Coconut Sugar

I love coconut in the summer, and this is the best one I have found. Both my husband and my 25 year old son love this on me. It's not too sweet, and the fruit and vanilla give it interest and warmth. I will never be without it.

This one was too sweet and artificial for my personal taste, though I do like gourmands. There is coconut in there pretty noticeably in the beginning, and I don’t like the initial smell as it is almost sickly sweet, but I stuck with it through the dry down and it became less syrupy. I pick up the strawberry note very well. Early in the dry down it reminds me of the scented plastic Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony dolls from the 1980s, along with a whiff of Play-Doh. It softens out after a while. The notes say that Coconut Sugar was inspired by the sweet smells wafting from a bakery in NYC’s Chelsea Market. The vision was to capture the vibrant, fun-loving, freshness of youth, and I agree that the end result does smell young and playful, just too much so for me. I would say this is the opposite of the typical mature woman’s scent. I envision this as a fun first perfume for a young girl, or a women who wants to wear something very sweet, playful and young.

First blast is a nostalgic fruit scented plastic doll. jkinney13 is right on. Mellows out but never losses that sweet plastic gumminess of too shiny, blond doll hair. I've worn Coconut Sugar on days I'm feeling more artsy than pretty and it sits in that space nicely.
