Towédé

Funny, contrary to the review below, I do not perceive Towede as overly sweet or jammy. The dry cinnamon, nutmeg and slightly bitter cocoa balance out the bourbon vanilla and leather, the ambergris note adding a salt-air effervescence that keeps everything from being too heavy. When I first tried it, I was given the distinct impression that this was an incense perfume, but no such notes are listed. Regardless, it reminds me of a specific spice cabinet from my childhood and all that represented, holding mysterious glass jars symbolizing a life of intrigue and possibility I couldn't yet conceive. It's this latter point that I've honed in on -- at a glance, the listed notes may suggest this fragrance is a gourmand, but Towede transcends genre. Sophisticated, confident, worldly.

Before reading the notes, my mind went straight to warm, spicy red oolong or rooibos tea. Towede has a bit more of a kick at first spray, then dries down and warms up to something so comforting and cozy without loosing any boldness/originality. I definitely do get the bitter dark chocolate and cocoa notes, and it takes a while for any sweetness to come through, which I appreciated––toward the end of wear, it begins to smell a bit more like chocolate milk to me! A perfect fragrance for chillier weather; lasts on clothes and coats for days

This is a spectacular scent that is long lasting and one of the most wonderful ambery fragrances I have tried. I’m waiting for a full bottle to arrive at one of my local boutiques where I got to try it. I keep sniffing my wrist. A great discovery and I hope to try the other scents in the brand.

Sticky sweet spicy cola. The chocolate aspect strikes me as caramelized, almost like stewed fruits. Plummy, jammy, raisins and candied ginger. Maybe a little wedge of a maraschino cherry. It reminds me of Baraonda without the overwhelming sneezy nose tickle that fragrance gives me. I *think* there's a hint of an incense note here but I can't pinpoint it. Redolent and massive, this isn't a delicate scent and I can imagine this could be overwhelming in warm weather. I don't know if I would wear more than a single spray of this for general use (this could overwhelm an office). This is *incredibly* persistent on clothing (it's survived on the tee shirt I'm wearing after it's been through the wash). It's a wonderful weekend, free time fragrance.

I have tested this a few times now and I think I have gathered my thought enough for a review. I gotta say, this fragrance really takes me on a journey and develops so much over time on the skin. In the opening I really wasn’t sure and wasn’t really a fan of the cinnamon/nutmeg combo but it’s not long before it tones down to a buttery quality. Maybe that’s the chocolate before it gets to the rich vanilla sandalwood base. Don’t be scared by the patchouli note, I am not a fan of patchouli either but I don’t smell it much in here. Overall I think it’s a really interesting fragrance. Lovely for the cooler months.

I never thought I would like this. I’m not gonna lie, I bought the sample set because I really wanted to try out “Prolégoménes” rather than irresponsibly blind buying. But “Towédé” makes it 2/2 hits so far from the brand. It is sweet, earthy, spicy, chocolate-y (but not overly cloying), warm, enveloping, and sophisticated. This in the winter would BANG... it’s a majorly cozy scent profile. That ever so slight and dry inclusion of sandalwood is also an amazing detail in this scent which keeps it relatively airy rather than any sort of gourmand feeling.
