Violet Shot

I've been searching for a more "feminine" floral fragrance to switch out with my usual go-to unisex fragrances. Resins, ouds, woods, spices, etc...I wear some permutation of these notes each & every day. I've always adored violet notes when they are well blended with petals, leaves, stems, woods, vanillas, etc. I recently purchased a few Violet Perfume Samplers, so I can explore new fragrances. I also faithfully follow Sebastian, "The Perfume Guy" on his YouTube Channel. Sebastian raved about Violet Shot by Olfactive, so I had to give it a try. Love, love, love, love, love. Violet Shot is a straight-forward, violet-centric perfume but man-oh-man...it is lovely, evoking and complex minus any pretense. On me, VS opens as straight-away violet leaves 'n fresh, herbaceous green stems but with a bit of juiciness, or jammy-ness (if this makes sense). The opening of VS sends me over the moon. And for me, true love is when I experience a surreal opening perfume note and it remains, or repeats throughout the wear. Do you know that disappointment you experience when the opening of a perfume is lovely but short lived then absent? You will not experience that loss with Violet Shot. As time passes, a lovely, warm, creamy & slightly smoky incense note envelopes the opening notes and seems to pull the violet right into its center. To me, the experience is dreamy. And as a smooth, powdery, earthy labdanum, creamy vanilla and sweet patchouli move in, I realize I am also experiencing something glorious: safraleine. So, safraleine is a relatively new element in the perfume niche market. Apparently its fragrance is one of warmth & spice, leathery tobacco, saffron and something akin to young rose. I am speechless. And this is how Violet Shot remains. Longevity is 6 hours+ and silage is medium. A few years back, I recall ordering a shea butter-based, homemade body butter with violet, violet stems and something woody & resinous as its notes. When the package arrived, I realized the entire body butter product had spilled out into the box because the container had cracked. I never forgot the way that box smelled when I opened it. Violet Shot is reminiscent of the scent in that box, only better. This fragrance is an absolute new love for me. Depending on what develops with my arriving samples, I think Violet Shot and I will be together for quite some time to come.

Violet shot is part of Olfactive studio Sepia series where they have 6 fragrance and they have done very well in getting best perfumers like Bertrand Duchaufour And Dominique Ropion to create this series– Violet shot is created by Mr Ropion who has great pedigree with perfumes like FM POAL and La Nuit l’homme under his belt. As you spray this perfume you smell fresh cut green grass with a citrus under tone and it reminds me of early mornings where we were waiting in cricket ground to play cricket but gardener was first cutting the grass to make the ground perfect and the smell which was in the air is exactly what I smell in the opening – this opening stays for 10 minutes and you smell the entry of the protagonist which is volet leaf – I be honest volet as a note is rarity for me and I have not smelled lot of fragrance which has violet was the main note however I know violet leaf can smell sweet and herbal in fact lot of places you can get violet leaf syrup and that sweetness is easily smelled and you smell bit of herbal ness however sweet violet leaf smell is very much prominent – around 90 minute mark I start smelling patchouli, vanilla and labdanum which bring it into its third and final stage where it’s a very ambery violet sweet base and it’s still very easy on your nose yet so unique in its blend - longevity is decent with around 8 hours and projection is also decent however considering its Extrait formulation I was expecting it to be more however it’s still good . What I appreciated abot this perfume was the uniqueness of its blend – Versatility in terms of weather you can wear though Spring -Summer is best suited and it’s still so easy to wear which is not an easy feet to accomplish with unique fragrance like this – this is the best from sepia series to my nose after iris shot of what I have tested and in top 5 fragrance from Olfactive studio.

I blind bought this bad boy!... (probably a bad idea)... but I don't regret it! This is an under-rated goodie. I was on a search for a violet perfume, and this one checked all the boxes I was sniffing for. The opening is very nice and easy. It's bright, citrus-y, green fresh. About a minute in, the scent is floral, violet-y, reminiscent of a vintage perfume. About 5 minutes in, it's leathery, like a new handbag kind of leather with facets of fresh grass and violet leaf as well. About half an hour in, that vanilla comes through, giving a well rounded creamy base to the leather, fresh grass, violet, and it's lovely. You can really smell all the notes in the dry down. And the sillage! The sillage is lovely on this one. Though it may smell leathery on the skin, I continue to get whiffs of light sweet violet sugar throughout the wear. So good! The lasting water is okay. 5 hrs give or take. It's like 75% similar to Celeste by Giardini Di Toscano (pretty dang similar). The difference in Violet Shot is the leather note. IMO, that leather, safreleine note makes this perfume so unique making it very well rounded and better than Celeste. But both fragrances have that violet, green, sweet profile going on about them. Unisex, but I think leans a bit feminine because of the sweet violet leaf note. It would still smell really good on a man though because of the ozonic and leathery factor. This is quite a unique experience and I'm happy to add to my collection. It can be worn all year round and can definitely be a signature scent. It's dynamic and I can't wait to wear it more as we move into spring. This is an under-rated goodie. 9.5/10

A beautiful, creamy violet scent. The grass and citrus notes are present in the top, but then Violet Shot dries down into one of the best violet perfumes I can ever remember wearing. The vanilla used here is realistic—and not to sweet—peaking out above the meadow as the scent wears. This is a top shelf perfume, my favorite from Olfactive Studio.

My first impression was pale, powdery parma violet with green but creamy woods — something cedary? It turns out the cedar-effect comes from blending violet leaf and vanilla. Violet leaf isn't my favourite note — it can smell oddly plasticky — but Violet Shot uses it to good effect and like its stablemate Iris Shot this perfume has a sleek, contemporary vibe. The vanilla comes through as it dries but never becomes gourmand. The tension between green and vanilla reminds me of Nishane's Ani or Guerlain's Angélique Noire , though only at a superficial level. I should say Violet Shot is very well blended so there's no wobbling about between the two accords that I notice with Ani . I won't lie, the violet makes this a hard one for me to wear but I like its cool sophisticated tone. It slowly becomes nuttier and sweeter as the vanilla and labdanum smooth and soften, while still keeping its edge.

Do not hope for a light violet here. Egyptian Violet Leaf Absolute will not give you a floral perfume. It's actually leaning masculine. The opening is an overdose of pink pepper: I have a feeling I am chewing it it my mouth. Then deep greenness is taking the direction of leather which is a combination of saffron, labdanum and patchouli. Some scarce sweetness tries to come out, but it does not come out as vanilla, it feels like sweet combination of cardamom and cinnamon, but very distant. As a creation it is very captivating. After a fleeting passage through tangy candy, which avoids excessive glycemic levels thanks to this nervous start propelled by mandarin and pink pepper, the violet combines with complementary accords: on the cold side, a herbal breath stiffened by patchouli; on the hot side, a leathery, balsamy and vanilla accord. The first structures, the second rounds then stretches on the skin in an increasingly darker manner, with accents of black cashew.

Reminds me of Lush‘s „Daddy O“ Shampoo, but on a slightly finer base maybe the labdanum/patch-combo?). Beautiful, the right amount of loudness. Unisex, age-wise 30s to 40s. Rooted and urban. But probably with a little getaway on the countryside. I am seriously considering a whole bottle (was €230.– the last time I checked). Recommendation for violet-lovers and people looking for a subdued, urban, everyday scent.

Reminds me of sitting in a small village church on freshly polished pews with incense hanging in the air coupled with the smell of my grandmother's violet perfume. Sounds terrible but it actually works. Appropriate as a Fall evening perfume and although unisex leans more to the feminine side. Interesting overall but definitely not a blind buy.

I'm not a fan of this house, but Violet Shot is really quite a nice violet scent. Light and green, not pulled down by the labdanum or patchoulli

Violet Shot by Olfactive Studio offers a unconventional take on the violet note, setting it apart from many other violet fragrances. Typically known for its cool and restrained character, violet is transformed here into a warmer, sexier version of itself, thanks to rich vanilla, a hint of saffron-like spice and a touch of dark woodiness.

Thought I couldn't go wrong with violet and Ropion, two favorites. I was wrong . So cranked up that it smells as fake as a parade of Lisa Frank unicorns. If you like concept modern abstractions, you may enjoy this. Absolutely do not blind buy.

Beautiful versatile all year round (though maybe tone down the sprays in summer with 1 MAX lol) scent, that is amazing from opening to the fizzle out, the refreshing grassy opening is a nice mood setter that builds into a beautiful violet leaf that is enhanced by the safraleine, i can see this being widely liked and wouldn't offend anyone, its strong (on my skin at least) but not strong enough to be overbearing on anyone, considering its price tag, i very very much recommend getting a sample before buying but i'd wager you'd love the scent regardless, an easy 9/10 for me given the circumstances

A striking candy tang opening first prepares one for purple flowers both crystalised and fresh – though this is only partially true. Quickly one climbs up from the base of the flower, through leathery roots submerged in soil, green stems and leaves, right up to the peduncle and pedicel to which the flower is attached. Violet Shot never loses its tang, a camera-flash of aldehydes, mandarin, and pink pepper that gives the scent a perky effect. Violet Shot draws into a clearly ozonic, grassy, and leathery violet leaf note that brings Fahrenheit (Dior, 1988) to mind immediately, where the swings between fresh cucumber and fire are brought closer. Not only does this sweetness soften the gasoline hiss, but a superbly moreish base of safraleine – a saffron material that adds reddening spice while echoing leather characteristics – tilts the scent slightly downwards, into an oozy, faintly gooey, slightly fuzzy balsamic blend of labdanum, patchouli, and vanilla that has a bit of muscle to it. To call Violet Shot molten or magmatic is no overstep: it certainly stirs the textural imaginary towards this impression. At the same time, it all happens against a persistent powderiness characteristic of violet flower – a cocktail of ionones ranging from floral, sweet, woody, fruity, and velvety. Silkiness turns to magma, to velvet, to powder, to cream, to grass clippings, and to darkness on repeat, and in no particular order. Veritas and creativity: a masterclass of violet. 4-4.5 / 5

There's a smooth three way blend of a vanillic patchouli violet leaf, or, something like that. It's soothing, it works well and it's pleasant to smell, but I wouldn't call this a 'violet' scent by any stretch of the imagination... There are traces of resin in this (benzoin, possibly myrrh), but by and large, this is more base than floral, and that's fine, but I came to this scent for either violet or iris, and I'm not really getting that here, I'm afraid to say... That high-pitched, screechy violet leaf element is tamed well and does not at all ruin the scent (it does in other scents). Possibly worth a second go-around, but I am not a fan of this (thus far), though I can't find anything wrong with it...

First and foremost, this is a very masculine fragrance. The grass, violet leaf, and labdanum give off an aftershave vibe. More importantly, this smells absolutely NOTHING like Celeste from Giardini di Toscana and I am offended that this is even being compared to that lol. Celeste is a gorgeous violet flower scent that has zero masculine tendencies. I think the only way that you could find that similarity is if you cannot distinguish between violet flower and violet leaf - which is crazy. This would be nice on a man but I really don’t see how anyone can find this feminine leaning.

Just IN CASE some ppl are not aware ...there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between violet & violet leaf! Violet is a sweet, semi powdery, purple candy like flower note, and violet leaf is a very fresh, green, herbal, twangy, with a very light fruity nuances, but completely different than violet. So if you don't like violet, but you like this, that MAY BE why. I also don't find this similar to celeste at all! I wonder if ppl comparing the 2 have even smelt both or as said B4 me, maybe ppl are not aware of the difference between these 2 different violet notes.

I perceive the opening as sharp and sweet. There's a roundness there but the violet shoots up past it like a rocket. As it dries that sharp violet settles and incorporates into the vanilla and patchouli base. It smells kinda cheap to me. Like dryer sheets or an air freshener that goes off periodically from a can on a timer somewhere in the corner of the office break room. Blind bought the bottle like everything else so now time to rehome this baby.

A shot of violet: really! The opening of this fragrance is pungent, stuns, the citrus fruits are taken to the extreme of their acidic side, to favor a wonderful contrast with the creaminess and delicacy of the violet. Really interesting, for those who love this note, an absolute must have in their collection. Beautiful and realistic, with great sillage and persistence. I would absolutely wear it in the spring

I don't understand how people are saying Violet Shot smells nothing like Celeste. Yes- It absolutely does. Violet Shot smelled different when I first tried it but after letting it sit... this is the non-fluffy gourmand, less bright, ozonic version of Celeste. I've been wearing it all morning, trying to figure out why I KNOW this scent, and then I saw the reviews.
