OBO#302 Smoked Oud

Well, after trying 7 of the OK Fine Fragrances offerings, I can honestly say that while I loved all of them for the amazing smells, not one of them lasted past a cripple of hours on me. I am so very sad, because I would have both the Patchoulis right then and there had the lasted, and the Blond Oud was great, too. Bummer. If they ever get the longevity up to something more than a couple of hours, I'll be fully on board!

Opens mildly-sweet & balsamic then dries down to a warm, smokey, & resinous woody-spicy incense. Very calm & mature. Heck this would smell amazing in cold weather! The resinous smell of Smoked Oud reminds me a lot of another fragrance but I can't put my finger on it. Something probably by Amouage. It sure has Amouage's niche vibe. It is also similar to Vince Camuto's Smoked Oud & has the same warm spicy feeling. Funny they share the exact same name. I'm surprised cinnamon is not listed here because I can smell it, or something like it. Honestly, I'm not sure how "white oud" smells. I've never tried it. But OBO#302 Smoked Oud smells different than East Asian ouds that are popular in the Arabic world. Still, OBO has a woody Middle Eastern vibe, like it was something you'd smell in perfume shop in a traditional Arabic souq (market). I can't appreciate if the aging in "bourbon seasoned American oak barrels" did anything to the smell. As a consumer who haven't smelled OBO prior to aging, I can't detect anything different or special about it. Overall, a nice warm spicy scent that could make the rankings of "best winter/fall fragrances". The performance seems to disappoint me, though. I'm getting skin scents within <30mins of spraying. We'll need more people to chime in on that. Could be my skin only. Also, big thanks for OK Fine Fragrances. Ordered a sample of OBO & received a free sample of AMO. Sampling OK Fine Fragrances OBO – Oud Bourbon Oak, and like AMO, which I previously sampled, OBO is very likable from the start—boozy, woody, and semi-sweet. The description is curiously complex, a mix of blond oud, ginger, sandalwood, juniper berries, and olibanum, with smoky oak hints as well. I don’t detect the juniper in particular but there’s definitely a bourbon-meets-woods-and-smoke vibe to it, somewhat springy and spicy via the ginger, but not to the point of being overwhelmingly smoky and/or spicy. And there’s a sense of richness and subtle sweetness to it without it being wholly sumptuous or over-the-top. It’s restrained and refined, with resinous that give a sort of creamy vibe, bridging the bourbon and woods. Like AMO, OBO is an easy winner for those who enjoy hints of spirits played on in a fantastical way. Like most boozy fragrances, OBO does not smell a lot like bourbon, but it plays off of the bourbon note and builds something interesting around it, making for a great fragrance for cold weather wearing, especially, though I wouldn’t mind wearing OBO (or AMO, for that matter) on a summer evening to make an impression. OBO performs well and is priced at $165/90 for 54/30ml and is sold by Perfumology. The newer batch is slightly pricier, it seems, through the house website itself, at $95 for 30ml. Overall, I’m impressed and will have to give both OBO and AMO some serious thought, along with trying more fragrances from OK fine 8 out of 10

Sweet smokey oud. This one i believe could be the best selling one for those who enjoys smokey sweet woods (minus the name of course). I don't sense any oud in here rather than woods in a smokey sweet mix with doses of tingly ginger, & smokey olibanum. I get big chunks of junipers and smokey olibanum. Cute after all and by far the cutest from the line that i have tested so far.

Ordered just a sample expecting, well, a Smokey oud. Got something much better. This is a very smooth oud with noticeable ginger and juniper berries. The combination works perfectly and this can be worn anytime anywhere. A super nice smelling fragrance with excellent longevity. Doesn’t scream oud by any means but it’s always there. Ordered a full bottle.
