Deep Moon

First time I tried it I loved it on paper on my skin it went downhill, smelled like pickles. But now I am Thinking it was due to trying it in Notino which has so much smell in and I had an oud fragrance closeby on skin. I tried it again and pulled the trigger for 40€. The opening to me is very Green spicy, I get some sage but cant pinpoint much but its overall very pleasant, sort of mature, very Little sweetness, more herbal. Within minutes it turns a bit sour, but I dont get pickles anymore, I get the grapefruit with spice, also Ginger very detectable. This may be the First fragrance where I can clearly smell its a grapefruit and not general citrus. There is also this gentlemanly powdery smell very similar to Dolce Gabbana the One Edp - thats why many people say its similar I think. These are not very similar though, with dg I get orange this powdery elegant gentleman and in the back something dark and smooth, dg is also noticably weaker, Blue Moon is much more present. The backbone of Blue Moon is not dark, but rather sweet, the vanilla peaks through, not overly sweet, but present. You have to like vanilla to like this - I love vanilla so this is Right Up my alley. The blue juice suggests it could be Summer Daily freshie (which it is for like 5 minutes), But to me its very much not. Its very specific scent and I would actually wear this in the evenings. I would be cautious about wearing this in high Heat, when the grapefruit and edible spices mix with sweat it will smell like BO for sure! It has a big plus - doesnt smell Like anything else, Its nothing crazy, but gives niche vibes. So if you want something interesting with quality, that is way cheaper than most Designers try this, its literally 40€ in discount. Someone Said Arab perfumes do more for the fraction of the cost - Arab perfumes are literally 40€+ and they all have chemical edge, stinging my nose. With some I even sneeze uncontrollably. They are stronger for sure, in the room you dont smell much of the Chemical Edge but as the one who wears it you definitely do. Its not pleasant. This is Miles above Arab dupes, and same Price or cheaper. To the ladies, this one leans heavily masculine to me, one of the very Few of novellista I wouldnt say are really unisex.

I got a sample of Deep Moon, along with Velvet Dusk, with a Notino purchase; this Italian niche house is pretty much under the radar but it looks like Notino gave away a bunch of samples along with purchases earlier this year, so here I am with my thoughts on it. The opening of Deep Moon is really a non-descript sweet-spicy combination - it's not bad at all, but feels and smells déjà vu. Upon the very first spray, there is some faint balsamic-minty thing going on which dissipates almost immediately, and I wonder which note(s) could cause that. I don't get much of the grapefruit but I think the usage here is to increase the sweetness rather than add any hint of tartness to the opening. After the sweetness, comes the spiciness - the ginger is rendered rather nicely and, with the sweetness of the cardamom, reminded me a lot of a cup of golden milk, minus the turmeric. At points I get some distinct bubble-gum sweetness which is not entirely my liking, but really comes and goes and is usually annoying only if you smell it close on your skin, so it's not really much of an issue. Might it be the vanilla? I think not, but who knows. The most interesting quality of Deep Moon, to me, is it's cozyness and warmth. This would be an excellent cuddling scent :P I can't relate Deep Moon to its name, which suggested in my mind something dark, remote and cold, while in reality it is rather sweet and cozy, and I would have rather called this one Golden Moon or something; it's really a sweet blue frag, totally unoffensive, über-versatile, generally pleasant type of scent; for this very same reason, it's also highly unoriginal, and for most frag-heads probably boring. On my skin it doesn't last very long nor project significantly; it remains a nice close-to-the-skin scent when you don't know what to wear but, for the retail price, might be a bit of a waste. I think it can be safely used year-round, any time of the day, almost any situation. Overall it's a like, though I would not buy a bottle if owning other fragrances doing the same, lasting more, and costing less.

This is blue fragrance (not like BDC) that makes me feel like I am next to the ocean at night. It's more masculine. Not unisex. After reading reviews I get the LNDL / Dolce gabanna connection, but its not close at all. Its much closeer to some generic oceanic type frag, kinda smells cheap and expensive at the same time... Now that I think of it, it's kinda close to Versace Blue Jeans, yes, but more fancy and oceanic. (if you dont know Versace Blue Jeans, the fragrance smells a bit like shampoo) It has nice oceanic sparkly effect in the opening that lasts for maybe hour. It's like night crispy air with sea breeze. Very much overpriced in my opinion... But if I would smell it on someone I would think that they smell nice.

The scent profile is amazing, I see it more as a fall/winter fragrance, good for afternoon meet ups or early evening aperitifs and intimate gatherings. Although having a great DNA, it is not suited for people who wish to have a "beast mode" jack of all trades. This is a very specific fragrance, beautiful, but does not last long at all and has a moderate projection. My only observation is that it is a tiny bit over priced for what it offers, considering some Arab perfumes do more with a fraction of the cost, but if you are a collector or someone with a very developed sense of smell (a good taste for classy details), this fragrance is definitely for you! I have a tester of this, its good. First second, oof, cologne, then, when it settles, it smells like a forest in summer :) Like, pine trees. Then I get some vanilla. I also get the sage. Its really good. Little masculine leaning for me. I sprayed it on my hand, but can smell it when I wave my hand in the distance. One spray, so the sillage is pretty good :) I think if you sprayed this on your nape in summer it would be amazing. Not getting a full size for myself any time soon, but would love to have someone around who smells like this.

Sweetest vetiver fragrance I know. The vetiver is strong on the top then mellows. Young and easy style, offering a delightful balancing act of cool plant terpenes and warm vanilla and spice. Impact like a faceted amber light bulb - warm yet also shiny and sparkly. This could be a Burberry fragrance. Or a fun cheapie by Lorson. Really good but nothing too serious. It lasts on my skin for many hours and even projects so I can smell that I'm wearing it.

Love this for the hot days. Gives me a “mystic woods near the sea” kinda vibe. Herbal and beachy-aquatic at the same time. In my opinion it’s true unisex, I can see either gender pulling it off with no issues. I wear it and it leans sweeter to my nose. However the longevity and projection are very poor. I would personally stick with the travel size and wouldn’t buy the full size because it definitely isn’t performing as it should.

As soon as I sprayed this I immediately fell in love although with time I started to like it less, it reminds me of sweet woods at night but in the dry down it starts to smell like shampoo on my skin. But the opening-mid part it’s beautiful and mysterious 🤤

D&G the One clone nothing else.

I think this scent is very masculine so I am reviewing it in a sense that would I like it on man or not. I think it would be feeling a little bit too similar to some supermarket men's soap to be honest. When looking at the note list, I was expecting more. Yet, it is also a bit sexy. The title fits it well. It feels cold/calm. I get it that someone here said it smells kind of cheap and expensive at the same time.

Not bad, but not to my taste. The scent of cardamom is clear with a hint of ginger 🌿, and it reminds me of One Million, in my opinion. It also feels like it suits someone around 30 years old. 👨🦳

The dry down smells like YSL LNDL Bleu Electrique but the performance is even worse. This is way overpriced.

Unisex for sure. Okay scent with spice. Not strong though.

A cheap version of The One by Dolce & Gabbana.

received a sample from notino, this one is a freshie and it does not smell bad, but it literally becomes a skin scent after 20 minutes.

This is the 4th 'Best of Novellista' sample I have tried. This one reminds me of an old boyfriend ages ago. Jazz by YSL I think he wore. But a lot fainter than I recall. Personally not my taste, too masculine and way overpriced. I find it very interesting to try them, but I'm glad that I only have bought samples so far...

Not sure if i like it. It seems to quickly become sour, due to the cardamom, whereas i wished it was more spicy and woody. At times it smells like a book, which i like! But the 'sourness' come in later...

Opening is very nice, however during the dried down version I can sort of smell stinky armpits. I don’t think people would pick up on it, however I can’t get it out of my head when I smell it.
