Nuit D'été

In light of this one being available tomorrow (for a limited time), I dug out my sample to give her a full go. As a devout lover of Odette's gourmands (Pas de Chat and Petit Gateau being very strong loves for me), I'm actually shocked by how little gourmand I get from this scent, despite its sorbet, cake, cream, and vanilla notes! To my nose, it is a mildly sweet, piney-resinous, and lightly peppered lemon scent with dainty white florals and a musky cedar base. I don't find the vanilla to be very noticeable, and I don't detect Odette's signature cakey DNA in here. The elemi is very prominent to me, and is the primary note that makes this deviate from the closet scent in my scent memory: Byredo's G Water! They're not so similar when I tested side by side, but the overall effect is closer to G Water's aromatic freshness than it is to a lemon gourmand to me.

My first impression of this really brought Big Floppy Flowers to mind from Pearfat, that lemony greenness but without the peppery bite of BFF. This is more gentle. It’s like if lemon sorbet melted into a moonlit pool of greenery. And lemon sorbet and not sherbet specifically as this is an unsweetened green. This would layer well with a myriad of fragrance profiles to add a little faerie sparkle like sweet, dense florals that could use some airing out. And would also smell good with other sweet citruses or honeyed scents as well to cut through the sweetness. I layer it with my sweet fruity floral fragrances at night to create a cloud of lemon-tinged sweetness.

a gourmand floral that reminds me of a psychedelic tea party where all the guests are fed absurd amounts of luxury lemon sorbet and cakes with lots of icing. incredibly indulgent while being as cute as a button. citrus + a fluffy and creamy sweetness

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Her by Who is Elijah is incredibly similar if you need something to tide you over until this is one day released again. Citrus Blonde by Lake and Skye is very similar too as well since recently trying!
