Madeleine

I genuinely expected to hate this but kept hearing how Odette's gourmands were less cloying and more airy & palatable so I tried this along with a few others and a heavy dose of skepticism. So far, almond has been a hard one for me in most perfumes and I always hate coconut so I was really taking a chance. Like Petit Gateau, this opens with straight up almond extract (ironically my favorite smell on earth) with an added dash of sweet coconut. It quickly dries down to a much softer, photorealistic madeleine cookie that lasts all day but is never, ever cloying no matter how much I spray. The coconut is definitely there, but not blaringly obvious and does not at all smell like coconut "fragrance," i.e. sunscreen and beaches, but more like toasted coconut in baked goods. You get gentle wafts throughout the day and up close it is just as soft and YUMMY. The more I wear it, the more I love it. If you typically find gourmands kind of gross but wished you liked them, this one is for you (along with Petit Gateau because realistically they are nearly identical). If gourmands typically give you headaches, this one likely won't as it does not contain the common allergens found in most.

after sampling pas de chat, i knew i wanted to explore more from odette. i have also been on the hunt for a coconut-forward fragrance, and this might actually be it! what i love is that it is not just coconut. there is a lot more going on here. i get the almonds, i get the sugar, and there is this really soft creaminess tying everything together. this smells like baking, but not the part where something is in the oven. it smells like having all the ingredients laid out on the counter, measuring everything out before it all comes together. as it develops on my skin, it feels like that mixing process finally begins. the real showstealer for me though is the coconut. specifically sweetened shredded coconut. it is so realistic and so comforting that i keep going back for another sniff. i absolutely love this one. it feels warm, cozy, and delicious without ever becoming too simple.

I uncovered this gem on a mad hunt for an almond croissant fragrance after hearing mixed reviews about Mirage Gourmand (and frankly, not wanting to shell out for that bottle.) This has exceeded my expectations so far beyond what I could have imagined. A heavy dose of marzipan paste and coconut cream on a base of deep tonka and vanilla that add that bakery warmth. It’s such a romantic gourmand. At $92 for 100ml this is utterly mind blowing. I also picked up three other fragrances in travel size and was thoroughly impressed by all of them. The scent profiles of all of these are cohesively soft and feminine with a gentle, dancing scent bubble, perfectly matching the coquettish ballet vibe of the brand. For what is relatively new indie house, this is a brand that feels so fully realized. I am head over heels. Odette is most definitely one to watch.

sampled this and went out to buy a dirty chai latte and madeleines to ruminate. sniffed the madeleines i bought, sniffed my wrists, went back and forth for a good five minutes until i pictured how weird i must've looked. good news though; this captures madeleines better than any other madeleine inspired frag i've ever tried ever. it smells like a sweet, airy little pastry and the coconut + almond combination really makes it work and veer almost realistic to the madeleines i had in my purse. it's so delicious. the type of perfume that makes me sniff my wrists constantly. i want to replicate the euphoria of inhaling my obligatory sweet treats so i will be on the hunt for a dirty chai scent to pair with this in order to relive my most precious joie de vivre. i need this in my bloodstream, merci odette

this scent is a light, fresh coconut scent with some beautiful vanilla frosting and some almond cake. the sillage is intimate to moderate and the longevity is moderate. as the scent wears through the day, the vanilla really shines through and becomes almost buttercream-like. all that said, this isn't a lactonic, butter cookie scent. this is a great summer gourmand as it is sweet but not at all cloying or that sunscreeny beachy scent. i highly recommend!!

This smells similar to Petit Gâteau, but with coconut and more cake. Coconut can be hit or miss for me, but thankfully this one is a hit. It's creamy and milky, and doesn't go sunscreen or tropical at all. Absolutely nailed it. So delicious, so beautiful, and perfectly gourmand. Like the other Odette Parfum fragrances, it's quite soft and intimate. I would love a stronger formulation.

Instantly obsessed. Soon as I sprayed my sample I knew I'd be putting this one on my wishlist. Smells like a birthday cake, so not an every day perfume for me, but it does stay close to the skin. Update: I’m so happy I finally ordered a 30mL :)

A coconut macaroon with a delicate, pleasantly warm coconut note. It’s gentle, never veering into suntan lotion territory. It smells like it was just pulled fresh from the oven—comforting and delicious.

I got this perfume for christmas, and it smells AMAZING. To me, it smells exactly like when you whip together butter and vanilla extract to bake cookies. Reminds me of home.

This scent is downright impressive. It is the most fresh coconut perfume I’ve ever smelled, like freshly grated coconut atop a cake. WOW

Quite similar to Petit Gateau to my nose, but with a coconut twist. Similarly difficult to smell at first, then eventually coming out in little sillage puffs. I wouldn't call it a beachy coconut, though it does add a summer-y flair. Sweet and bread-like, like a Madeleine, maybe with a glaze on top. I wish I got more almond, one of my favorite food smells, but it is a notoriously difficult note for me to detect in perfumes. I have to echo the previous reviewer on how well-thought-out this brand and its scents are for being quite new. The prices are also quite reasonable, though if I could offer one suggestion, it might be to seek out a cheaper shipping carrier for domestic sample orders.

First of all, Odette the perfumer is a delight to do business with and offers outstanding customer service. I’m a lover of coconut, but I’ll be the first to admit I have some beach fatigue. Madeleine is probably the most gourmand coconut in my collection. It smells exactly like the sweetened coconut creme reduction I pour over mango sticky rice. Super warm and sugary, simmering away, reducing down to something impossibly rich. Nothing about this gives me beach or sunscreen—in fact, I think it will be better for fall and winter.

I received this perfume a week ago, and I am obsessed! I have been on the hunt for a delicious super-feminine perfume for a while when I came across this one. At first whiff, I don’t know why but I got a really artificial scent from it and wasn’t a huge fan, but when I sprayed it again a few days later- It really felt so much sweeter and authentic to the French Bakery vibe I’d been going for. Definitely a perfume that gets better with time. I really love this perfume and it’s blended so well!! Can’t wait to order more.

Very nice coconuty marzipan. Smells very similar to Petit Gateau, but maybe a more floral and feminine undertone to it. However, it really doesn’t last. The scent is really nice, but I feel like my skin eats it right up. I think if I have a craving for a Madeleine type of fragrance I would go more for Pas de Chat, where this perfume is basically the opening, but there’s a whole other journey on the bottom.

smells like dipping coconut cake in frothed milk. it’s light enough to wear in warm weather, a perfect pick for a summer gourmand. fluffy, beachy, and creamy. makes me wish i was sunbathing while sipping on a piña colada.

Very realistic almond-gourmand. Slightly bitter, like the smell of almond filling in an almond croissant. It's great for layering! I do like very much.

This is a very nutty, buttery, lightly sweet take on a bakery fragrance. Smells delicious for the first 30 minutes of wear, but very quickly fades. Sits very close to the skin within those 30 mins as well.

Decadent and I didn't even think I'd like this one! Very similar to the Petit Gateau/Coup de Pied but starts off with a slight toasted coconut nuance (not tropical at all and it doesn't last longer than 1 hr) and then turns into that same delicious incense buttery cake Oddette DNA that is addictive and intoxicating and mouth watering. Like the other Odettes I have, this doesn't last very long. I have to layer them with my neutral woody or gourmand scents to get a full work days wear out of it otherwise it is gone by lunch. If Odette could figure out a way to make these last a few hours longer I would probably have many more in my collection even though I don't typically like gourmands. These are just a whole unique vibe and every girl who has even a passing interest in gourmands should give this brand a go. I reccomend Coup de Pied first and this one second from what i've tested if you are trying this brand for the first time 🥰

I’ve had an obsession with pastry inspired perfumes for a while now and I think Madeleine might be my favorite find of all time. It’s truly a madeleine pastry scent- a fluffy cake and sweet almond/marzipan confection in a bottle. It’s got a creamy, almost buttery facet that lends itself to the idea of a “fresh out of the oven” confection and wearing it transports me immediately to a bustling French cafe. While beautiful on its own, I also really enjoy pairing this scent with some of my linear orange blossom scents (like Zara Fleur d’Oranger or the original Gisou hair perfume), as well as more almond forward body products (like the L’Occitane almond shower oil).

Odette Madeleine is giving what I had hoped for from Replicas Afternoon Delight. The latter failed to deliver whereas Odette Madeleine hit the nail on the head. It’s such a delicately delicious scent with the perfect balance of sweetness without being cloying. The vanilla marzipan and almond cake notes are perfectly blended and you really do get that delicate cookie vibe! I’m in love!

Similar to Petite Gateau, the difference is the added coconut. The coconut in here is not tropical but chewy and shredded. It doesn’t really smell like a fluffy cake per se, it’s more like a plastic cake or a faux cake; I do enjoy a plastique type accord though. So this isn’t an edible gourmand but still very delicious. This scent is also very similar to Soleil from Gloss Moderne.

This is nice! it has a very subtle coconut, almond scent, the vanilla whipped cream/butter feels almost realistic. It is a cozy, cute little scent. It opens with some synthetic notes but they go away fast. Then it stays like a true gourmand scent. Not much projection. It is ok.

Biscuity, delicate, and coconut-forward. I really love this scent! It smells like a perfect buttery madeleine. I really enjoy the fact that this company makes their gourmands smell realistic and not rely on being sugary sweet. Their scents are all very balanced and pretty.

it smells like fluffy madeleine cookies dipped in a light coconut milk froth. hints of marzipan and tonka adds coziness while the coconut brings a light, airy sweetness. it feels like sitting outdoors at a cafe, feeling the breezes of spring softly give way to summer.

What I love about this perfume is that I can only pick out the notes if I go back and review them because it is blended so nicely into the perfect delicious, cozy and softly sweet fragrance. It’s a beautiful fragrance and you just can’t go wrong with it!

This is pretty boring. It smells lightly sweet and mainly like coconut. It also smells very similar to Odette Petit Gateau which leans in on almond and tonka but gives more bang for your buck. ✨

This is so ethereal and SO beautiful. Definitely more of a skin scent, but it lasts for hours on me. I have four from Odette and love them all, though this is the one I reach for most!

Coconut done perfectly. I am so sensitive to coconut scents but this is so sweet and decadent. Paired with the almond gives it almost a « clean girl » feel. I am in love!!
