing reminds me of pixies though, absolutely no what I expected!:) Performance could be better... a few hours and I can’t hear it anymore.

This perfume accomplishes what it sets out to do. This reminds me of visiting my aunts farm as a child and walking in the fields with her and her horses. A reviewer below said it somehow feels nostalgic and depending on your life experiences it is ! I purchased a 7 ml sample and while only part way through it I ordered the 50 ml bottle. I plan on wearing this frequently and received many compliments at work. After four hours it does need to be re applied though. This and Erawan are my go to when wanting hay and fields.
