Roma 271

A Roman Ode in Scent I was invited to the release event of this brand and I was lucky to test a sample and subsequently bought a bottle with my own money. I have had the fragrance for a few months now and have worn it a few times. The moment I got my nose on Roma 271, I knew it was something special. It opens with a distinctly Italian flair, zesty citrus and bold coffee, an unexpected pairing that somehow feels both invigorating and familiar. As the citrus fades, the coffee remains, joined by a smoky veil that’s mysterious yet comforting. Not the incense-laden smokiness of cathedrals, but something more modern, more urban, like dusk settling over cobblestones. The base is where the fragrance truly settles in. Amber and patchouli create a deep, comforting warmth, while a soft touch of orris lends a refined, woody elegance that lingers beautifully. The incense stays in the background, offering quiet support without ever taking over. The overall character leans masculine, and on my skin, its staying power was remarkable, lasting from early morning well into the night. This scent doesn’t just sit on the skin, it stands out. It gives me a quiet sense of confidence and brings to mind Rome, where every street feels alive with history. It’s bold, charismatic, and unmistakably present. A niche fragrance should feel like an experience from the moment you open the box, and the details matter. OT understands this well. From the thoughtful box design and amazing quality, to the detailed metallic label, and the weighty metal cap with its clean engraving, everything signals care and intention. It reflects a brand that values its craft, one that puts genuine passion into every part of the product. Final Impression: A fragrance that speaks of character, heritage, and the sweet indulgence of la dolce vita. If this is the first of what’s to come, sign me up.

Roma 271 is part of a trio of fragrances (including Pelle Viola and Dolce Milano) from the new niche brand Olfactive Traveller, partnering with Italian perfumer Luca Maffei. Out of the three offerings Roma 271 is my favorite. Marketed as unisex, Roma leans masculine and captures the aromatic essence of Rome, a city I had the pleasure to visit many years ago. After the initial spray on skin, I get incense right off the bat, iris and some powder. The mid in my opinion brings the woods and coffee to the fore quite nicely. After about four hours I get the same notes as the mid, with the scent sitting closer to the skin. Longevity is good, I've gotten about six good hours from this fragrance. Not beast mode by any means, but the scent profile here is laid back for me while still being very present. Roma 271 may not have the edgy profile some people may be looking for, but the fragrance is very accessible and high quality. Great for cooler months.

I nearly held off on getting this one as I feel like incense fragrances are really overdone these days, but I trusted the boys knew what they were doing. I was so happy when I first sprayed it! It is a softer incense that doesn’t completely smother everything and the other notes all come out to play a big part. I was worried that all I was going to get was a big churchy incense bomb, but everything else stands out just as much and it’s balanced perfectly. The orange, the lemon zest and the coffee make this fragrance a ‘love’ for me. It stays on the skin for hours and I get wafts of it all day. I’m very much enjoying it and I think all three from this line are very well done, but this is the one I’ve spent the most time with. I didn’t expect anything less than pure class from this house and they didn’t let me down!

Roma 271 is a wonderful, cozy mix of incense and ambery notes with a subtle peppery sweetness. Despite the concentration of heavier notes, the wearing experience is quite light and airy, creating a beautiful cloud of scent that floats and wisps around your body. A scent intriguing enough to capture the hearts of collectors, and gentle enough to wear around those who don't care for fragrance. Luca Maffei truly worked his magic on this one.

Incredible fragrance. There are so many nuances going on, each time you wear it your nose finds a new one. The coffee note is really something. This has a masculine evening vibe, but I wear it to work (just with less sprays). I really enjoy the combination of notes which create a male muskiness.
