Gold Gem

This is definitely sister to the OG, maybe fraternal twins. I literally can't tell a difference unless I smell them side by side. That being said, I'll buy this over the OG forever. For the money, it's too good. I do have other Byredo's directly from the brand that I will forever repurchase the OG of, this dupe is just special enough I don't feel the need to invest. I love the first couple hours, but the dry down is DELICIOUS on my skin and will last for ages. I can smell it wafting through the air literally 24 hours after I last sprayed. It stays on clothes for daaaaays.

Actually and surprisingly this one IS wonderful! I'm blown away! 😲 Wow! Powdery, semi-sweet, woody, aquatic and fresh. Damm. So far has lasted about 7 hours on my arms and I'm honestly and sincerely impressed. 7/10 Without maceration. Imagine how much better it might get!

I absolutely love this smell .I enjoy the smokiness ;performance is average even when I overspray. But it smells beautiful!! I purchased 5 Oakcha and of all I reach for this the most . But longevity is poor . I will get the strong version of the OG when this is finished .

It smells identical to Bal d'Afrique, but Gold Gem has no staying power. The smell is divine, but the con is that it needs to be applied every hour if you want to smell like this all day.

I have the OG Bal D Afrique and the oakcha and they are virtually the same. The Oakcha is a tad more lemony but not to an average person. Most people would thinks its identical.

Yep. This dupe will do for me! The only difference I can detect is in the very initial opening. Byredo has a very fleeting and subtle white floral creaminess, richness and smoothness akin to tuberose/gardenia/magnolia--this might last up to 2 minutes on my skin (it's February in Minnesota and negative degrees outside so my skin is dry-keep that in mind) then it's identical to the Oakcha. Hot hot hot with the jasmine/neroli/orange blossom but a very arid heat thanks to the sweet (grass/vegetal sweet, NOT sugar sweet) vetiver. It really screams dry hot summer day. It's lovely! I would recommend this because the creaminess that the Byredo starts with really doesn't justify the price difference and within minutes they are interchangeable. Same same with longevity, sillage. Both are intimate/skin scents. Both have boring modern bottle designs. I read some people complaining about Oakcha being oily so I shake the bottle before application-maybe that's good, maybe not..? Also, the atomizer is so nice; super fine mist, very solid and easy to control if you're into half-sprays. I'll finish that I like that it's phlalate free; I usually break from frags when pregnant but I'd still wear this.

This is not what I was expecting it to smell like, I was expecting something much brighter and this to me is very dark. Almost like an Ood scent, but there's no ood in it 🤷♀️

Like sunshine in a bottle. Wear this on a grey, gloomy winter day and it will make you feel better!

Personally, I don't think this is a super accurate dupe of Bal d'Afrique. I think the OG has a lot more orange blossom, and has a depth and sophistication to it that this dupe doesn't quite replicate fully. This actually reminds me a little bit of smell of lemon cleaner because the lemon note in this one is very very prominent to my nose. Even though I'm not a huge fan of this perfume, I think it smells really nice layered with the L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia EDC, and Hermes Eau des Merveilles EDT! EDIT: Wow, okay, I revisited this after letting it sit in my dark closet for a while. For context, I got this perfume in the early summer and now it's November-- it's been like 4-5 months. I like this quite a lot now. I think it's the maceration. I don't get lemon cleaner anymore, it smells more cedary, powdery, and florally. I think it's a better dupe to Bal d'Afrique now that it's macerated.

I absolutely hated it. it's metallic and tangy idk for me not even close to the original its a shame tbh because bal d'afrique is expensive and I'm a college student can't afford it now lol

This is so lovely! I have no idea what the OG is actually like but this smells like a beautiful creamy, citrusy, flowery, vanilla mix that is both uplifting and very magnetic! One of my top blind buys. Opens up like an adult orange creamcicle with some florals and maintains a creamy and slightly lemony texture for a good 3-5 hours in dry down. Pairs amazing with Arabians Tonka.

Wow this smells just like Byredo’s Bal D’Afrique!! I honestly can’t really tell the difference between the Byredo one or the Oakcha one. Longevity is really good too, leaves an oil layer on your skin. Smells super clean, soft and citrusy

I want to live in a cabin in the woods, away from city life and this is the perfume I want to wear when I do live in said cabin. Like to layer it with Zara Applejuice

Bal d'afrique dupe, better dupes out there honestly. it was a good price but it becomes a skin scent after 5 mins and doesnt last long.
