Horizonte

Horizonte O Boticário... ... is a beautifully crafted green and woody fragrance which I bought because of it being close to Van Cleef& Arpels Tsar. Tsar has always been my favourite green scent but unfortunately I never owned it and i only have vague memories of the way it smelled. So in a way i had to believe what i read here on Fragrantica. Horizonte comes very close to Tsar from what I can remember but is lacking the light floral background of Tsar. Horizonte is also fresher while Tsar is/was a darker green scent. Nevertheless I'm very happy with my purchase and the performance is quite good as well.

Horizonte was launched in 2020 and is part of the BotiCollection, which brings together the classics of O Boticário's perfumery under a single brand, such as Anni, Thaty, Portinari, etc. The idea here was to add a new fragrance to the portfolio. The fragrance was created by perfumer Verônica Casanova Marano, from IFF, who is also responsible for great hits for O Boticário, such as Accordes and Uomini, both from the 90s. The composition is woody-fougère and brings back the olfactory style of the masculine classics of past decades, such as Tsar, Jaguar for Men, etc. On the skin, the fragrance stands out for its combination of aromatic and woody tones. The top notes bring a lot of balsamic pine notes in contrast with the sweetness of mandarin and the green of fig leaves. The galbanum, known for its bitter nuances, didn't bother me here. In a few minutes, the body brings a lot of lavender (an essential note in fougères), a delicious rosemary, and, most importantly, a very ambery cashmere note, which adds softness. And even though the benzoin is there in the background, its sweet effect exudes from beginning to end, giving the fragrance a more modern personality. The performance is exemplary, and Horizonte proves to be an old-school perfume that is easy to use and quite versatile. And more than that: it gives options to those who are over 45 today, who lived through the golden age of world perfumery amid globalization and can no longer find options on the market that aren't too sweet, too flashy, too modern and lacking the sobriety and timeless elegance that this type of fragrance evokes. When this generation is gone, perhaps this type of fragrance will no longer be necessary on the market. And even so, I still have my doubts about it.
