Blood Orange Chocolate

I wanted to share a review that reflected my observations of this perfumes over the course of a day: Hopped out of the shower and applied this perfume to my wrists. This one came out of the gate swinging. You absolutely should not try this one on a hot day. There is a sweet, syrupy honey starring on first spray; so sweet that you feel you can taste it. The next thing you notice is a note reminiscent of an expensive orange gourmet chocolate; like those foiled balls that are gifted around the holidays. The chocolate note is not like milk chocolate. It's more of a rich aroma that combines the essence of bitter chocolate with nutty and slightly fruity undertones. This fragrance is less sweet than processed milk chocolate , but more woody and earthy due to the cacao nib notes. Strong first impression. (After 30 mins) The projection is strong, Strong with a capital S. It is reaching out beyond arms length. I always test decants on my wrist, with the thinking being that I won't go through nose blindness because I won't always smell the scent ... well I am sure I will be smelling this scent all day even with it only being on my wrist. I'm trailing all over with this one, and it should be noted that it is an EDP. The sweet , thick honey is still there but the cacao nibs with it's woody hazelnut base is stepping forward to lead. I'm getting a bit of the citrus from the blood orange but it isn't super strong, just right like a supporting actor. This would be really awesome if I was wearing it under a sweater. (After 3 hours) Finally this perfume has settled down, but only a little bit! it is still a good bit of silage; projecting beyond my arm's reach. It is now a very nice warm scent. It is on the edge of becoming more milk chocolatey, as the sweetness and chocolate are the main stars right now. It is well supported by a strong vanilla caramel with a sightly nutty background. I think I can pick out a sugar cane note. My impression of sugar cane is a sweet, but slightly green airy note (I grew up with it being around). I am enjoying this scent more right now, than any other time since putting it on. People around me what to know what I am snacking on because they smell the warm chocolatey notes. I can see why this was marketed as a Christmas holiday scent; it is cozy, warmly welcoming, a bit familiar and makes you think of dessert deliciousness. 10 hours later it is still radiating within arm’s length. It has settled into a warm vanilla caramel on top of milk chocolate scent. It is still nice, cozy and welcoming. It is more milk chocolate now than it has ever been earlier in the day. Creamy milk chocolate under a strong vanilla caramel. Not getting any citrus nor honey at all. Final thoughts: It’s a nice perfume. An outstanding EDP that has some serious lasting power. Twelve hours later, after a shower, it is still clinging oh so lightly to my skin. It smells faintly of creamy chocolate ; like cocoa puff cereal that is soaking in milk. It didn’t quite catch and hold on to that orange chocolate holiday vibe, that I heard folks speak of when discussing this perfume, but it could easily be someone’s cool weather favorite. It is quite noticeable and definitely drew attention from others around me. This perfume is something to make you even more inviting in your favorite cozy sweater; and at the same time be the something you forget you own during the summer hot months.

I understand why perfumers always want to do an orange-chocolate scent (all those Christmas chocolate break-apart oranges when you're a kid) but they're almost impossible to get right and here's a prime example. This absolutely smells like a chocolate bar. Unfortunately the orange is weak and the honey is sickening. I spent several minutes trying to figure out what white floral this was overdosing on and finally realized it was an artificial honey note, way too amped up. If this is a scent combination you really long for, I suggest Aquolina Chocolovers: cheaper and truer to the idea. Sillage: 2-3 ft Longevity: 3 hours and wishing it would fade Value to price ratio: poor Fabulosity: moldy Hershey bar 2/10

Maybe something went wrong with the bottle but the chocolate in this is a very dirtlike-metallic scent. Ruins whatever else might be going on. Powdery chocolate. Too bad.There are many better chocolate oranges worth exploring- certainly Chocolate Greedy but also Dulcis in Fundo or the Serendipity 3 fragrance.
