Violet Charade

Yet another superb novellista, here I am not that big of a fan of the opening - it gives me a bit of playdough, not so much like in naxos or strong stuff like that, but it does, for like 5 minutes, after that its gone its divine. I usually get playdough when fragrance is quite strong so Perhaps a Good sign on the longevity and sillage, dont know havent tested enough. The name and notes here are misleading. It is violet and a lot of violet but not powdery at all! Its GREEN violet, even says on the card that comes with it. I skipped this one at first because I saw violet and I associate that with that feminine makeupy powdery vibe, but this is violet leaf not violet. In fact I get Zero powdery in this which differentiate this from layton. Definitely Layton vibes, with this one quite clear. But I Like it more, the violet is different and it feels more ballanced sweetness wise. I am so surprised noone mentions naxos with this one. It smells like drydown of Naxos. I dont love Naxos because the opening and first two three hours are just straightup playdough and screechy fight between citrus honey tobacco and vanilla, it changes every second and is very cloying, when it settles into drydown it smells a lot like this violet charade. I would say perhaps as similar to Naxos as to Layton. I also get jpg ultra male vibe - this one is definitely a Stretch, But the vanilla vibe feels similar - again violet charade Being much smoother and ballanced, also no Lavender. The Apple gives Hugo Boss edt vibe, which I dont hate, feels nostalgic. The scent evolves with each minute and is not linear, definitely Layton vibes First, getting more vanilla Naxos in the mid and soft Woods. After The Not so good opening it also feel very smooth and Natural. These Two things push it into the niche, otherwise the smell is very safe, super pleasant, somewhat unique , but kinda designer-ish. Safe blind buy. I would take a point off for the opening which is The Only synthetic playdough out of all novellista I Got so far. So 9/10. I would add two points for getting only better with time. I would add another one for the price. I bought 75ml for 40€. 40€ for niche quality fragrance, absolutely crazy, yes, heavily Discounted at Notino, but at this point its cheaper than crappy arabian dupes. 12/10, if you see this Discounted, Go buy it. Seriously. Even worth the 100€ Full retail It usually costs.

i read on the brand’s website that this is inspired by the novel “a thousand and one nights” and it makes sooo much sense. it’s dark and mysterious and it has an oriental feel. violet mixed with patchouli is the basis of the scent and i believe this will be great for a fall-winter date night, i find it seductive and there’s a kind of eroticism about it. it definitely smells niche and kind of “dusty” so in my mind, this will be paired greatly with a tobacco scent, as it gives off the same smoky vibe. worth trying it out.

I'm wearing it for 2 weeks now and it's beautiful. I like violet perfumes and this one is a beautiful combination of citrus and violet, great scent.

I was looking for a teleport back to 2010 when I was wearing Fahrenheit Absolute, and I discovered that the note I was craving most vas violet. This was the only violet that I could try at our local perfume store, and it worked well. Violet Charade is on the feminine side of unisex, nowhere near as complex as Absolute, but not a candied violet either. Doesn't last too long: 3 hours max on my wrists, more on the back of my neck, and then it's super close to skin and mostly vanilla (perfumes don't last long on me generally). The packaging is a bit excessive like they were trying too hard, but I loved the idea that it imitates a fancy book in a sleeve. What I didn't quite like was their aggressive sales strategy. Every time I came near the stand in our local big-chain perfume store, I would be attacked by a sales person telling me how awesome this new brand is, and how others (like the one I just tried at another brand's corner) are just not up to this standard. I am wondering if it's a store issue, but it didn't really make the brand look good to me. Come on.
