Woody

I have been wearing my sample of this all day and the more I wear it the more I love it. At first I was a bit underwhelmed. However, as the day has worn on, I have grown to appreciate that it has subtle charms. This perfume is supremely comforting. It is a really creamy amber, everything is blended incredibly well and I think that's why I wasn't hooked at first. It isn't a showy perfume. She's a sleek, sophisticated lady who knows her worth and won't be swayed by a fad. She's all soft silk, aromatic swishes and merino wool, in shades of chocolate and umber. You don't notice her at first and then you cannot forget her. This reminds me of Molton Brown's Milk Musk. Another perfume I initially didn't care for at first but kept coming back to whenever I needed something soothing. If I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, Milk Musk never fails to calm me and settle my frantic thoughts. It has become a firm favourite, especially at bedtime after a bury, stressful day. I could see this doing the same. It has a very similar, softy seductive vibe.

Notes looked so promising, but the overall effect is of a very dry woody scent. This quality reminds me of Papyrus Oud. I don't mind this per se, but I feel it needed something extra to give it an extra dimension. But, lovers of woody scents should give this a test. Performance was average though.

As the name suggests, it is the woody notes that predominate in this scent at every stage as it evolves on the skin. To me, it came across as modern, distinctive (although there are many woody fragrances out there) and quite lovely. It is also very long-lasting and, for a niche perfume house, reasonably priced. So far Olfactive O has brought out 5 perfumes: Woody, Oriental, Floral, Fruity and Skin. Each is described in terms of a personality type and I can’t decide if this is annoyingly cliched or fun. You can tell from the names that these aren’t going to be ground-breakingly original, but each seems to me to be well worked-out and a good example of the type.

I can see the escentric comparison for sure. Very piercing cedar and pepper start. A touch soapy, lots of sandalwood and plenty of resins. Very unisex. I love this but the cedar note is a little too much for me. Other than that 9/10 though! I will update on longevity...
