Unique Wood

I see everyone's giving this a kicking. I can't say how it measures up against similar scents — for me, this smells bloody lovely for the first hour. It starts with a blast of FRESH pine needles, then settles into a late summer walk through a pine/fir forest, sunlight slanting through the tree trunks, dried pine needles on the forest floor, spice, aromatic woods, and warming earth. So I gave it a full wearing yesterday for a long city walk on a nice warm sunny winter's day. Nicely, gently, and classically masculine, unfortunately, after the first hour, it dries down to something less masculine and quite uninteresting. My friend (female) accompanying me on the walk wasn't too impressed — generic perfume she said. EDIT 26/02/21: forget my doubt — this is a beautiful fragrance that's classic in character but modern in its take. Men will love this, women will love this (got a compliment from a different female friend who went crazy for it — an elegant Slovak with a refined nose, and I've just ordered it for her ). I sprayed it once on her and enjoyed her magnificent aroma for hours afterwards... and that was outside. I don't know what the rest of the Novellista range is like, but I'd be surprised if this isn't the best one of them all. Good sillage on the breeze (4m), and projects really well to around arm's length. And it LASTS. One small spray, 10 -12 hours longevity. 3 sprays in the morning is MORE than enough to project all damn day long. This is a powerful scent. In the Czech Republic, every late Summer around the end of August, we like to go into the pine and fir forests to hunt mushrooms. This scent transports me right into the forest again: fresh pine needles, wood sap, dry pine needles, warm clean white wood, and the dry perfumed air you can find in such places when the weather is warm. EDIT: ok, I have dropped this one from my rotation and can see what others complained about. The highly synthetic nature really burned my nose out, especially up-close. Still: a pleasant smell — but I burned out on the harshness in the end. Better in the air.

You are trippin with the sauvage and luna rosa carbon. I went through 2 bottles of sauvage and one lr Carbon and I would say its vaguely reminiscent of those, but not more than 50%. I wanted it to be like sauvage with a slight twist (ran out and like that DNA from time to time) and its very much not. In air it leaves similar bubble at first(top notes), but on skin its so much more. To my nose its mostly resinous amberwood, sauvage is way more peppery and out there, unique wood sits closer to skin, but it sits there firmly and long. Its super versatile, and I feel like its going to be sublime for layering - in Summer with citrus something like the blue acqua di parma to give it some longevity and body and in Winter with Some vanilla like vanilla 28, mercedes club black or even eau de ombre leather - vanilla goes masculine on my skin anyway but with this one its gonna push it way more manly and tone down the sweetness. On it own it smells very impressive, elegant and pleasant, you are not gonna choke anyone. I get similar wood to givenchy gentleman prive, but without the annoying sticky iris. I think its pretty unique for fragrance to be this pleasant Woody and the name seems fitting, it doesnt have designer vibe, but its cheaper than most Designers, for example sauvage edt. It definitely deserves way bigger rating than 3.36, Idk if yall are gatekeeping, but this is hidden gem, 10/10 for me, reasonably priced(got it for 60€), smells very much like I would imagine unique wood to smell, perfect for layering, feels very natural.

I was surprised how masculine this perfume was at the beginning, very strong and spicy but now after about an hour it changed to sweet and milky and animalistic on my skin, very addictive and pleasant for my nose. It’s a complex mixture. Probably not for everyone I would guess. So try out first, give it a moment and then make your mind up.

My review is based of a sample 1st - nothing unisex about this scent Straight up 'male' but super sexy for men, anyone can wear it of course, it does have that men's cologne DNA I actually love it, it has a fresh accord it does have an Fboy type of vibe to it, but it's versatile

A very woody version of Sauvage, after spraying it on my clothes the smell can easily last a few washings as well. I really enjoy the drydown, I find it really comforting and unisex.

It's like a cozy library, like books, but hint of spices and kinda alcohol.

At first I thought, it is purely masculine fragrance but than it starts to sweeten. On my skin, it is balanced and exciting perfume. Not feminine, but soft and fresh. Flowery note is not exactly blooming. It smels green and spicy. Geranium and lavender are in good harmony with violets. Pepper adds hot, a bit earthy aroma. I really like the base, amberwood. It is warm, ambery and solid. Unique wood doesn't express originality, but it is safe and modern. Even it is just better male-freshener for my nose, I am not dissapointed. I hope I meet someone wearing this and I will give a sincere compliment to him/her. :-) Avarage sillage and longevity, all seasons.

Of all the fragrances and samples that I own, this one has the worst score on Fragrantica and I really don't understand why. Yes, it's a bit basic. No, it won't blow you away. Yes it is too expensive. But it is not a BAD fragrance like its score suggest. Instead it is just a fresh and clean peppery scent, and I can't imagine it offending someone to the point that they would hate it. I do not own Sauvage so I can't compare.

I can't tell many differences between this and Sauvage, I guess only the opening is a bit more warm and the drydown is a little more spicy, but it really does smell very similiar. I don't get why it has such low ratings, I guess it isn't as "Unique" as the name would say but this is is a pretty solid, very masculine scent, with good performance.

This is a really interesting scent! I get the lavender and pink pepper right away, which makes it feel fresh and spicy at the same time. It settles into a warm, woody aroma with hints of vanilla and tonka bean. Definitely unisex - my boyfriend loves it on me too!

I love a good masc-leaning leathery scent, but this one gave me a headache as it dried down. It was lovely while I was in the store deciding to purchase it. As it is often compared to Sauvage, I will mention that it never gave me one.

I hate Sauvage, but I like this. It's similar, but with woods and warmth, and initial freshness is different.

Dior Sauvage but maybe a bit less metalic and fruity, but more woody? I guess that's how I'd describe it.

This is what I want my collegues to smell like. Masculine, clean and transparent scent.

I'm not a perfume expert whatsoever, but this one is just purely Dior Sauvage. (As mentioned several times below.) Very masculine, woody-ambery-fresh scent; way too strong and too masculine for me to purchase.

Despite the name, this is unfortunately nothing new or unique. The scent is pleasant, but reminds me of Sauvage too much. What's more, its retail price is higher.

Nice scent but not unique at all. To me quite like Sauvage original version. Leans masculine and younger. Opens fresh and lasts okay on me.

For me this is an old-school men's perfume from the 80s-90s, from my father's perfume cabinet. Nice and basic. 🙂

Open up a bit alcoholic, then souvage starts to shine, but is not 100% sauvage, as it is more worm from the beginning. This sauvagy like note keeps projecting for quite a while, so not to much change happening here, while slowly entering the base notes getting wormer and wormer. This is also the stage where i slowly csn't stand it anymore, there is something in the drydown that reminds me of Moustache and makes me gag, moustache did the same, i think that the vanila note and how is blended in this perfumes that causes me to gag. I do not know if they really smell similar, as i gave Moustsche away because of the gaging, but this ones dry down + the gaging definetly remindes me of Moustsche. This is a take on sauvage that goes wrong for me. So not for me. i am better with prada carbon or sauvage, no gaging and cheaper.

I get if you don’t like Sauvage you might sniff this and think it has a rudimentarily similar structure and you’d probably be right but this is no clone. No way, no how. It’s bark (or should I say screech?) is worse than it’s bite because it’s all over after some initial fireworks. To me it’s more of a violet/cedar with dry, peppery woody elements and modern Fougere artefacts. Very disinterested in it, not a pleasure to wear no hidden depth as you get with Sauvage. I’m just not a fan of this.

Unique Woods smells exactly like the classic aftershave my dad used when I was a kid—familiar, masculine, but nothing fancy. It’s a woody-aromatic scent, pleasant and versatile, suitable for any season, but not particularly impressive. It’s not a bad fragrance, necesary, if you enjoy simple, masculine scents, it’s a safe pick. But if you’re looking for something truly unique, the name might be a bit misleading. 😅

The first hours it smells like nothing specifically - just cheap men's blue cologne from the drug store. Then it starts smelling like an extremely toned down version of Dior Sauvage but made even more basic and boring smelling. I wouldn't recommend it even if it cost 15 euro.

Too much pepper and geranium, only accentuated by the lavender, creating a spicy blue fragrance that is instantly forgettable. There is a vague citrus lurking in the background. Generic, boring, cheap.

Why would you name this "Unique" when it is anything but unique? This is Dior Sauvage and a bunch of other fragrances everyone has smelled before. Not bad, but definitely not unique.

If you are looking for a special scent, this is not it. It smells like a cheap deodorant from the grocery store. Something you have smelt a thousand times before.

I am very unamused that from such interesting masculine notes in pyramid one get... suffocating powdery floral lady vibe. 😕 How is this even possible? 🙄 It does smell similar to Sauvage (which I also dislike) so if someone likes Sauvage he might be quite happy with this one. Unique Wood is not unique at all and not very woody. It truly have vibe of these tiny round scented soaps that one could buy in 1990 in sets. 😯 I can't find any one of notes named in pyramid. It is just a cloud of cloying fragrance. On the other hand it is quite strong and project very well.

Is a copy of Sauvage, smells exactly like Eau D’uardo from Kentucky Fried Chicken

This came as a free sample once. Ambroxan-y, pleasant, safe. Office? Honestly, nothing to write home about. Something else prompted me to write this. In my place this is more expensive - even at a discount !! - then much more interesting, classier and long lasting scents IE 'Bois Imperial' by Quentin Bisch. DSquared woodsy perfumes can be bought for 1/4 of the price, if you're lucky (somewhat similar quality/value). Can we let that sink in for a bit? Hard pass. Get real, novelistta.

Sample from Notino. First try: this smells vintage. Lots of lavender, lots of geranium, peppery, woody scent. It reminded me of colognes from Geo F Trumper. Second try: the above plus some Sauvage thrown in. It's not bad for the price, if you like "manly" colognes. Not unisex at all, imo. Lasts very well. Edit I read the comment below after I wrote mine, and we seem to agree 👍

This reminds me a lot of Prada Carbon but weaker. And it's quite a bit more expensive! Generally Novellista seems almost twice the price of what it would have to be before i would be interested in a full bottle.

This literally is just Dior Sauvage. You can just buy Armaf Ventana for 20% of the price, Ventana is bit less creamy and more sparkly. but it's still like 90% similiar in terms of smell.

Nice fragrance. Dior Sauvage clone with double the prise and half the longevity. Nothing more to say.
