Queen Vanilla

I love this scent so much that I have an unopened backup. It’s a very adult vanilla, ambery, herbal and almost medicinal. The notes listed are a bit off in my opinion, this is common for O Boticário fragrances in general, to me, it isn’t fruity whatsoever. It’s slightly gourmand in the sense you can smell that crème brûlée note once it dries down and later a bit of the caramel but the vanilla itself is not gourmand at all and all the sweet notes are balanced by the woody notes and that patchouli. When you first spray it, it’s almost sour (probably the bergamot or even the plum), as it dries it really pulls into the sweetness and after a while, it’s sweet, woody and spicy. After 30 minutes what you get is mostly the vanilla, myrrh, amber and sandalwood. An absolutely lovely fragrance to layer over a pure musk or a masculine, spicy, woody scent. I layer it with Narciso Rodriguez’s pure musk or Viktor & Rolf’s Spicebomb (the OG). As a stand alone scent it doesn’t last amazing but layered, it lasts forever and my skin isn’t known for holding up fragrances very well. Truly a shame that it was discontinued, using it over the body lotion was also such a good pair for a more everyday wear but alas, O Boticário and their persistent urge to discontinue anything and everything, this was the best affordable and truly unique vanilla scent in my opinion. If you like vanilla and can get your hands on a bottle, it’s very much worth it.

In my opinion, Queen Vanilla is not an intermediate perfume, but it still does not deserve the crown that its name indicates that it has had since its creation. Something was missing here for your coronation to be complete and definitive. The opening is fruity and very juicy, all the fruits are alive and pulsating, as if they had just been sliced; the highlight is the juiciness of the Peach in line with the Plum (spicy and acidic) and another delicious citric touch which I don't know where it comes from. Wow, the middle notes are a daydream for those who admire haute cuisine and especially patisserie cuisine, a mix of sweet delicacies, but everything in its proper place, nothing cloying or that deserves to be corrected. Anyone who understands French cuisine knows very well that even the eggs they weigh to be used in their intergalactic recipes! If O Boticário had left the 'bye' notes, only those of oriental origins, he would have been mayor and then he would have deserved his coronation and the title of Queen Vanilla, however, they added bitter caramel, a bit of Tonka and an artificial Vanilla that the thing got cloying and nothing so admirable... Wow, for a 'sad', what a pity.
