Rouge Privé

The perfume that got me 100% on the rose train. It's well balanced, elegant, performs really well. In more detail: the opening is fresh and blooms into the mid notes in such a beautiful way, you can follow closely how the rose scent deepens and gradually becomes more complex. Patchouli, vetiver and benzoin balm are there in an alluring supportive role of the rose. This whole thing feels like a seduction all the way to the dry down which is a dark and gothic rose (yeah, I know this is reallt subjective so I just wanna say that it feels like a gothig rose to me). Also, no sweetnes detectable on my skin. Just this deep, multifaceted rose that evolves throughout hours. It easily stays for min 8h and has a moderate projection. God, I miss it so much I'm gonna buy another bottle soon...

Listen because I’m going to say it once: IT’S NOT THE SAME AS ROSES VANILLE!!! ITS BETTER. Yes, they are in the same family, however Rouge Privé has these amazing little details that give it so much more life, zest, fun, sparkle - it’s that hint of lemon and am I crazy or is the lemon actually lime? It’s brought forward so it’s not actually a vanilla bomb with rose turkish delight stickiness, more depth and balance. I’ve worked as a rep for Montale and Mancera, I know my stuff, Roses Vanille is so dated and plain compared to this one, if you want something in this family, Novelista is the way to go. Longevity and projection are great. And to the 111 people that compare it to Intense cafe... all good? Do you need help, a doctor? The logic is not logic-ing....

This has been my signatute fragrance for 3 years and I cannot get tired of it, I'm on my 4th bottle already. It's a more sophisticated and mature version of Intense Cafe. It's a sweet, alluring rose on a woody base. It works amazingly with gothic-inspired outfits, because it almost gives off "funeral home" in a comforting way. I don't wear perfumes for compliments but people always ask me what I'm wearing when I have this one on, and I also get lots of compliments for it.

I feel like I need to say this because I saw Intense Cafe listed here as the most similar.... The rose accord is similar, but everything else is VERY different, Roses Musk is actually the best match from Montale, but there is no citrus zing to it. Closest match IMO is actually Roses Vanille, which is basically the same just much stronger. All of these are still missing benzoin, and I love a good rose benzoin so I think this might be my favorite our of the bunch.

Ok I am not that experienced in fragrances, so take this with a grain of salt... But the first thing that comes to mind smelling this perfume is always honey. Rosey honey, very lovely, very intoxicating. Smells like drinking mead at a Christmas market, but not in a cheap way - it feels pretty luxurious. Very good longevity and moderate sillage. Love it!

My review based of a sample: Initial spray - familiar scent, to my nose is giving me GFG by MFK 😍 Yes I figured Mancera and Montale fragances would be mentioned in here. I wanna say it's also giving me Maïssa - Vanilla but more GFG for sure, because Vanilla is sweeter Unisex

Somehow you can't smell the sickly rose in this perfume, the composition is very beautiful and the drydown is GORGEOUS! I received a sample and bought the perfume after a week of wearing it every day and testing it, it's really long lasting on my skin

This is a bouquet of red roses, unique and realistic smell. The rose is exactly what I have been hoping for. For me it's sensual with a touch of seductive provocation, goes perfectly with sultry stockings and suspenders :) Ideal for fall and winter.

Oooh, this smells so good. The scent is strongly reminiscent of Intense Cafe from Montale which is also one of my favorite fragrances. This is a warm sexy fragrance perfect for a hot date and doesn't smell like lice repellant at all!!!!

Mmm... that’s jammy and seductive type of rose, I really enjoy it. Intense red rose mixed with benzoin, dance together on a patchouli and vetiver base. Must test for rose lovers. As a one of them, I definitely approve 🌹❤️

smellls incredibly charming&unique&sweet but not really sweet at the same time... makes you want to wear this 24/7... for me it is ideal to wear during a day, as it is not strong enough for night time occasions...

A beautiful, sensual rose—sweet, rich, and deep. The sillage is noticeable, though the longevity is average. As a very subtle skin scent, it becomes more serene and lasts through most of the day.

It's intense coffee Montal, K'bridge xerjoff 👍 i would say for sure a better price than xerjoff smells exactly like k'bridge and same performance

It reminds me of my grandmother's vintage lipstick in a small pink jar. Very nostalgic

I’ve never tried Roses Vanille or Intense Cafe, so here’s my review coming in blind and unbiased, with nothing to compare: I like it! This is one of the first rose-heavy perfumes with benzoin that I can enjoy smelling because it doesn’t smell like straight-up gasoline. I’m not saying it doesn’t have a hint of that, but it’s not unpleasant or as extreme as a lot of other rose scents. Yes, it does dry down a bit rubbery and powdery yet creamy. It becomes very balsamic and sweet. To my nose, it has a slight lipstick vibe. It’s fresh with a subtle gourmand touch. I feel like it’s a smooth blend of notes, and it smells cute. The initial spray is wonderful, and the dry-down is lovely, too. Performance is okay for the price. Worth the money? I’m not sure. If Intense Cafe or its flankers are very similar, I’d probably go with that instead. Intense Cafe is much cheaper for a larger amount of product.

I do love this fragrance. The drydown is sweet and creamy which is fine but I wish that it was more similar to the opening which is super seductive, rich and warm. Is it similar to Intense cafe and Roses vanille ? Yes. But it is still different: it is slightly more subtle than Intense cafe which is muchhhh more nauseating (I still like the scent but it is a lot). I think that it is also similar to Rose rouge by Van cleef, not sure if people will agree but I have both and although they are absolutely NOT dupes, they share the same DNA. I will have to agree that the longevity is poor -I pair it with a rose perfume oil to make it last a bit longer- but the sillage at the beginning of the day is insane. To this day, it is the only perfume I got complimented on by strangers.

I love this. This is almost identical to Roses Vanille by Mancera and Intense Cafe by Montale. The patchouli and benzoin however add a certain depth that makes this so seductive and much much sexier. Like if my date wore this I’d instantly feel smitten. When you get a whiff of this it feels like a sensual caress on your cheek before you’re kissed and you can’t even say no to this person cause they have you wrapped around their finger. Femme fatale material for sure.

Oh no, this really is similar to Intense Cafe. I am traumatised - in my previous work, the CEO's wife wore that one, and we made jokes about her making a huge carbon footprint. She left a trail of smell behind her on the corridors, the smell was everywhere! This one is not as strong, but when I sprayed it yesterday, I felt like she was haunting me! Overall it is not bad, it is an alright powdery rose.

This one is definitely an Intense Cafe clone, very strong resemblance; minus the coffee/latte note at the beginning. And in the first half an hour it's much louder and bolder than IC. After 2-3 hours it quickly fades away into a very soft powdery-sweet rosy scent on my skin. Actually I quite like it, but I won't buy it instead of IC. The price tag is not that reasonable...

A citrussy rose to begin with but becomes sweeter as it dries down and a woody note comes through more. This reminds me of Taifi by Rose Arabia but with more citrus and maybe sweeter. By the dry down I would say this is a mix between Taifi and Intense Cafe. I like it a lot but it is not unique in my collection.

Rouge Privé is my go-to scent for special occasions. It's sophisticated and alluring without being overpowering. The rose is definitely the star, but it's beautifully balanced with the warm spices and earthy notes. Lasts all night too!

Beautiful intense rose! Reminds very much Oscar de la Renta "Eau so charming". Also in this line of (discontinued) Yves Rocher "Rose absolue" and "Miss Dior" Eau de Parfum. Absolutely for absolute rose lovers. :)!

Oud Boucquet/Shaghaf Oud style. Nice, but there any many scents like that.

This opens with a very nice, sweet rose and flowery scent. Smells a little of alcohol after a while, I don't know why... could be the mix of bergamot and lemon. It stays very sugary sweet to my nose. Initially I liked it, but after a while it changes to something difficult and not that appealing anymore. It smells like... your skin, if you put on a floral rose perfume, but someone bumped into you and spilled their old fashioned all over your cleavage.

Very modern scent and probably suitable for all ages. Definitely leans feminine. To me, the damask rose already has something slightly syrupy but in combination with benzoin, the whole thing gets headachy. I think this could have done with a green accord. However here the patchouli only adds to the turgid nature.

A slightly more delicate and more alluring version of Mancera Roses Vanille. And yes, Montale also. If anybody likes Mancera and Montale, then they can blindly buy this perfume, they cannot go wrong. (I do not like this kind of composition, that's why I do not like all 3 perfumes. They are so similar).

Opens with a powerful rose and resinous amber. In the dry down the rose blends well with the patchouli and balsamic benzoin to create a resinous floral and honeyed vanilla accord. Definitely leans feminine and is completely reminiscent of Montale Intense Cafe, but without the coffee.

I find this scent to be straight up and down bees wax with a hint of vanilla and honey. I guess it’s the benzoin. It’s warm spicy, ambery and cozy. I’d rather like the scent for a candle and not on my skin, it’s pleasant but not for me.

I have a sample of this and a 30 ml bottle of Rose Gourmand from Zara. This one is a little bit softer than the RG, but they smell almost identical. Honestly I prefer the Zara one. They are not safe blind buys.

Montale Intense Café for the faint-hearted. A softer version of Montale's Intense Café, without the coffee/latté note. 7/10

Very heavy on the benZoin for my nose

I think this smells quite pungent and sour, maybe a bit vomit-like on my skin.. 😖 It's strange that after a while on my wrist it smells exactly the same as Zara's Bohemian Oud, which I don't like either... How is that even possible when they don't have a single note in common? 😅

Roses Vanilla, Intense Cafe, Delox, etc. done very wrong! Plus it’s more expensive than some of the above. Cacophony in a bottle. Skin scent in less than two hours. If one is lucky enough to survive up to that holly time.

Not to sound too critical, yet the fragrance ukon first application gives off a very beer like smell. It smells just like you opened a bottle of beer and the smell doesn't go away.

It reminds me of lice repellent. Brings back the nightmares of my childhood.

In my opinion, this leans more feminine. The rose is undoubtedly the star of the show, but it's beautifully balanced by the fresh, slightly tangy bergamot and lemon, which keep it from feeling too heavy. To me, this is a perfect spring and summer fragrance for days when you want something fresh, floral, and effortlessly feminine. I honestly can't find anything that could be off-putting, which makes it feel like a pretty safe blind buy. The rose and peony create a soft, elegant floral heart, while the bergamot and lemon add a bright, refreshing opening. As it settles, the musk, vetiver, and benzoin give the fragrance a smooth, grounded base that adds a touch of sophistication and quiet luxury. Overall, it's a beautiful, fresh floral that's easy to wear and hard not to like.

I got a sample of this on the day I purchased my Bouquet Encore :-) Just thinking what to do next, I haven't tried it yet on my skin, just on a paper strip and I have to say it smells gorgeous, rose smell for sure with a hint of some freshness. It lasted on the paper strip for 2 days and still projected decently. I'll definitely give it a try later. Edit: just bough a limited version of Novellista Rose Chant, smelled it in a shop and fell in love at first sniff 😊 I haven't found it here on Fragrantica but the description says Centifolia and Turkish damask rose with sweet iris on top, with Arabian jasmine, Bulgarian rose and a touch of cinnamon in the middle and sandalwood, cedarwood and musky notes at the base. Will update once I test it properly.

I bought a set of Novellista samples. Rouge Privé is the first one I tried. To me it smells like a cup of Rooibos tea with honey and and some green spices served in a freshly carved wooden cup. No roses for me. At a later point, the vetiver becomes a little bit more prominent. Not too much. Just a hint. After a while, it fades away again. Unfortunately, the wood fades as well. Like a man passing by taking away the wooden cup. What is left is just the sweet Rooibos and honey smell. Personally I find this too sweet and sticky on my skin. I miss roses, darkness and freshness.

The NOVELLISTA perfumes are inspired by different works of literature. Roxana: The Fortunate Mistress by Daniel Defoe laid the basis for this floral oriental composition created by Emilie Bouge. This composition starts as a sensual, velvety duet of Damask rose and peony, enframed by citrus notes and touched by patchouli. Later, it changes over to a creamy, balsamic basis. I would describe this scent as intense cafe without montale’s signature musc, but instead with woody notes. This one has a richer sounding. If only Rouge Prive ( and intense cafe) was a bit less sweet , it would be 10/10 for me. But it’s still too sweet , even though less sweet than Intense Cafe or Roses Vanille.

It lacks just a tiny bit. My opinion is the peony messes with the rest because I love the rich, jammy rose opening and expect it to be grounded by the patchouli and the vetiver. But something gives it a sugar note when it dries down. I also don’t really detect the citruses after a minute.

I've had teas that would smell like that if combined: lemon verbena, licorice, some more herbs. A sweet, citrusy and herby perfume, getting more flat and grassy as time passes. No roses here for me.

Gorgeous sweet smell. I love it. Both on male and female. Its unisex. Very rich.
