Une Vanille

I had been given a sample and didn’t think much of it initially—I already owned my pure vanilla love, Tihota. I decided to try it on a whim after learning about the company more and deciding I love their ideals regarding sustainability (I do think this industry can do far better on that front), and fell totally head over heels. It’s such a delicious fluffy vanilla that bounces on a cloud of light musk. I rarely ever get real life compliments on fragrance from strangers, but I had three (!!!) people ask me what I was wearing at work. I thought it had become a skin scent, but every once in a while I would get wafts of baby soft vanilla bean paste. It seems to radiate around you like an aura, surprising you occasionally with a gentle kiss of mild sweetness. I sprayed it on before dinner time at night and even the next morning, my spouse could smell it on me (though after about nine to ten hours it clung to clothes and hair heavily, skin not so much). I preferred it so much to Tihota that I even sold that bottle because I found that I was neglecting it—I just like the way Une Vanille really does the subtle base of musk more than the excess warm musk in Tihota that my skin pulls so much. On me, definitely a bit sweeter than other reviewers seem to say, but definitely has unisex potential.

A powdery tonka and vanilla almond croissant, minus the dough. This stays the elegant side of a gourmand perfume thanks to a very sensitively constructed powdery accord that echoes Caron's Farnesiana. Possibly the ratings penalize it due to it being predominantly almond/tonka rather than vanilla, and not having the sacharrine sweetness of some other gourmand vanillas. However, for those who love slightly pared down gourmands with a powdered, sugared almond base, this might be a true love. For my part, I love this, but select it when I fancy tonka. Une Vanille is warm and wearable, and very much a cozy hug in a bottle. It layers wonderfully with both cherry and orange blossom fragrances. I love the Obvious line's ethics, quality and approach and think this is a winner.

It smells like my favorite unburned Japanese sweet sandalwood incense. I know sandalwood isn’t listed but it does to my nose. Milky, cozy, romantic. Versatile and suitable for everyday. On my skin it has enormous longevity. Good sillage. I’m happy it doesn’t progress. The initial sweet unburned incense stays throughout its life span, which is long.

It smells like a simple butter cookie. It doesn't feel cheap at all. I think it's perfect as a base for layering.

respectfully........i think there's a lot going on in here. here are the things i like about it: 1. it brings to mind a soft, billowy, cloud of marshmallow 2. i get a hint of burnt match on the opening 3. i also get cardamon on the drydown (?!?!?) 4. cumulatively, it has the effect of a musky rice pudding skin scent 5. it lasts at least 6 hours on me 6. it layers beautifully (right now i have al rehab choco musk underneath and...pretty sure i snapped w/ this one) 7. a 3.4 oz is like $65 on fragrancenet 8. i think it works for all seasons and any time of day 9. i really want to make this a rounded list of 10 10. ten sillage is minimal, so it'd be great for the gym or the office. it's definitely one of those things that i'm wearing for Me, not Other People i definitely don't detect any play-doh, cake mix, or doll head, but i wouldn't be mad about it if i did. i've smelled TONS of vanillas over the years, including those widely considered to be the "best". une vanille isn't in that conversation, but that's ok. it's still worthwhile to have in my collection. if everyone wore nothing but escapade gourmande and spiritueuse double vanille and tihota, we'd all smell the same. thanks for coming to my tedtalk.

Very nice, realistic vanilla. Not too sweet, which I love, but rather spicy and creamy like a fresh vanilla pod. It would be great for layering to add sweetness to some scents like Obvious Un Bois or Scoville. I think it would be a smart move from Obvious to sell smaller sizes or layering kits that you can personalize with the fragrances you like, since, in my opinion, their fragrances are not complex enough to wear on their own (if you are a fragrance enthusiast).

There's nothing extaordinary about this, but there's nothing wrong either. This is a simple, very wearable fragrance. Simple sweet vanilla musk, however in the drydown there's something reminiscing my childhood, and it's not playdough for sure, but there was some doll or toy that kinda smelled like this and i enjoy it.

This fragrance is very simple and nothing unique about it, but it shouldn't deserve such a low rate. In fact it's a very comforting and easy-to-reach scent. It's just a powdery and light-wearing vanilla. It somehow somewhat reminds me of something I own, Shunkoin without the strong coconuty facet.

This scent sits very close to the skin; I had to get very close to my arm to smell it. To me, it smells exactly like vanilla pudding. I think it would work well layered with other scents.

the opening was VANILLA, but the dry down was disappointing. Reminiscent of playdoh. Update: the scent grew on me and it gives simple musky vanilla

I like the Play-Doh dry down. Oops. Not worth the money, though if this was any cheaper I’d probably buy it.

A dry vanilla, warm for cold days. Tonka is here. Not too sweet. Linear, no surprise, for vanilla lovers!

Very straightforward musk & vanilla. Powdery, soft, light. I’m all for a simple fragrance (simplicity is the goal of the Obvious line, after all) however here the execution misses the mark. There’s a screechy, synthetic quality to Une Vanille that prevents me from enjoying what should be a comforting, linear scent. Imo, this frag is inferior to other iterations of this combo, such as Vanilla Musk by Nemat. Not bad, just redundant.

A very playdoh-reminiscent vanilla that dries down to a more natural version of its opening. the longevity is amazing in clothes, but the scent didnt blow me away. kind of dry and plasticky, but probably fitting nicely for layering, though not on its own.

A nice, soft non-offensive vanilla musk. This brand is all about simple, and that’s what we have here in Une Vanille. But this also feels unfinished. I would hope for an unusual note to give this a twist and it’s absent.

Pleasant, sweet and powdery vanilla with musky base. Minimalistic scent, that could work well for layering. I don't think it's worth the money but if you like vanilla it might be worth checking out.

I get that this line is supposed to be affordable, but really--where's the vanilla?! I get a whiff of tonka and that's about all she wrote. Outremer Vanille is a far better budget vanilla.

The opening is very marzipan-like on my skin, unfortunately. It sits very close to the skin and it is gone within 10 minutes. Maybe there's something wrong with my sample.

This is a very straightforward vanilla and musk Fragrance. The vanilla is slightly sweet, but not overly sweet, and the musk is not overdone. That being said, I do notice the musk, and as I struggle with many synthetic musk molecules this one is a pass for me. Reminds me quite a bit of the Nemat Vanilla Musk fragrance oil.

Started out like boxed cake mix, then play doh.

It's okay. I got a really generous sample of this with an order and it smells a lot like Ambra Aurea from Profumum, just not as spicy. I like simple fragrances but this is pretty much a tonka bean soliflore so it's a meh for me. I don't get a lot of musk and it made me itch a little bit where I dabbed it on lol. This would honestly be great "masculine" gourmand as I think tonka works well with men's chemistry and it's not sugary in anyway; it's basically great for wearing with a clean white cotton shirt and nice jeans for some afternoon shopping.

I compared it (on two wrists) with Tihota by Indult because it also just has vanilla tonka bean and musk. This one is a bit easier on the nose, it's the "filtered" vanilla/vanillin note, very straight and unpretentious. Tihota is the unadulterated vanilla absolu with its slightly "dirty" vanilla pod facet which is for aficionados (but it's also much stronger). I agree that Une Vanille either for the die hard vanilla lovers or for layering. A tiny it too obvious (pun intended) for me, but I can see that it would have its market.

I love vanilla. I own quite a few and have sampled dozens more. Une Vanille is the one I reach for most often.... Not because it’s mind blowing. But because it is easy to wear and always smells good on me. I don’t always want to smell like a thing - a vanilla cupcake or a latte. Sometimes I just want to smell nice and this does it for me. It’s a powdery musky vanilla on my skin. It’s light and fluffy. It works in all seasons.

This is a muted vanilla, not sickly sweet but still has a gourmand elements. I always overspray it when I wanted it to project. It’s a very good layering scent like the Vanilla 28 from Kayali. My favorite is when I layer it with Commodity Milk. Combination of sweet, smoky, woody & lactonic. What more could you ask for? It’s a versatile vanilla, you can wear it all year round.

This one is okay to me. It's not FB worthy in my vanilla collection, but it's a descent vanilla. In my opinion, there is something a bit cloying to to this and I can't determine which note it is....The vanilla is almost just TOO THICK or something.....But overall, IMO this vanilla is VERY similar to Alexandria's Vanille Doree, except I prefer Vanille Doree to this one.

This is probably one that can really differ based on your skin. I was initially really excited when I sampled this as it began as a spiced, rich, and full bodied baking vanilla. But then...it just dried down to musty craft store. If you’ve ever had a bad experience with perfume oils you will likely know the exact dreaded smell I’m referring to.

Very straightforward warm vanilla..maybe even slightly spicy. I’ve had my gourmand phase so I can identify similar vanillas, this one is very similar to Dulce by By Rosie Jane! I’d say they differ in that Dulce is brighter and creamier, Une Vanille is warmer for sure. Its really simple though, if you want a cute yummy vanilla this is it :)

Very nice vanilla with medium projection. The musk reminds me of a cashmere scarf. It's understated but complex, the vanilla and musk mix together into the scent of vanilla on expensive knitwear, the scent of an upscale bakery soaked into a cable-knit white sweater. It gives "elegant French Old Money heiress" vibe.

Pretty lackluster for me...more tonka than vanilla as the first review mentions w/ minimal sillage...though the sample is a dabber I still expect better oomph given the amount I slathered on my forearms. You'll find there are many who'll wed for a penny...there are lots of good vanillas in the sea.

Perfect non gourmand tonka vanilla. It’s so simple but this is precisely what sets this fragrance apart because it’s not sweet and not everyone wants a cute edible vanilla. Muted and sterile but in a very good way. Doesn’t smell like a candle or immature. Sometimes smells like skin.

A woody vanilla drenched in tonka. A nice layering fragrance or if you’re in the mood for something minimalistic. Billie has a body wash called Bounce Creamy Vanilla Cedar & it smells really similar to Une Vanille. They layer nicely with each other.

the opening is a really nice basic vanilla that's not too sweet and a bit like Un Bois Vanille by Serge Luten's dry down but the dry down on this one is a bit plasticky and it's more of a skin scent so i would prefer the Serge Lutens

I was surprised to notice sadonaso resembling notes during my instore testing. Bought it just now. I feel, it may be something worthy, especially with ambroxan enhancers. Will keep updated. Planning to write a review.
