Morning Rain

As a preface, I am new to the fragrance world, and I have not tried the original G Water this is based off of. But this makes me want to try it... and then I wonder, why would I pay for the expensive version of a scent I already thoroughly enjoy that has the most reasonable price tag I have ever seen? This lasts. All. Day. It is subtle, but after a full shift at work, I still smell it on my clothes. That incense note is just downright gorgeous. The initial sprays give you that peppery, citrusy zing, which mellows out into that incense-y, pine-y, almost mossy aromatic smell that verges on hippie in the best way. As someone who feels a rush of nostalgia when I smell smoke shop incense, this reminds me just enough of that smell to make me smile, but it adds complexity and a smoothness that elevates the scent as a whole with those amber-y, non-edible vanilla notes, that feel like a warm sweater wrapped around the scent. This is the only fragrance in my collection with incense that I wear to work; soft, subtle, clean, fresh, and aromatic. My only complaint is that sometimes, I find myself wishing this were just a tad bit stronger in terms of sillage. It's so gorgeous, I wouldn't mind the overwhelm if this had more of a punch. But other than that, the fragrance itself is an enchanting, subtle, dreamy symphony, even at its low volume.

An instant favorite. It's so gentle and refreshing. The citruses and juniper come out the most for me, with hints of perfectly blended incense and sandalwood. The base is faintly creamy -- not sweet, but you can tell the vanilla is there mellowing it out. It smells very much like a morning stroll near the woods. It's a bit overcast and foggy, just the lightest drizzle of rain coming down to kiss your cheeks, the scents of nature are being gently drawn out by the rain. They named this fragrance perfectly. I don't understand the complaints about the sillage. No, this scent does not project far. Gypsy Water is meant to be soft and delicate. Do you really want a blast of cleaning detergents in your face? That's what these notes would amount to if they were more potent. It smells exactly how it needs to, and this dupe achieves that at a fraction of the price. I wear this any time I'm in the mood for something light and fresh (usually after a few days of wearing heavy gourmands lol). 10/10.

This was my favorite fragrance out of the five Oakcha bottles I bought, and I love it so, so much. I only wish it lasted longer than 2 hours, but I've heard that's a problem with G Water as well. This is stunning. Such a beautiful combination of lemon and pine, two of my favorite notes. The orris root and vanilla/amber base just make this so comforting. It makes me think of baking a lemon dessert with the windows open while it rains. It makes me feel nostalgic in the best way.

The perfect everyday fresh fragrance. The fact that there's the juniper and (a gentler) pepper opening and how it transforms into the most invigorating pine heart makes it a total win and a perfect dupe for Gypsy Water. I have Tocca's Colette as well; it shares some similarities with GW, but Morning Rain is literally the EXACT thing and a waaaayy more affordable match. This is a permanent staple in my collection, I will forever rebuy it.

I got this in the Oakcha sample set, and instantly fell in love! I’ve never tried byredo gypsy water so I can’t speak to the similarity, but this scent stands alone, clone or not. a lovely woody lemon vanilla fragrance with fresh green notes, a hint of smokiness, and a creamy amber base. reminds me of a perfectly spiced lemon pound cake, warm and fresh. extremely versatile, my favorite from the sample set by far!

Like Gypsy water, This is one of the best dupes and best fragrances I've ever smelled. If I could smell like this 24 hours a day, I would! I want my clothing to smell like this, my house, my office and my car! LOL I just wish for that the longevity was longer, but I guess that's what reapplying is for! 😉

I'm from a cold humid climate with a lot of pine and Juniper trees around a lot of Rocky boggy muddy areas swimming in ponds in the rain. I tend to cut trees to burn to cook food and keep me warm. This scent reminds me of peaceful meditation times floating alone in ponds in the woods after the rain.

I hope the maceration helps with the longevity and sillage. I have the Replica Beach Walk dupe by Oakcha and it’s so intense, I was expecting this to have the same intensity considering it’s an extrait de parfum. However, this perfume doesn’t smell like anything I have smelled before! Very enjoyable

The name perfectly reflects the scent. Reminds me of hiking through the forest in late fall/early spring in British Columbia... it's cold, raining and misty, the trees are wet. Maybe someone somewhere has a fire going and you can pick up a hint of the smoke, but the air is still sweet and fresh...

I bought this awhile back and never used it. I recently purchased GW and then found this again today. Comparing the two, I’m shocked how similar they are. Probably not buying GW again.

Personal Visual Representation- (2008) Twilight playing on the small television in the living room, while the open window brings in a humming cricket and the suburban night sky.🌌🌲🌧️🦗🧛♀️ The notes are moderately complex with a cloying synthetique. 7.463/10 Sadly the pepper pulls very weak on my skin, instead bringing an initial strong sugared lemon peel with old artificial vanilla extract you find in the back of a kitchen shelf. After a few minutes the scent transforms to a more oakmoss masculine situation with a hint of flan with an overly caramelized syrup top. The residual body ends with a musky gourmand sweet giving off a moderate to intimate aroma. Similar to if you were to make a bouquet garni with a vanilla pod, pine needles, clove wrapped in a beeswax coated rope soaked in lemon oil, then lit on fire.

This fragrance is quite intimate within 5 minutes of spraying on my skin. It's a citrus/conifer type trees blast at first - which I am living for! I don't get any pepper. Only the slightest amber hiding in the background. After about 15mins, it mellows to a subtle vanilla. Purchased because I absolutely adore Byredo Gypsy Water (but can't handle the price tag.) They are VERY similar, Oakcha made a great dupe! Right down to the minimal lasting power. 🤣 🤦♀️ At this price, I don't mind reapplying. A good option for anyone looking for a decent GW dupe.

After drydown the citrus calms down and its incredibly close to g water. Enough that I dont need to get the og so it serves it's purpose. However longevity is poor, but so is the original. At least at this price i can afford frequent reapplication. Also was able to get it for 20 dollars on tiktok shop. Just dont add to cart but click on it a few times over the course of a couple days. Eventually you'll get the deal. This works for almost all oakcha and many other sellers.

Side by side this is a TAD bit more lemony than GW, and Morning Rain wins in longevity by a mile (GW longevity is abysmal). Nothing in this composition is "too much"-- the incense and pine are both very well balanced, so while this is earthy and mysterious, it's also soft and approachable. Very unisex. As someone who lives in a mild forest climate, this does feel like home-- like finding warm shelter on a cool rainy day.

I’m always looking for gypsy water dna, love the original, morning rain is maybe 80% similar especially when getting whiffs of it when sprayed on clothes, but it’s more sweeter fruity/lemony especially on top notes, heart notes are similar but it’s missing the cool woodiness on the base it doesn’t come close to the original. It’s a “like” not “love”

Whatever kind of vanilla Oakcha is using is causing it to come across as overly sweet compared to G water. If you find this to be the case when you first try it, give it a month or two for the vanilla to deepen (Oakcha doesn't let their fragrences mature before botteling like other houses).

Smells fantastic, like a fresh creamy vanilla citrus. The con is that the scent does not have any staying power, it lasts about 1 hour, then you need to reapply. The scent stays close to your skin, it doesn't project far.

This is an odd one to me. It smells gourmand at times with it's warm vanilla and amber but then it also smells fresh too with pine and juniper...a gourmand/fresh scent?? Either way it is very nice smelling!

This is nice. It’s a bit sweeter than the original, and i’m really missing most of the woody incense notes that I get from the original. Honestly it wears and projects better than the original as well.

The lemon and pepper add a refreshing touch and the dry down is very comforting and cozy. But, I do find the opening notes sharp and ever so slightly synthetic.

I have a sample of this from the company and I love, love, love the top and middle notes of this perfume, so it's a shame they fade within 5 minutes, leaving behind a basic lemony vanilla sandalwood. Someone compared it to a vanilla cake and I think that's apt, which is unfortunate because I don't like those gourmand, candle-esque scents. I think I could find a body spray for half the price that projects better and still has the same scent as the dry down. Since the fresh spicy top notes are so brief, I probably won't be purchasing a full-size bottle. Very disappointing, if they're able to fix this formula it would easily become a favorite for me.

I want to like this because it is unique and totally makes me think of hiking in a moist pacific northwest forest. But at the end of the day for me personally, the vanilla, pine, and lemon just do not blend together. They are just sitting in a circle awkwardly staring at each other not talking. And the citrus is offensive to me it is very metallic like someone else said, on paper and on my skin. I let it macerate for two weeks but I can’t wait any longer and I will be returning this.

A light, peppery, and woody scent. Not for me, but I know many people who would enjoy this. I’ve never tried Byredo Gypsy Water so I can’t comment on any similarities. On the initial drydown, I get lemon, bergamot, pepper, and a hint of incense. I don’t get any pine, but I’m not complaining about that. As it wears, the vanilla and amber come through to give a slightly deeper scent, though it remains pretty fresh. It’s pretty faint with very minimal sillage and lasts about 5 hours.

Looking to offload my FS bottle w/box if you still want to give it a try after reading this. Not a safe blind buy. Haven’t smelled G-Water but the notes seemed intriguing. I love a woody ambery vanilla and citrus/pepper top notes. This doesn’t deliver any of it. When I first got this the top note was a bit of bergamot and terpines that dried down quickly to sweet incense and playdoh. After sitting for several months it’s gotten even worse. The citrus is now metallic and harsh. The vanilla - as playdoh-y as it was - is gone. The dry down is just straight incense. The good (?) news is that the longevity is still solid. 6 hours or more at least.

I loved this when I first applied! So much so that I was like wow maybe this could be my signature scent. However after about an hour the dry down was sickening. It smelled very dental on my skin. I had to go scrub it off it was bad

UPDATE: Completed a bottle in the late summer. Am undecided if I’ll repurchase, despite enjoying it and receiving compliments. I probably wouldn’t have gravitated towards this scent if I didn’t fall head-over-heels in love with this via a discovery set. Aromatic, fresh and unisex (slightly feminine leaning) Morning Rain is srsly beautiful and a big compliment getter. This is an easy go-to for the warmer months. Projection is on the lighter side of moderate, so anticipate needing to reapply if you aren’t one for a skin scent. Very little sillage. It’s an office and/or medical building safe fragrance bc of how fast it evaporates. While I am not a huge citrus fan (odd for an aromatic lover, I know), I find this scent stunningly pretty. It can def pull lemon-y, or even like a lemon dessert, on some ppl. Totally worth it for $35 from Oakcha and worth the $15 for trying it in their discovery set!

This one had to grow on me, or maybe it just got better after maceration. I initially felt something irritating with the combination of anything with lemon or pine, as they remind me of car air fresheners that made me nauseous. I also tested it out during winter, and perhaps it felt too sharp on my nose during that time. Then I started wearing a musk therapy dupe which I absolutely loovee (infini musk), and was reminded of something in musk therapy that was also in morning rain / g water So i tried morning rain again today, on a rainy spring day, and something clicked, i quite like it now! It smells almost as if you have those fruit loops cereals close to your nose but without the milk. It gives a brightness without being overly citrus, i think it's perfect for spring.

was gifted this bottle from a friend and i have to say it smells exactly like gypsy water by byredo! i sprayed one arm with gypsy water and one arm with morning rain. morning rain lasted a lot longer! unfortunately, i dont know how much of a fan i am of either. i love the opening, but then the dry down is fully giving lemon cake (if thats your thing, then definitely get it!) either way, this is a much better price point for the longevity alone

I bought a sample of this in a discovery set earlier this year and completely forgot about it till I tried it on today! At first I thought it was a dupe for some type of Chanel because I was first hit with a note that reminded me of Chanel’s powdery aldehyde accord, until I realized it was something different. It’s quite unique and I like it. It’s a very clean fragrance. This is perfect for upcoming autumn days.

The pepper and juniper hit hard like ambrette on steroids. I had to look at the list of notes again to make sure, but ironically, ambrette isn’t listed. The dry down is nicer and very amicable with non-edible vanilla interacting with scratchy sandalwood underneath cushy orris root. The vanilla and sandalwood are reminiscent of Escada Magnetism for men (2004).

I have Gypsy Water by Byredo from 2019 & just recently was gifted this fragrance, Morning Rain by Oakcha. This fragrance is strong & carries a very strong resemblance to Byredo’s but Oakchas version has more of a lemon pound cake sent to it as opposed to Byredo hint of supple leather. However, the sillage will definitely fool most -the wearer I’m not so sure.

On a whim, I layered this with Kayali Yum Bougie Marshmallow and I am digging it on a sunny coolish spring day. Tones down the sweetness of YBM and the vanillas and woods dry down together nicely into a cozy sweet close to the skin scent bubble. Want to try this with Skylar Boardwalk Delight too.

This is a perfect going to bed scent
